Slasher Tactics 101

1. Make a thread/post to slate the fuck out of the club / players / fans
2. Include caveat such as "potentially", "hope I'm wrong", or similar
3. If slashing ends up being correct: gloat in your realness and superior understanding
4. If slashing ends up incorrect: fall back on caveat from step #2

That was quite a funny read! To respond:

1. I didn't slate anybody, just stated the result could be highly significant and lead to dark times for the club

2. Fair enough

3. I have never done that, or seen others do it, have you?

4. I bumped the thread up when wrong to highlight how I was wrong and owned my mistake.

What I have said does not make me a lesser Blade, and it doesn't mean I'm attacking the club. Everything I have said could turn out to be realistically true.

I suppose if, God forbid, it did transpire I'd be fair game for me to bump this up saying how right I was? Some results define seasons, remember when Man United blew that lead against Everton a few years ago lost form and City clinched it on the last day?*

Things change quickly in football, and if people want to bump this thread up as a reminder of that so be it

You're right, things do change in football.

Where you're wrong is to suggest that anyone, at least not myself, has suggested you're a lesser Blade because of your overly dramatic and unnecessary post. You went off the rails, pure and simple. Assuming you had the plot in the first place you clearly lost whatever possession you might have had and replaced it with something akin to the level of intense amateur dramatics. To suggest that the club would collapse is a forecast comparable to the worst excesses of any amateur footballing 'expert'.

Let's see if you're close to being correct after Saturday's game. Of course, the collapse you've forecast won't happen immediately so I guess we'll have to be patient........but should we win, I guess you'll come on here and join the many who'll be praising Wilder and Knill for doing such an incredible job.....deal?

Yes you're quite right you didn't accuse me of being a lesser Blade, I apologize for that.

My OP is not something I look back fondly upon, but off the rails? A sizeable portion agreed with my sentiments and they were not misplaced, in fact I maintain the theory behind them that if we don't go up we could be in big trouble.

I never said it would collapse I said it 'could' collapse and we could fall upon hard times.

Of course I think the club players and management have been outstanding and I'll cheer no matter what, I even went in the Brentford end on Monday to support our promotion cause!

If people want to argue at me that's fine but I must say I find it a strange thing to do at this moment in time

That misses the point, it's entirely the right moment to remind you that your comments were inappropriate, especially considering how well we've come back since then.

So let me get this straight, saying after a damaging result that it could damage our season and the club is an inappropriate?

The ups and downs are what make football special, right?

If someone said to me at the start of the season, “Mate you have two options:

1. You win like legends and are champions and up easily with loads of games to spare, or
2. You are (basically) up after winning the last home game of the season and then crowned champions by winning the last game, away at Stoke”

I’d have taken #2 every time. Fucking drama is immense.

Note: I know we aren’t up/champions, but my point remains. The drama of sport is what keeps us coming back.

And where did I say the club is inappropriate? Your comments were, but at no point did I say the club was. You just wrote to excess, as if one poor result would cause a collapse of humongous proportions, so naturally that resulted in the replies you received. Not sure why you appear puzzled by this though? It's a bit like a bus being late and therefore the whole transport system has failed. These things happen, it's the seeing this in context that enables us, the management and players, to get a grip and put mistakes behind us.

Not one off results though are they ? The late goals we've conceeded this season. Swansea (85 mins). Rovrum (90+2). Villa (3 goals in the last 5 mins). Millwall again in injury time. We'd be champions by now
