Dont really rate him as a keeper, he will come good when he's older but as it stands he should be replaced by an experienced keeper. However ive just watched the goals back on sky none of them were Longs fault

first poor defending winger allowed to drift past the full back, Long no chance with the deflection

2nd defence all over the place he was never going to get the ball the defender should have dealt with it as he was in control of the situation.... kick it into the stand and argue about it later. Even after the mix up none of the other defenders even bothered to track the striker who is stood on his own two yards out to tap the ball in.

3rd shit defending again simple ball across the box the striker and his mate are both stood on their own in our area to tap in.. no chance for long

We could have had David de gea in goal and it would have made no difference on any of those goals.

2nd goal he started to come for the ball and stopped . He should have come all the way and claimed the ball or stayed where he was. As he came out he was out of position which made it easier to score.After the second goal you could see Basham having a go at Long.....did Long call and not commit ?

He has made two errors in two games now that have cost us.

I agree with your defence re the actual goals, but Long still needs to be replaced. He is not a vocal goal keeper from what I've seen and the defence must be affected by his form too. We need an experienced keeper who can marshall the defence, barking out orders and commanding his area. Every game Long flaps at crosses and his shot stopping and positioning leave a lot to be desired too. That said the defending yesterday was just non league standard.

I agree, what was needed was a true leader or captain to get hold of the defence and let everyone in the ground know it was they who were at fault not Long. Everyone on the pitch last night with the exception of Clarke owes Long an apology, he took the stick for their shortcomings in a truly awful night of football from a poor United team.
I also feel that Long isn't good enough at present and his recent performances do not reflect the quality he should have after making so many first team starts, but last night was awful on do many fronts to single him out is totally unfair.

Also Long is not the reason that we have scored only 2 goals in 390 minutes of football.

Long's communication is terrible. Even when I defended him last season I said his communication was still weak. With a new defence in front of him it is key the 'keeper organises them and helps them feel confident - the 2nd goal and indecision epitomised this, that was a keeper error. I really think having a more experienced 'keeper will make a massive difference to this team.

Remember the nadir that was Crewe away under Clough? One change was made to that side and we never looked back.

Problem is he's young and inexperienced... David de gea is 25/26 now but was throwing them in his own net at Longs age. Now he's considered one of the best keepers in the world

Nobody talks about the blinding one on one save he made against rochdale to get his defence out of the shit... just the mistake.... and nobody is asking where the defenders were for the rebound following his mistake

Would be better all round if he leaves, he needs to be in a premier league development squad where he can learn his trade not taking the flack for a shit league 1 club who are going nowhere

not the first time it has happened though. i remember in his breakthrough season him losing us a couple of games due to similar mix ups with collins.. when was that? three years ago?

if you are a keeper it is more about doing the simple stuff well. it is no good George making worldies all over the place and then letting in comedy goals in the same game

Long has been poor, but he cannot be held responsible for the lack of goals or shots on goals. The strikers should be getting as much stick as Long is.
