Managed to get into the game at long last despite my season card not working (greetings from the south stand). Thank you to the person who sorted us out (you know who you are). I wouldn't mind if we had simply ignored the warnings about the cup tie scheme not working in all cases but:
A) dad renewed his in person not online
B) dad went to ticket office to confirm it was sorted for us both after reported problems and yes, it was all set up
C) money for today's game had been taken from the bank account
D) we had logged onto the website and seen we had been issued loyalty points.

So when we tried to enter we were both shown the dreaded red light. We were directed to the ticket office as it wasn't showing as activated on the steward's machine. Great.

Now Dave McCarthy says dad was the third person today out of everyone here who'd had this problem, then when I pointed out mine too didn't work, we turned into the fifth group today. I appreciate that glitches happen, but when we've taken time to check every avenue you just feel so let down!

Anyone else? Rant over :)

Sounds as if it was the only thing not working today.
Have we really slumped so low that we cannot beat Burton at home and they go down to 10 men.
Hardly likely to temper the knockers on this board.

Yes and what a f*cking joke it was trying to get into the ground today.

Thank your lucky stars it was only Burton and not a Leeds or Wednesday in the first round or it would've been carnage given how many couldn't get in.

All this time to sort it and they still messed it up despite ringing me twice to sort the automatic cup tickets out!!

Same problem happened last year - I remember queuing amongst grumpy Blades and Brentford fans in fancy dress.

Dad gone to pub after and loads in there complaining too... It appears Mr McCarthy's three, sorry five groups has turned into hundreds. His offer to sort it out was to buy my dad a coffee next week to discuss the problems they'd had to deal with last week. I'm the most placid person around but really - I'm not interested. We've been told our tickets are fine and it appears they are not. Yes you are in the firing line, just like the stewards are, and I bet they're getting it much worse....

Mine worked but saw loads of people struggling with both cards and paper tickets as we came in (Bramall Lane end of South Stand.)

I'm sure there's some joke about piss-up and brewery considering who we were playing...

We didn't have any problems. Renewed my season ticket online this year but went down to the ticket office to put the Burton game on our cards. We got through the turnstile as normal.

Sorry to hear of this, must be said, I didn't notice any probs (must have been the beer :D ), just the female steward off my right hand side giving me funny looks after Collins' equalising penalty when I was givin' the Albion end what for...

Must be said, if they insist on utilising these electronic/digital turnstiles, why can't they get them to work correctly? Some do, some don't??? What the heck

Apparently it was just those who had entered the automatic cup ticket scheme.

Took the money but hadn't activated it. Clever.

Not like they hadn't had weeks to test it out ?!

Ahh, that answers it then...

LOL, yes, but interesting; I got our tickets put on our Season Cards after the tickets went on sale, rather than utilising the auto cup scheme and we had - thankfully - no probs. Kinda glad I opted for this now...

Hope you guys get this sorted though - a real pain in the derrière...

This is why we were so fcked off about it... We'd heard about the problems & taken the cards into the ticket office who'd assured us they had been activated fine & was no problem!

a letter arrived on dad's doormat yesterday morning. Posted first class on Monday. Very personal, no formalities - first name terms etc. it was from Mr McCarthy....

Once they had realised the full extent of the problems He could understand why dad was so frustrated and wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused. It appears that they system thst knows payment was taken, and the system that activated the cards had not worked together (or something like that). On Friday they were led to believe that there weren't any problems.

I can only assume that when we had tried to get in at roughly 2,35pm we must have been one of the first to have this problem, followed by many, many more as it became closer to 3pm.

I'm dreading trying it this Saturday that's for sure...

Oh, and Mr McCarthy's offer of a coffee still stands if dad 'is not too busy'.

Fair play to him for writing & apologising without prompt. I had planned to write to him to stress my annoyance, it's only as I've been snowed under with work that I haven't. I made my feelings known on Facebook & Twitter (and here obviously) to try and gauge the scale of the problem with others, maybe that will have had an effect, who knows.

Must be said, I've had a couple of dealings with Dave Mc last season and he really went out of his way to help the family out. If they cocked up, he openly confessed that it was their fault - no excuses or BS...

It seems from the report on the website too that they've got this mess sorted now, so you should be fine from now on.....touch wood :-)
