Scunny is not a happy hunting ground for us.
We have not won there in 8 games the last victory being 3-1 in 1958/59.
Since that game our record there is P8 W0 D4 L4 F10 A15

Scratch a good result this weekend off then.

Another trend at Scunny is the number of sendings off we've had there: Steve Neville, Geary, Lowry, Doyle, Flynn....we always seem to get a hard time there.

Oldham is a team against whom 2 players sent off seems to be a regular occurence. From memory

11/3/78 Keeley and Woodward
8/9/84 Cockerill and Bolton
3/3/12 Lowton and Maguire

I seem to remember singing 'We are nine men' followed by 'We are eight men' (when one of our players got injured) at Oldham in an early season game circa 1991. Games with Oldham always seem to attract controversy.

Was Woody sent off against oldham? I thought he only got red carded once and that was at Burnley. Might well be wrong though

You're right. I am getting my double sending offs in 77-78 mixed up!

Woodward and Keeley went at Burnley on 11/3/78
It was Campbell and Flynn at Oldham on 17/12/77.

Thanks!

Saints preserve us it appears that Eskimo pissed on Darren today - is this as rare as an away win at Scunny?

Well done Eskers :)
Standards slipping Dazzler

Bollocks. Weir's finest hour was a majestic 0-0 draw at Fortress Glanford in the JPT last season. We destroyed them 5-3 on pens. One of those rare 'Where were you?' moments.

Charlie Hartfield and Paul Beesley were sent off in the 1st half when we were losing 2-0 in Sept 1991. Brian Deane (who was not to play for us for the next 9 or 10 weeks due to glandular fever) pulled a goal back shortly after half time. Simon Tracey kept the score down by pulling off a string of fine saves. Was Whitehouse the injured player near the end of the game after we used our subs?

first visit for me was at the old showround we lost i think 2-1 year we got promotion ,coldwell joe shaw &co barry thomas scored i think he was sold to newcastle for i think £65000 even then scunny had a reputation for selling strikers cause then they were called centre forwards.

Just looked at Complete Records. We drew 1-1 at the Old Showground in both 1959/60 and 1960/61 seasons. Doc Pace scored in both games

memory failed me again silent but i think thomas scored there goal that season he was getting rave noticers at the time
Dont know who scored for Scunthorpe I am afraid but you are probably right about Thomas. I have read about him being sold when Scunthorpe were at the top of the division. He didnt do well for Newcastle

Mood is low. Everyone pissed off with the bastard blades and execting nothing at a bogey ground. Nailed on blades victory. It's when we're expectant we turn into pieces of utter shit.

Said exactly the same to a fellow blade earlier today. £5 on 0-2 blades ffs.

I don't remember who got injured but I recall that Dave Bassett had told the press that Deano was injured and out of contention so it was a major shock when Deano was in the starting line-up. Some Blades fans started creating trouble after the sendings-off.

wow here's the confidence
