Where oh where is the OP?

I was the one who bumped it up silly ;)

Unlike others I don't hide or dispute when I've been wrong.

(Tbf however I did say 'potentially' and that I would be delighted to be proved wrong and others agreed with me and there have been past precedents)

UTB, I hope you're all able to continue to laugh at this thread for years to come :)

Just so you don't imagine I confused you and the other poster, i didn't once confuse you with him. your screen name is at the beginning of this thread which makes confusion difficult.

Yes, you did write 'potential', but then again you also wrote 'season destroyer'.........a case of extreme overreaction I think.

Sometimes things just don't happen the way you want them to, but tonight at least went some way to showing that we didn't let Friday negatively affect us.

Up The Blades indeed.

There’s no room for common sense or rational thought when dem knees are a-jerkin.

Or is the result tonight the perfect motivation?
3 of Villa’s players combined probably earn more than our entire first XI combined.
Yes we threw away a lead, but we earnt that lead for 70 minutes.
Drill that into the players; win a game and finish it, don’t get complacent.

Ahem.

The thing is, as you can see above where I bumped this thread myself, when I am wrong about issues I don't hide from them, I own it.

It could have 'potentially' destroyed our season but the players and management are made of stronger stuff.

As I also said I would be delighted to be proved wrong and indeed I am, and I could never be more delighted

:)

So please, keep the comments coming!

Still one of my favourite ever posts on here...

Sadly, if we don't go up I am genuinely fearful of this clubs future.

With the ownership battle, Wilder might lose patience and go elsewhere as might some of our players be picked up (or returned to loan clubs) and their replacements may not be good enough and yes Sharp and Duffy's years could catch up with them.

We only need to look at this week's opponents to see what can happen after a failed play off campaign.

Hopefully this is the most redundant comment I will ever make (hopefully not too challenging ;) )

Of course, many on here have never been wrong about anything. They are right 100% of the time.

And you can have a like for owning it.

But you didn't just have our season destroyed, you had the club potentially destroyed! And then you did a not dissimilar post after the Bristol loss.

It will still go down as one of the best ever meltdowns this board has seen.

Love this new top blade fuckin tactic of bringing up threads from weeks or months ago to get extra brownie points.

Why are you putting a spoon of cough mixture on a perfectly good knee?

I know you are a top shot lawyer, but are you also a medical marvel in your spare time?

Oh give over. It was a jokey bump to a thread where the OP had said the club was potentially finished.

Not particularly you but love that as soon as anyone who supports us has the tiniest bit of founded pessimism it is constantly met by people saying shit like "you dont deserve to support the club". It is something becoming more and more common to the point where you cant critique or analyse game by game without either being accused of being a pig or "unworthy".

It depends how the pessimism is done though. If it's based on well considered opinions then there's no problem. If it's just an overactive hissy-fit like the OP then that's where people take issue.

There you go - you've done it again. ;)

Seriously - there's been far worse.

come on - chin up.

edit: As I walked out of the pub AFTER the 3-3 draw a mate texted me........he said "NOW, I believe we'll go up". He texted me again after the Millwall last minute goal and repeated "I still think we'll do it"

Now there's confidence for you.

And before anyone suggests we let sleeping dogs lie.......go right back to this thread's opener. Not just doom and gloom, the OP was talking wholesale demolition of the team, the club, and just about anything to do with SUFC. Yet here we are, on the brink of something quite incredible, that you'd never imagine the sort of mindset that waves the white flag because we lost a game that (admittedly) we should have won. I've no problem with healthy, even lively, criticism. It's good for the system, it airs potential problems, and it allows anyone who's concerned with the club's well-being to add their tuppence worth of comment.

What I don't care for is the way a defeat can suddenly turn into a drama of biblical proportions.......slight pause as I've read post #142 from S40BLADE , agree with your comments mate, we all come forth with criticisms of the way the team plays, wilder's selections, or a tactical decision. It's the nature of the beast I'm afraid, but we'd be poorer without it, so bring it on say I, just as long as it is criticism and not some thinly disguised attempt to downgrade or attack the club.

I think it’s less about “a tiny bit” of pessimism, more people just flagging when absolute bollocks is being spouted. We’re all guilty of it sometimes, but I’m surprised that you are surprised that people tire of the constant reactionary nonsense from a small minority of our fanbase which only serves to drag others & the club down.

What I have said does not make me a lesser Blade, and it doesn't mean I'm attacking the club. Everything I have said could turn out to be realistically true.

I suppose if, God forbid, it did transpire I'd be fair game for me to bump this up saying how right I was? Some results define seasons, remember when Man United blew that lead against Everton a few years ago lost form and City clinched it on the last day?*

Things change quickly in football, and if people want to bump this thread up as a reminder of that so be it :)

Slasher Tactics 101
  1. Make a thread/post to slate the fuck out of the club / players / fans
  2. Include caveat such as "potentially", "hope I'm wrong", or similar
  3. If slashing ends up being correct: gloat in your realness and superior understanding
  4. If slashing ends up incorrect: fall back on caveat from step #2
