Say goodbye to Brooks

All the comparisons to Lookman and how they got 7m for him. He played 39 games for Charltons 1st team, with a further 14 sub appearances, and scored 12 goals.

Brooks has, err, made 3 sub appearances in the league and started 2 league cup games, and people expect 10m for him?

I genuinely want whatever most of the forum appears to be smoking.
Everybody keeps trying to sell him Why??
He's quality and we will keep him, unless somebody comes in with an offer we can't refuse. Leave him B

Where have I stated we should sell him? We shouldnt, he is a very good prospect but people quoting daft money for him are blinded by the fact he plays for us.

How many appearance and goals had DCL before we gave him away to Everton and who is worth more now DCLor Lookman ?

It's a sellers market and according to Sky there were 27 scouts at the Walsall game watching him. That's 27 potential buyers and 1 seller. If you ever did economics the theory of supply and demand tells you we would be in a very strong position in any market never mind one as money heavy as football !

hardly any, which illustrates my point, that a million quid plus add ons (reported) was probably about the right price for him. Lookman at the time had way more experience, goals and relative success at the level, hence his price tag. Its easy to look back with hindsight now that DCL seems way ahead of lookman, but at the time ,the price disparity was probably about right.

I've read 9 pages on here and nobody answered questions how long the lad's contract is. I can't find it on Wiki or the club website and it says TBC on here.

Anybody know? Somebody guessed at three years, let's hope so.

The contract is critical and then only McCabe and the Prince can make an informed decision about the club's ability to pay the lad a daft wage as compared to his contribution in the remaining season and beyond. Only they know how good Wilder thinks the lad is, bear in mind the whole scenario has taken our manger a bit by surprise as only a short while ago he was off to Chesterfield. Will Wilder play him enough to really develop him and test him as much as the lad needs? Our manager's track record is not good with kids. All these factors need taking into account and indeed is there a bid yet? How much is a good deal, how big a sell-on clause can we negotiate and any return from that could never happen. Can we get him back on a year's loan, would we play him?

Only the owners can make a judgement, with the advice and sentiment of the manager whether say £5m and a big sell-on clause is appropriate and income we can utilise or do we increase our expenditure by say £10k a week and keep him IF the lad is willing to stay. The sub-plot to all that is how good the lad is. He shows skills but what is the quality of his final ball and his goal scoring week in week out. Freeman was agitated by his selfishness twice that I saw last Saturday, how will that pressure, other players' pressure, the manager's pressure, the crowd's pressure all affect the lad over a few months? Will he be a Slew or a Walker? Only time will tell, though he looks to have the comparable quality of Walker more than Slew's to be fair. £5m now or zero within 18 months and £750k extra wages in the meantime. The lad could knacker his knee or have his ankles demolished by a bad tackle just like that, how much is the insurance premium for that to add to the cost?

It's all part of the decision process. Who on earth seriously thinks McCabe enjoys selling lads for £1m who may be proved to be worth £50m just a few years later. Wilder is the key and the owners know they have a jewel of a manager and need to back his judgement. Personally I reckon Wilder would take the cash and use it to take us the next step forward. Brooks will be inconsistent for sure this coming season and how many times would he start games? It's all getting a bit late in this Window to spend any windfall so that might be key. By January will Brooks still be 'Boy Wonder'?

I've read 9 pages on here and nobody answered questions

I've read bloody hundreds of thousands of pages on here and had no answers too.

-What really happened at Chappaquiddick Bridge?
-How did Hannibal get his elephants to cope with the snowy Alps?
-Where is Lord Lucan now?
-Why is every snow flake crystal unique?
-Chicken or egg? What really came first?
-What is the meaning of life?

When it comes to his contract he signed a pro one when we were under Nigel Adkins.
So he is two seasons into his contract, but I don't know how long it was for, the information wasn't disclosed to the star on the article I read about him signing.

A little bird tells me he's gone . 3.5 million + add ons and sell on clause of 20 % . Looking to confirm tomorrow . 2 coming in aswell. One loan and one permanent.

Nah. Even we're not stupid enough to accept £3.5m. Sorry mate, but I'm not having that

Looks like he's just signed a new contract.

Great news - hopefully that means he's tied down for a while or at the very least has a hefty release clause that protects us from cheap sales

Wilder very bullish on not selling him too - unlike when asked about dcl etc

David Brooks signed a new contract at Bramall Lane earlier this year, Chris Wilder has revealed.

The Sheffield United manager, speaking at the Championship club’s training ground this morning, confirmed Brooks was handed fresh terms towards the end of last season but that “we didn’t chose to make a fuss of it” at the time.

“David did that in February,” Wilder said. “So we’re protected there. There’s not any worries on that score.”

Brooks, aged 20, has enjoyed a stellar rise since being plucked from the Steelphalt Academy following Wilder’s appointment 15 months ago. Having impressed during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie against Leicester City, he could make his first league start for United when Derby County visit South Yorkshire on Saturday. Brooks’ present agreement is believed to extend until 2019.

Good to see this confirmed but it's nothing new to me, I thought he had at least 18 months left. I got quite excited there for a second!

Hopefully 2019 means summer 2019, surely it will do if it's a senior contract he signed.

We should still be looking to extend it though. Because the better he does, the harder that'll get.

Purely hypothetical, would you prefer a £15m release clause valid from day 1, so if Spurs offered us £15m tomorrow we'd have to sell him, or a £5m release clause that doesn't become active until August 2019?

A couple of the youth team followers did actually say he'd signed a new contract, two or three months ago at least. I didn't realise it had never been officially announced.

That statement seem to be a bit of a 'hands off' to other clubs and reassurance to us, the supporters.

I don't think even United are that stupid as to sell a player with clear incredible potential for 3.5 million in this market.

When you look at the money being spent by premier league clubs it would be a horrendous deal when you look at Brooks likely future value.

Still think 2019 isnt long enough at the end of the season he'll have 1 year left same goes for fleck and occonell , the teams will be circling
