The kids and I have decided we want to transfer our ST's to the South Stand (we're currently on John Street), but just wondering if anyone on here knows if this is easy enough to arrange? I can't perceive any issues but I presume we'd be charged for the cards to be re-newed with the new seat details?

Anyone done this before?

Cheers in advance...UTB!

Should be no problem to do this. People do it all the time, and there shouldn't be any charge
Also, I would say, before the move over there, ask , just for one game, to move over there, just to get a feel of sitting over there, it's not everyone's cup of tea, especially with kids. The ticket office will be quite happy to issue you with tickets there to try it out.

LOL - see your point, used to have ST there many moons ago, really liked it meself, and one of the reasons we wanna move - kids are 15 & 16 respectively- is that we were moaned at for too vociferous (not aggressive or abusive mind) support...rather sort this now early in the season than leave it a month or two...think South Stand should be fine.

Cheers for advice fella - really appreciated...

Just another question from me.

Going to taking Brownie jnr to a few games this season, and as he is 3 years old and picking up new language all the time, and don't really want to take him on the kop where he can listen to industrial quantities of weapons grade language. So how easy would it be to swap to John Street on a match by match basis?

Brownie, my daughter and I have had season tickets on the Kop for the last 4 seasons. For the first 3 due to her age and the fact she couldn't see much when we attacked we used to swap them up to the Westfield. She didn't need to pay any extra and I just upgraded my ticket on a match by match basis, dead easy.

I changed mine a couple of times, no charge and very easy to do. Just call/ email the ticket office. I emailed so I had a record of the change

They'll let you do it easily enough in the ticket office, just don't sit near us on half way :D

I go on the Soth Stand for cup games and the language is no different. Go for a better view, or because people wont stand up as mcuh, or sing as much. Don't bother if it's to avoid swearing.

I woudn't worry too much about it. None of my kids swear and they hear it all the time. At football, from me too sadly. It's a lesson of do as I say, not as I do....:)

Alco - it's me and kids wanting to transfer to South Stand, Brownie was wanting to use John St (Family Stand) :-)

But thanks for input - can live with a moderate amount of bad language, it's football for crying out loud - the way I see it is if a person can't vent off for 90 mins at footie, then one of the working class' sacrosanct institutions is well & truly dead :-(

Just one last Q: looking at seat availability on the ticket site, I've whittled down some acceptable seats for us, but does anyone know if the TO would have 'access' to others not on the site?

Cheers guys....

Btw Swiss, did they reissue a Season Card or just update details on your existing one?

The first time they didn't as i didn't need a new one, they just issued a ticket.

But 2nd time I asked for a new card and it was no probs for them.

If you're moving stands then they'll prob issue new cards with new seat no etc. Though they should be able to just update your card

I agree with that, but I also think there should be an enclosure where swearing is not permitted just for the sake of our younger fans and their parents who don't want to take their kids home having learned new words at the match. He already knows the f-word thanks to someone's little darling who effs and Jeffs like a trooper at pre-school nursery, and I'd like to leave it at that.

No spagetti hoops in your cupboard, taking up jogging and now averse to a bit of swearing. What's the world coming to?

:)

You've all got an open invite to join me for falafel and carrot juice before the next home game. :)

Don't you think 3 yr old might be a bit young for going to a football match ? But like you say they will hear all the words at pre school nursery anyway, the tricky bit is teaching them when it is or is not acceptable to use them, sadly nowadays even some grown ups seem struggle to know when it is acceptable.

Not wanting to have the thread digress too much, it's nice to see such a discussion here. In principal & theory, I concur entirely mate; but in reality, avoiding swearing etc.,no matter where we might be is like trying to avoid fresh air...

Of course, I also agree with your point - it'd be nice to see such an 'swear free enclosure' for those who might believe such steps are feasible, but just how would it be policed (not by bobbys I mean)? I'm not one for bad language and swearing myself, seriously, but even I am known to have an emotive outburst once in a blue moon, and would hope others around me would be willing to offer the benefit of the doubt on such occasions.

I think MetalBlade is pretty much bang on the head; IMHO realistically any parent who thinks they can effectively limit their kid(s) in picking up bad language (I'm included BTW) is really clutching at straws. They can and will learn it - as you know from experience (and me too mate) - from pre-school nursery, and others such things as full time school, the pubs we frequent before/after the match, TV programming, movies, video games etc., etc. No matter how much we might try (for all the right reasons) it'd be futile to truly conclude we can successfully protect them from all this.

I remember at Wembley there was a young(ish) Dad and his son (about 8-10) behind me and I said something about us being s**t and the kid saying "that was a swear word". I apologised to the guy and told the kiddo I was 'naughty' but even the Dad said that it was understandable and he told his lad before that he'd hear 'swearing' at such a footie game. IMHO, common sense self-policing like this is probably the most realistic way that we, as parents, can succeed. I know it's not perfect, but we don't live in a prefect world and unfortunately, never will.

All the best mate, and in conclusion, sure, I'd say to try and get on John Street if you can, but after being on there (dotted about all over till recently) I can tell you that you still won't escape 100% any and all 'bad language', but it'd probably prove to be the 'better' place in the ground...

UTB!

...the tricky bit is teaching them when it is or is not acceptable to use them, sadly nowadays even some grown ups seem struggle to know when it is acceptable.

With you here metal. As above, I'm not much for all the swearing, and rarely use such myself, but IMHO the true art of parenting is not trying to prevent the kids from learning it (realistically) but to teach them when and when not such is 'acceptable'. My oldest lad is in the Army and all my 'training' will have gone to pot since he's joined; yet at home he NEVER uses such language in front of his younger siblings.

And yeah, like alcoblade says in blunt honesty (which I admire BTW), with alot of adults it is a case of 'do as I say not as I do'. For me, I don't understand those who use it every sentence, no matter where, when and why - but when emotions are aroused i.e. frustration, anger or pain etc., I appreciate why people can and do resort to it - in such cases even I do LOL :p

All the best & UTB!

Just a quick update: mailed the TO this a.m. and they'd sorted it within a coupla hours, giving me a call to finalise the arrnagements and clear with me that I was happy with allocation - free re-issued cards as well, in post tonight.

Well done TO, and thanks to all you guys who advised here :D
