The Board, management and players should sweat blood to deliver automatic promotion to the supporters next season.

Agreed - which will mean taking 6 points off toytown and our porcine friends.

PS: took a bit out of your post

It could be a deliberate ploy by the investors. We the regulars get pissed off by the lack of progress so fans drift away and season tickets drop off in respect of the regulars. This allows a higher class of supporter to get in on the season tickets for the promotion pushes to the premiership;).
Bloody hell, I must be reminiscing about long gone posts of Jon Bon .

Hmmmm, I must say I find the 'Royal family are all shape shifting lizards' theory far more believable. :p

You could be right though as I'm holding out until our premiership promotion push, so you could be on to something there... ;)

If this is correct then it poleaxes any myth of SUFC fans being fickle. Given the crap we have been served up in league matches this Season at home, this sort of commitment from the fans is nothing short of astonishing !!

The Board, management and players should hang their heads in shame and sweat blood to deliver automatic promotion to the supporters next season.

An alternative view might be that this season has been viewed fairly favourably by some fans.

easily pleased

It's not about being easily pleased - it's about being pleased by different things.

my view is that the vast majority who have renewed are the hardcore that would renew no matter how bad it gets.

10 000+ ST holders might have renewed because of the way we play.

10 000+ ST holders might have renewed despite the way we play.

Or it might be a bit of both.

Unless someone gets round to asking them I can't see how we're ever going to find out.

Other than the cups, what has been pleasing about the football we have played this season?

My view is that the vast majority of renewals are from the hardcore, it's just an opinion, never said it was a fact.

I can't believe 10,000 have renewed because of the style of play, good performances this season can be counted on your fingers. I'm not in the long ball camp or the tippy tappy sideways camp I just want to see good attacking football. Good teams mix it up but if Arsenal boot it 60yards to an attacker it is a lovely pass  What drives me nuts is when we pull every player back to defend corners, Robson used to do it too, it makes no logical sense and is ultra negative as is the sideways keep possession at all costs style. Winning games is what it is about you don't get anywhere playing for draws, since the 3pts per win it is better to win half your away games than draw all of them. Go for wins and you might just entertain while you do it.

I like the way we play. I don't like the way we defend. I've renewed
We don't punt the ball forward aimlessly. Tick. It ends there for me. Everyging else about they way we play frustrates and bores the hell out of me.

Like thousands of others, and everyone I know, , I've renewed (x3) in spite of the football.

:)

I hate the way we play, but sooner or later either Nigel will have a eureka moment and workout that the more chances you create, the more chances you have to score etc; or we find a positive Phil.

Nigel surprisingly is a relative young manager and whether we go up or not this season, hopefully he will have learnt something about himself and us fans. There really are no excuses in not getting out of this division, if you can spend 2m on a full back.

This has been the first time in 20 years of being a season ticket holder that I have even thought about not renewing, but I suppose deep down I was always going to renew.

Handing over the £320 was like paying taxes to me, don't really want to do it, but know you have to. Hopefully next season will be a lot better and it will be money well spent.

Got to admit, I was struggled myself because I am just not enjoying it, and I seem to disagree with everything Nigel does. Not that I know better, just that alot of them make no sense.

....Good teams mix it up but if Arsenal boot it 60yards to an attacker it is a lovely pass.....

That's because it is usually a lovely pass. Hoof-ball/long ball rarely includes such "passes", it's about balls knocked long to areas/channels/aerial targets with a significantly lower chance of success and control.

TC was a great exponent of the hoof ball. Kicking towards the Kop he'd 'hoof' the ball 60 yards . Woody would be running towards the opponents goal and the timing of this hoof and Woody's run meant the ball fell over his shoulder and into his path for him to bury it in the bottom corner. Cue Kop to go mental.

Glad we don't have to put up with this hoof ball nowadays.

I admire your positivity .... regrettably, I don't see how we could possibly be promoted through then play-offs this season given our indifferent form, inability to score goals, inability to keep a clean sheet and the severe weaknesses in our current squad.

Hopefully ..... I shall be offering apologies to all at the end of may for my lack of confidence ;)

Agreed the play at times has been poor and my support of Clough this season may turn next year, IF we are still in this division.
If we get up then for me, he gets another 2 years minimum.

As for being positive, my take on it is the PO's are just a mini tournament and form, to a degree may not come into it.
Of course you may be spot on, but as is usual, the PO's games are future, they haven't happened and it is all about how we approach it and hopefully respond positively.
It's not quite in Clough we trust, but I would like to think we have a better than even chance. I don't agree that other teams won't fear us - Swindon fans will not want to play us and that can generate into negative thoughts among their fans. We are a good away team. We of course need to take a lead to their place, but if we do I really fancy us.

Agree about us being a good away team. I posted a couple of weeks ago that the home leg is the one that concerns me most. If we get a positive result at BDTBL then prepare yourself for a promotion party.
