Looks like we're expanding our recruitment platform. It's clearly looking at players early on in their development.

Paul Mitchell, Head of Recruitment at Sheffield United FC: “SciSports’ Insight platform is the latest tool we have added to our existing recruitment process. With Insight we can support our live and video scouting with data scouting, targeting the right players that fit our style early on in their development in both domestic and foreign markets.”

I thought we used Football Manager like everyone else? :)

Presumably we are paying handsomly for this service when all we really need to do it don a pair of dark glasses and a wig and follow Brentford's scouts around?

Just reminded me of the Brentford scouts when Wilder said it costs millions to run. Wonder if we can afford to do it now 🤣

Do you mean the Brentford scouts that sit in a West London office block and have been using similar technology to this for a few years?

I’ve said it for a few months now. Our recruitment will be absolutely vital this season. Anyone else worried at the moment.

We have had confirmed bids for Robinson / Cash / Swift and all seem to be dead in the water.

Surely we planned this for months on end ? Now we just throwing bids out everywhere. Seems like there is no planning.

CW has shown he can get a team right up for anything. But the recruitment side of things is starting to worry me.

What bids are we throwing out everywhere?

Fulham apparently offering £50k per week...we arent going to pay that .Reading won't sell( basically we wont pay what they want) and no answer on Cash as far as I am aware.

Time to judge will be at the end of the window and not now.

Well it’s reported and widely accepted that we have bid for Robinson / Swift / Cash.

All seem to be now dead in the water. Surely these have been targets for us for months with months of scouting? Speaking with agents etc.

3 weeks before the season we don’t seem to be moving on with any of these transfers now....

You must see the logic of poor planning.

Whatever you think you know, you don't. I understand people worry, although I don't get why people make out like we've missed loads of targets based on paper and Internet talk.

When has Wilder let us down so far? Also I fully expect Wilder to be honest with everyone when he next gives a press interview. If he says he's not being backed or that we're not willing to pay the money we'll have to take his word for it. But at the end of the day he only came back to work yesterday. Nothings getting finalised until at least later this week

Are you drunk?

Excluding frees and loans being turned permanent, there are only about nine completed transfers so far this window across the whole of the Premier League. Is every club guilty of poor planning, or just us?

Isn't that making bids for realistic targets that we have identified as good fits in terms of position, attitude and cost?
Kind of the opposite of throwing bids everywhere??
🤷‍♂️

Don’t believe everything you read.
We have no idea what bids are really made and what approaches are happening.
The word “smokescreen “ springs to mind.

Poor planning, really?

Does anything the club does in this area suggest we are poor at planning, certainly doesn't to me.

In the real world agents and players play this game constantly and all clubs either have to play along or pay more than the player is worth. I prefer my club to be prudent and not panic buy.

Yes we all want to see players coming in but we finished 9th last season ffs, I'm happy to trust that it is all in hand.

The irrational panic from some of our nervous fans was exactly the same last season.
They said “we will be outbid by Villa” “we won’t pay the wages”....”no way will an international young player like Berge join us” etc etc.

We should learn from history.....Wilder, Knill, Mitchell and Betts have been identifying targets for months.
You can bet we currently have loads of irons in the fire...with a plan A, plan B (as backup) and even a plan C (as back up to the back up).

The message Wilder has consistently given is he only wants players who are keen to join with the right attitude to help the club and progress.
So if a player is waiting around for other offers or motivated by money then Wilder would rather they join another club.
Think Wilder’s history deserves that we trust him to bring in the right players. Bettis does have a proven track record of being an excellent wheeler and dealer.

Sounds good although I don't think we will see the benefits of this straight away. Mainly as we will go for a player that fits our system. Rather than buying a a player and then trying to shoehorn them in. These players will of course be in shorter supply than your run of the mill professional footballer.
The benefits will come further down the line I think or lead to us signing more foreign players not targeted by PL clubs.

We are missing out on our targets. You don’t bid unless you want the player. If other clubs are bidding for players and being rejected oneway or another then yes they are bad at planning too.

Yes so we idtenfied who we wanted, I guess we scouted them extensively for months. At one point we must be contacting agents etc to find out if it’s a go-er. It comes down too it the bids are rejected and the player doesn’t move. We surely should have been on at some of these for months. Like Swift at Reading they not played for anything for month.

How can you not realise that everything you have said is based on paper talk and rumours. It doesn't make them true. How do you know we've missed out on any of our targets? Have any of them signed for any other club yet?

Part of the problem I.e Shopping in the championship is some clubs have or are going all out for promotion spending cash. It’s not going too well for Nottingham Forest or Reading so you can see why they would be reluctant to sell any of their prized assets when the EFL is breathing down their necks (Wendy did it with forest fairy). I’m sure Readings owner has openly admitted that he doesn’t need the money from the Swift Transfer, it more a case of needing the player. Cash and Swift will probably have to kick off in order to get a move, not sure that’s in their character.

It’s not a coincidence that now Ricky has been booted off the S24SU forum that we’ve had to look externally for our player suggestions. I hope Foxy and Linz are pleased with themselves.

You might be right here but regardless I just can't help but think that if this was the other way round we'd more than likely sell if a Prem club came calling, despite no McCabe.

Okay the Prince may not be as wealthy as Forest's and Reading's owners (I'm not really sure?) so if the scenario was the other way around we'd probably need to sell because of being more in need of the money than the aforementioned clubs.

These transfers may still happen yet but however when a PL club comes calling for a player in a lower division the deal more often than not usually happens. I'll find it really worrying if we are struggling to make signings like this (not just the particular two in question but for any lower than us in the pyramid) especially now we've secured another season in the PL and finished as high up as 9th!

I know Wilder won't overpay for players and I do want it to stay that way but I'm just not that comfortable that in the past we've generally struggled in transfer windows and now that we're in the PL we're still finding it a struggle even for lower league players, what gives?

and meanwhile the man from Villa is following us, the cheats!
