another run in the team of say over 5 games and he scores maybe 1 goal or maybe none... would people still rave about him?

A lot of people think he should be given another run... but how many more runs does Billy need to be shown that he's probably not up to scratch in the modern championship?

I'm curious as I believe Billy may have had enough chances however people think he deserves more. If so, then how many more?

On this premise then, Clark should be out of the team then, no?

It’s not all about how many they score although that is the main ingredient, it’s about if they can bring anything different to the side in achieving victories.

Well he was given a 'chance' last week in the cup - he scored. He's still up to it. I know it's fashionable to blame Billy for everything but it takes the biscuit when he's not even playing.
again, penalty. apart from that he didn't have a good game. if he didn't get that penalty then it would've been a dire performance overall. but everyone only sees the goals side of things but not about how he actually plays. he didn't offer anything

i'm up for benching clarke for the time being, ever since being given the armband and the talks of going to villa in the early JTW - he's gone downhill. probably needs a reality check as he probably thinks he's first name on team sheet

For me, the problem isn't that Billy, or Leon is out of form, it's that as a team we aren't creating the chances we were inside the area.

Whether that's a lack of Coutts, or that teams are respecting us more, I don't know.

What I do know, is if Bill gets the service in the right areas, he scores goals. As does Leon.

His goals have given us 12 points this season - more than a quarter of our current total, and that’s not including getting us to the FA Cup 5th round.

I think he’s the best goal scorer we have, by some distance.

Sharp will always produce when he's given service. He's never been as effective when asked to do a lot of the work outside the box. Give him chances and he will score goals!!

Get off his back and realise we haven't been giving him what he thrives on.

A penalty that he earnt I might add. Let's not forget that he has scored 9 this season despite not playing a considerable amount of games.

I also don't like the idea that we are giving Billy a 'chance' like we are doing him a favour and he doesn't deserve it for all the goals he has scored this season and the previous two.

Sorry to go all Tyler on everyone but no Billy = league 2 (probably) so we should be more grateful.

For fucks sake. Why are we looking for reasons to get rid of players?

Why aren't we extenuating the positives - especially of a player who was our top scorer last season and whose goals won us the points at the start of the season that put us top of the league.

Sometimes I really do despair....

Billy is damned either way!

When he's in the team and we lose, it's his fault, "he's too slow...the Titanic turns quicker....he doesn't run the channels....etc" and when he is out of the team and we lose he's the messiah and the solution to all our striking problems......until he gets back in the team and has a shocker, (which he has done often this season)....and the cycle starts again.

Silver said the problem is we aren't making chances.....I take it you didn't see the first-half on Tuesday when crosses were being whipped in first time, shots fired, woodwork hit and the opposition keeper forced into a series of saves....we are making chances all-right, just not sticking them away and being extremely unlucky in the process.....could Billy be the answer....maybe....but for me all Billy can contribute at the moment is possibly putting a chance away....and not much more.

Leon is having a lean spell but I think at the moment CW & AK appreciate Leons overall contribution, (watch how much ground he covers, how often he tracks back, how ofter he clears from a corner)....Wilson has twice the pace of Billy which we have been sorely lacking all season and The Don also offers a lot more both in terms of pace and in the air so for me they are ahead of him at the moment.

And then there's the enigma that is Ched....

I thought Billy would be okay and would get us 15-20 goals in the Championship, if he played most games.

I can see however that I was very wrong. In this 'modern Championship' (where 0-0 wins are so important), clearly Billy is a dinosaur from another age. It's no good Billy pointing to his 4+ goals since August 2016 or even explaining that his goal scoring has always come in peaks and troughs.

Billy must go. Several random blokes on the internet, who may or may not be proper Blades, plastic Blades or just wanker Blades, have said so.

Some Blades fans on Billy Sharp:

“Look, Lister, no point feeling sorry about Billy. It’s a kindness. Like a blind old incontinent sheepdog, he’s had his day. Take him out to the barn with a double-barreled shot-gun and blow the mother away. And I’m only saying that because I’m so fond of him.”

He didn’t just score the penalty, he won it, as he so often does, so winning us the game. Or did you miss that bit?

Our two best performances of the season came with him out the side. Wednesday away and Wolves at home.

The sooner Brooks is back, the better. He’s the one we are missing most, and he’s the one who needs to be playing alongside Clarke.

Do you actually watch our matches or just the highlights reel??

If you actually saw the games where Brooks started you'd know that Norwich at Home is more reflective of his current abilities than Wednesday Away.

He's an awesome impact sub but way short of deserving of a place in the starting XI...

I don’t know about starting every game but I personally believe that we would have got more points last month if we’d at least brought Billy on as sub for the last 30 minutes. He’s still the only striker that I fancy to score whenever he comes on the pitch and if given a chance and a bit of luck he will get on a roll again.

If not let’s hope Ched or Wilson regain some of their old form because I really don’t think the Clarke and Donaldson pairing will be the answer to getting more goals, commendable as their work rate is.

Without reading any of the comments can I make an observation. I come on here and it's continually mentioned for the last 2 months or even up to Coutts getting injured that our style of play has changed and that the CB doesn't overlap, Stevens and Baldock don't get quality balls into the box or the best one is that we have been found out.

Call me dumb and some people do, but does that not coincide with Billy stopping scoring?

My personal opinion is we go back to basics now we have Lee Evans in the side. Get Billy and Duffy back in the side

All about opinions isn’t it. Norwich at home is an unfair reflection as we played without a fit striker.
His best games came when he played off Clarke, and in my opinion our best performances were Wednesday and Wolves.

What we don’t seem to utilise is Sharp coming off the bench for the last 15.

This how he scored 'em last season. What has changed between now & then, if anything? Three areas himself, his team mates & the opposition. He's a year older, he looks a little heavier and a little slower. For the most part his team mates have been the same, but from the video the service that he is getting has altered. The opposition is better quality and that is impacting on both himself and the team.

He's still scored 8 in 20 though. Hugill scored 8 in 27.

On a side note, I can’t believe Billy isn’t even getting on the pitch at all, infact it’s rather baffling when you think of the lack of goals at the minute and Billy has the knack of getting a crucial goal in a game. Strange one really!

can't tell if this is serious or sarcasm due to you in the past slating my posts

ah yeah. of course i missed that :) he was just about to bang the ball into top corner wasn't he? if it wasn't for the stupid decision from their defender to slide in whilst billy was running away from goal. silly me
