Wilder will want value for money both in fee and wages and he will also do nothing to disrupt the harmony within the squad.
His man management is one of the main reasons why we are where we are and he will do nothing that goes against his principals

You might be right here but regardless I just can't help but think that if this was the other way round we'd more than likely sell if a Prem club came calling, despite no McCabe.

Okay the Prince may not be as wealthy as Forest's and Reading's owners (I'm not really sure?) so if the scenario was the other way around we'd probably need to sell because of being more in need of the money than the aforementioned clubs.

These transfers may still happen yet but however when a PL club comes calling for a player in a lower division the deal more often than not usually happens. I'll find it really worrying if we are struggling to make signings like this (not just the particular two in question but for any lower than us in the pyramid) especially now we've secured another season in the PL and finished as high up as 9th!

I know Wilder won't overpay for players and I do want it to stay that way but I'm just not that comfortable that in the past we've generally struggled in transfer windows and now that we're in the PL we're still finding it a struggle even for lower league players, what gives?

In part you‘ve provided a good answer to your what gives question. Wilder won’t spend the earth on players if he doesn’t see it as a good use of the budget at his disposal which is more than reasonable. Secondly, I’m almost certain any player who is ambitious would want to play for a developing club with a great manger at the right end of premier league, even if our current facilities aren’t as good as some of the top end championship sides, they will be in 6 months time.

It’s the owners of the football clubs that have the final say, ultimately they have the power to hold any bidding club to ransom and players hostage. Maybe in the past we have been to honest when selling. As blades we know football life is not always fair, but without some sort of universal player valuation system, the only way to break a bidding deadlock is to offer what is being asked for or a player needs to risk kicking off in the hope he can force a transfer without being frozen out if it then falls through. Rock and hard place.

Not sure what legal rights a player has in this regard, others on here who are well versed may be able to shine a light?

What bids are we throwing out everywhere?

Fulham apparently offering £50k per week...we arent going to pay that .Reading won't sell( basically we wont pay what they want) and no answer on Cash as far as I am aware.

Time to judge will be at the end of the window and not now.

Blame COVID.

Championship clubs panicking about financing their clubs during this uncertain time so are asking for over the top transfer fees as a result. Give it a couple of weeks and when they realise they're better off selling for something than nothing we can swoop in.

We are missing out on our targets. You don’t bid unless you want the player. If other clubs are bidding for players and being rejected oneway or another then yes they are bad at planning too.

Who have we missed out on?

SciSports says we've identified with our system a player that's suitable for you. Great. Robbo we want to sign you for blades, you will fit in with our style of play and play for our great manager.

Pissoff Fulham offered me 50k a week

Well it’s reported and widely accepted that we have bid for Robinson / Swift / Cash.

I think the more well known and widely reported the possible transfer is then the less likely we are of signing them. I'd imagine its all well known as the agents are using the headlines to put the players in the shop window and so they're the ones giving the papers / fan sites the little bits of info

Lots of players in the world. We miss out on some we get others.
The most important part of our club is the management team. As long as they are here we will progress...I believe.

Ok, we may miss out in quality but we can also get some other quality in. Fingers crossed we land Robinson, and Swift...I think they will be very useful. If we don’t CWAK will look elsewhere.

Poor planning, really?

Does anything the club does in this area suggest we are poor at planning, certainly doesn't to me.

In the real world agents and players play this game constantly and all clubs either have to play along or pay more than the player is worth. I prefer my club to be prudent and not panic buy.

Yes we all want to see players coming in but we finished 9th last season ffs, I'm happy to trust that it is all in hand.

Sorry, nothing to add, it's just that my "finished 9th" claxon went off.

So now Freeman who we paid £5m for has been loaned out to the championship....

Most important recruitment drive in our history coming up in next 2 weeks.

I thought we used Football Manager like everyone else? :)

Beans and Roygbiv do.

Talk about nowt else in their excellent recent pod:*

Ben admits to taking the amazing and completely left field pick of 'best player from every other Championship team'.

* Not 100% true. A good short funny pod with our ROY at his usual grumyguts best,
