How far will it be put back?
I reckon the first one will be extended a month this time.
And by the way SUFC, if you do read these sites, pull your collective thumbs out and have a belated rethink on how you're going to shift them.
When you've cocked things up, there's no harm in realising you've done so and making changes.
Carry on as you are, as if it's just the same as last season, will deliver disastrous results.

What you thinking Len? Adverts on buses? :)

I'd be interested to see how many have already renewed, as I expected to struggle to find many who did it on the first day, thought they'd be few and far between... But more than I thought seem to have already bitten the bullet.

Just appoint Speed as caretaker manager in, get some youngsters in the side and get some passion back on the terraces. Its purgatory at the minute, even when we win its a terrible watch.

I won't boo the players or the managers, shoes won't be coming off again, but christ its like watching a family pet slowly pass away - much easier a spade on the mush, chucked in the River Don and bringing in a replacement ASAP.

Very good stuff Len.

I'm looking forward to the laughable spin the club will try and put on it when the derisory level of renewals become clear later this month.

Is the deadline currently before or after the now annual humiliation at Hillsboro? Let us be absolutely clear that if they have a full team out, we could very easily be looking at a new massacre.

I suspect we will have several deadlines like our friends across the city.

If people like me - over 25 years as a season ticket holder, Blades revival member, and a shareholder - aren't renewing then I fear for the club.

I'm not a glory hunter, in fact some of my best Blades memories are in the lower leagues, I just don't recognise the club I am meant to be supporting anymore and when once I would have felt anger and joined Bifa etc, now I just feel complete apathy. For some reason what has happened in the last year or two has just left me not really caring that much.

Given I know many other Blades that feel like me (maybe I need some new mates) I am amzed the club did not come up with a more eyecatching ST offer. Seems the club can't be bothered either.

until they've announced a new manager presumably?

Very, very true Tuns.

The key thing is that the people who are criticising the club are not glory hunters. I am very worried that the club think that the criticism is coming from a handful of weirdos and that a couple of thousand off the crowd won't hurt anyone.

McCabe has turned the club into an exact replica of the general economy (when I believe football clubs are relatively immune) and therefore it is about time he woke up and realised that people are skint and will not fork out for sub-standard goods anymore. £409 is way too expensive - I really do believe that and could not care less what other clubs are charging. If it means that we see cheaper players tnen no problem for me. A decent manager can produce a decent side in CCC with an average budget.

Perhaps Len could be our photo model? I bet he'd certainly out misery-guts that miserable looking pig on their posters. He'd probably look like a Euro-Lottery winner compared to our Len....

I'm basing it on the heart ruling the head where football is concerned. What do you make of it, be interested to know? I'm only talking relative - totally accept that general factors do apply to football, but not as forcibly as they do in other sectors - eg property, manufacturing, new bathrooms etc.

Unfortunately for McCabe, his policies have meant that the balance betwen 'heart' and 'head' is fast moving in the favour of the 'head' for thousands and thousands of Blades.

In general, TV money for football is pretty resistant to the recession and corwds in Prem and CCC are still good. I don't know what deals CCC clubs get with Sky and BBC but it won't be bad and won't drop off a cliff. Commercial revenues might be down but i don't think they formed a big part of our set-up anyway and for majority of Prem clubs (which we aren't obviously) the TV money is the be all and end all. I think our crowds would remain strong in CCC with right leadership irrespective of recession outside of football

im undecided yet whether im renewing for the last god knows how many matches the day before i wasnt going but i always end up on the kop, been going now since i was three a draw against gillingham i was.
Like been said above i dont recognise the cluba anymore and im jsut a little bit fed up of been in the dark i think weve heard from mccabe 2-3 times in about 2 year whic to me frankily isnt good enough.

Fair point Spadge but it aint the regularity or otherwise that bothers me. What does bother me is the total garbage, half truths, evasiveness and corporate nonsense we get when he does open his gob. All football fans are taken for a ride to some extent but SUFC seem to specialise in it.

I've had a lot of time for McCabe in the past and I bought into his vision of the 'new United'.

I think we all now accept that it's gone pearshaped and we are bailing out big time.

The strategy going wrong is one thing but neshing it and hiding away from the fans and media is another.

