On a more positive note, I remember going to a very entertaining 5-3 win at Bramall Lane in 1983. Think Morris got a couple and no doubt King Keith scored too.

We definitely need 3 points tomorrow has my boys live in a lovely quaint little village on the outskirts of scunny, about 10miles towards hull on the banks of the Humber called Winteringham, and they'll get some stick if we get beat by scunny as one of their teachers is a big scunny fan and lives in the same apartment block as their manager Alexander,so for my boys sake let's make it a day to remember tomorrow and put them to the Blades.

Has a very nice restaurant I believe Winteringham.
My lad has to train there this morning.....then I pick him up at the bridge on his way home to meet him and go to the lane. He's screwed either way....Scunny win he gets hammered....Blades win he gets hammered. Best scenario for him is Blades first...Scunny second at the end of the season.

Only one; that 0-4 home defeat in 2010 and the fourth goal in particular:

the United goalie came way out of his area at the Lane End to pass the ball to a full back but it went

straight to a Scunny player who was just inside the United half and who hit it straight back past him

and into the empty goal. That player was Martin Woolford.

The most ridiculous and unrepresentative (but somehow also quintessentially United) 0-4 in the history of the game. From memory we had all the ball, and ran the match. I remember walking out at the end feeling sure I was dreaming.

Tallies exactly with my memory. We were all over them playing well and all their goals were on the break, very much against the run of play.

I seem to think that in the previous/next home game the tables were turned. We beat someone (Plymouth?) soundly but didn't deserve to.

Funny old game and all that.

Winteringham Fields is a very nice restaurant, it was Michelin starred at one point, so very expensive. The same people have bought the Hope an Anchor pub at South Ferriby, that is excellent and good value. It is just across the bridge from us, so it is our Friday night option if we can't be bothered to cook.

My Scunny memories reflect slot of the posts above. The sat before the 4 niller we had played brilliantly to beat Derby away, I thought it was our new dawn under Speedo, I went on the Tuesday with big expectations. We absolutely battered Scunny and lost 4 nil.

The 3-2game was almost funny. A loud united end blasting out "we're winning away, how Sh*t are you, We're winning away" at 2 nil only for the inevitable to happen. That was the night I accepted we were going down.

how come we are the only fans in football that can start a memory of previous games and nearly every one remembered is losing

To be fair, winning against Scunthorpe is never going to be a highlight of any season, so when you get drubbed 4-0 at home by them then of course that's the one you are going to remember because it registers.

Flip it this way, if you asked for someone's memories against Liverpool, despite losing lots, I bet we would all mention the first leg of the League Cup semi where we beat them.

Yes it has got a top restaurant here in the village,my boys live next door to the shop across from the restaurant, blades played excellent today without the outcome they deserved, but hey ho we'll put it right next week against Bolton.
