I’m launching a new blog focussed on The Championship for this season.

For my season preview, I’m keen to profile a kind of ‘insider’s view’ on the prospects of each 24 clubs for the next season. So, with that being said, I’d really appreciate a bit of an overview of how you think your season is likely to go? How’s it shaping up/where do you need to strengthen/who do you need to keep hold of/where do you think you’ll finish, etc. Any and all feedback would be much appreciated.

I’ll let you know once the blog is live, and hopefully you’ll have a spare few minutes to have a read and let me know your thoughts.

We'll likely finish top half, just how high depends on the quality of our recruits over the next couple of weeks. With 2 decent strikers and an attacking midfielder I'd expect us to push for the top 6. As long as we keep O'Connell and Fleck at least, who we cannot afford to lose.

A bit of 'insider info' would be about how good our midfield is. They go under the radar a bit I think. The first choice 3 of Coutts, Fleck and Duffy are all excellent players who suit their roles perfectly and work very well together. Coutts missed most of last season with a broken leg and it cost us. His return could be key for us this season.

Of course, I haven't yet mentioned the best insider info.

Our secret is to kick it long, kick it hard and kick it high. Every one of our players is over 6 foot 1 and we use this to dominate teams in the air and especially at set pieces, exactly as we have done every season for the last 30 years. We haven't got the most talented group but our honest endeavour and muck and nettles, up and at 'em approach is something we're all quite proud of.

Feel like there's intent this season, we were so close last season and it seems like against the odds the board have opened their wallets (or given Wilder the Brooks money instead) either way we've already got one good top end Championship player in and there's a chance of another couple.

Think we'll be smarter too, we lost the difference between 10th where we finished and about 4th in points last season because of soft/last minute goals. Our defence has been bolstered and I think we might sacrifice some style occasionally to get those results. I expect that's mainly what we've been working on in summer because our chance creation was great last year.

We've kept the team together, apart from Brooks but he wasn't a key player in a starting role, we will miss him off the bench though.

Cautiously optimistic but wary as always because certain portions of our support will be on Wilder's back if we're not top in October like we were last season.

I'd rather look at Cardiff, not always pretty, not always in the automatic places last season but they were there in the end and that's what counts.

We have some good players too who could really step it up a gear now with a season of Championship experience under their belts, Baldock, Lundstram, Leonard, Stevens, as well as Coutts coming back in a few weeks.

If Coutts has the same sized positive effect as he did negative effect when he got injured, that should really give us a kick up the backside at Christmas.

Got to be looking at the play offs at least, our owners investment may seem pitiful by the standards of some clubs but we have a maestro as manager.
Already bolstered defence which was needed to be honest and looking to get strikers with better credentials to add to Sharp and Clarke who were excellent last season.
Midfield is sound but will be even better should Coutts make a full recovery from the horrific injury which effectively prevented us from being in the play offs last year.

Last season was a season of two halves if ever there was one. What we don't know - and can't know - is how much of the slump in form was due to Coutts' and Brooks' absence, and how much was simply due to teams giving the Blades more respect in the New Year and learning how to cope with them better. How much of a loss will Brooks be, and will Coutts be the same player?

United entered last season on the crest of a wave, after one of the best seasons I've ever seen in this city. Momentum and morale are very important, and their absence can be devastating as was seen over the road. Can United go into this new season with that same spirit?

United have now established themselves at this level, and have a much better idea about their opponents than 12 months ago. It cuts two ways.

Egan will definitely make United stronger at the back, an Achilles' heel last time.

To be honest I'm not a fan of Waghorn, but Tufty seems to be able to transform players so it could be a very good signing, and there are supposed to be more to follow.

When you consider all those variables it's very difficult to make a judgement, so we'll have to wait and see.

My brother-in-law is quietly optimistic, but he hasn't started sticking the boot in just yet, if that's any barometer.

Top 10 is “doable” following the investment and with a couple more signings. Much harder league this time around as the three coming down don’t have a couple of basket cases like Sunderland and Hull last year. All three relegated teams look relatively stable and will be up there. Boro look strong again and have bought well and Derby will be up there. Forest are investing heavily and Preston have made some shrewd acquisitions.

I perceive the last couple of playoff spaces are up for grabs but it’s going to be a much tougher league this year.

Realistically I’d say we’ll finish between 6th and 10th. That’s a fantastic achievement.

How on earth did you know that I was going to predict that????

I'll want to see whether Jos has got to the bottom of the injuries before I make any favourable predictions about Wednesday. The club looked like it was going down at one point last season, and had Swansea's chairman not come in for Carlos it might well have done.