If ever we needed our leader to come out fighting and give us some hope for the future then it's now.

Instead all we get is his new front man Birch giving a morale-sapping interview on RS that must have cost a few hundred season tickets in itself.

It's hard to criticise McCabe for his defiant/upbeat corporate spin/nonsense and then have a pop at Birch for his sole destroying, yet truthful, negativity on RS but I'll try, and I agree with you, he could have sounded alot more inspiring than he did. Maybe he thought he was back in his insolvency days talking about one of his clients.

I suppose you think that's funny Foxy?

Are you not aware of len's old BU campaign for the club to take out adverts on the back page of The Star, advertising season tickets? Buses is even better.

For the record, I don't feel inclined to renew at this moment. It's not the money, but more a passive protest at the Blackwell way (didn't The Move do a song about that?).

In my view, if ST sales are disastrous, it won't be because the marketing's rubbish, it will be because they're trying to sell a product less people feel inclined to buy.

Len did what?? I'm surprised no-ones brought it up before now......

Aye, and Len was right on that one.
This time, we're looking at a different situation and need more radical measures.
And Tuns, your posts speak for thousands and thousands of Blades.

raul, if you know only one thing about me, it's surely that I'll milk any situation to the point of desert-like dryness and len is fertile ground, if you'll forgive the mixed metaphor. I hate myself for it, but I just can't stop.

What deadline?

Edit: Ah, the 17th April one. I can't see where it mentions that anywhere in the brochure, and it's pretty easy to miss on the OS too.

I'll renew but not until the latest possible moment before the deadline. Hopefully if thousands do this it may force McCabe to move in early April if things don't drastically improve.

You're not alone. Are you and Fleety going to Malta a week earlier than the Club or a week later?;)

The only thing that will get my renewal is a change in manager and culture. Get rid of Blackwell, and start playing with regular SUFC players (even if they are kids).

I don't identify with any (well; most) of the current team, half the time I have to ask my 8 year old son who a player is because I we've had about a zillion players this season and I haven't got a clue who any of them are.

I'd rather we brought in a few freebies (who are going to stick around a little bit), bring some youth academy players through and keep the (very few) decent players we currently have rather than get a new loan in every couple of weeks. I just don't feel like I'm watching "my team" at the moment. Even if that means a few seasons with lower expectations (read: league position) while we rebuild. God how I much wish we had Warnock back :(

As things stand now; I'll pick and choose a few games next season but won't be renewing.

To be honest when it comes to renewal time, i'm stuck between the devil and deep blue sea.

One part of me tells me the football has been crap this season, the atmosphere is crap, the club are skint, the manager has lost the plot and a season of mediocrity at best is on the cards.

The other side of me tells me that what would i do on a saturday afternoon if i didn't have United matches to attend. I'm not going today but that is purely because i have to work and couldn't swap my shifts to get out of it?

I my head keeps telling me not to renew, but my heart says otherwise.....

The one thing that has always determined my renewal is that I have always enjoyed going to the Lane and always had the hope that next season things will improve.
OK, Let's not forget the good times we have had.
The problem now is that I, like countless others, are not enjoying what's happening and if I do renew it will be out of force habit.
IF I don't renew ( for the first time since 1984 ) then is it me who is to blame for this or is the Club ?
What I would like to see is a break in the silence from the Chairman and let everyone know what the hell is happening.

You forgot the bit about "If I don't renew, we'll no doubt go on to win the Championship and both Cups wothout conceding a goal, and I won't get to see any of it."

I'm still dithering about renewing my season ticket as well.

i am erring on the side of not renewing, would be the first time since 84 if i did'nt, but the way i see it at the moment is that i would'nt buy a ticket for a gig if the band were crap and did'nt play or sing, so why should i buy a season ticket for sheffield united when they are currently crap and don't play football. I just think Mr Blackwell has taken us as far as he can, i don't see things improving under his tenure. A change of manager may sway me back in favour of renewing, only time will tell.

I renewed my seat with free shirt two weeks before start of the season at the same price as everyone else who had parted with their money 2/3 months previously. As I have done every season for as long as I can remember.
My seat will be available two weeks before the season starts this next season and i will buy it at the price people are renewing at now.
Trust me I know these things
