He played for 35 mins at Cardiff before going off injured with the score 0-0.
Were you there? We were seriously lucky to not be behind, we were being torn to pieces. We looked better with Wright on, they didn't get down the middle once he come on. They scored from a set piece when big Morrison was free and Mendez Laing tore Basham a new one.

I wasn’t there. I just think such heavy criticism of a player for a 35 minute performance in only his 3rd appearance for the club is grossly unfair.

Wright is rather slow and needs a bit of pace either side of him to help him.

I think the same applies if CCV or Stearman are in the middle of the 3.

Im not necessarily slating him with that, Wright did struggle along with the rest of the 5 (bar JOC) against Fulham's pace - it's more an observation that he definitely isn't quicker than Wright in any way shape or form, and dropping him for Stearman for pace reasons is absolutely ridiculous.

I have got to note that the original post was no dig at CCV! He has been brilliant and in no way was I suggesting dropping him because of one poor performance.

I am a huge fan of Wright, everytime he plays I tend to keep a particular eye on him and there is no way Basham can go on the bench, the same applies for O’Connell.

I probably overlooked Stearman. Would like to see more of him.

Its a great place for the blades to be when we have Baldock and Freeman back, leaves us with lots of options.

Would be intresting to see everybodys “strongest 11” I get the feeling we would all have difference of opinions.

Great time to be a blade!!

I think we have to consider the opposition and Birmingham on Saturday are likely to have the pace and strength Che Adams up top. Therefore I'd go with:
O'Connell ---CCV---Basham

Presuming Baldock isn't fit what about switching CCV & Bash and bringing in Stearman for Wright? I much prefer Bash in the back 3 and CCV is more than capable of playing RWB.

Baldock gives us balance that Bash doesn't. He also gets up and down that right-hand side like a proper wing-back. Bash is perfectly suited to a back 3 giving him the opportunity to step out with the ball. I'd say Baldock was a bigger miss last night than Coutts.

Tend to agree.
Stevens is good on the left and pretty consistent
But on the other wing with Baldock we have a real threat to create chances, he’s quick and tricky.
Takes the pressure off Duffy because he’s the one that creates the most.

What you need to learn is not to take something as a personal affront when someone has a different opinion to you. Your posts need to be a little less aggressive and abrasive. If you do go down this route you need to introduce a little subtlety. Our friend Tyler D might be able to advise you in this respect. Or you may just try to grow up.

Just looking back on this thread and I have to say what a load of shite you spout. You were the one who took umbridge when he disagreed with you about Wright. You then tried to have a pop with the "Something being beyond you" snidey comment. Then you lecture him with your "not to take something as a personal affront when someone has a different opinion to you".

dannysufc_ has demonstrated many times that he can stick up for himself without the offended-on-behalf-of-others brigade joining in.

We were discussing Wright's position in the O'Connell/Basham/Wright proposition for Saturday. What's your opinion?

What he lacks in pace he makes up for in experience and his organisational awareness and talking. Season before last, and in the shaky start last season we lacked some leadership on the pitch, and when he came into the side I don't think it's a coincidence that our winning run started.

If Baldock is fit I'd hope to see him in on Saturday, we looked weak on the right last night. Not sure then whether I'd play Wright or CCV in with JOC and Basham TBH, but Wright is definitely good enough for this division IMO.

Fair comment, my preference is for CCV with JOC & Basham too but I'd go for Stearman as an alternative instead of Wright. I'd also suggest that we'd need to give the back line priority in the JTW as we're a bit thin on the ground when you consider CCV is only a loanee, leaving us only four "regulars".

Agree, esp. if CCV were to be recalled. No doubt something to address Coutts being out will also be a priority. There's another thread just started on it recently, but I said a while ago that I'd like to see us go for Jamie Murphy on loan in the JTW, he'd give us some extra options on the counter attack.

The only problem I have with bringing Murphy in is that he's a very similar player to Brooks, which would raise my suspicion that this would be a precursor to us selling Brooks. Coutts is a problem, he's made that position his own and I can't see anyone on the horizon who could do the job within our budget.

Guess it would be interpreted that way by many. I'm optimistically hoping we've seen the end of the selling off our best young players scenario at least for a while, but we've done it for so many years it's hard not to expect it again.

CCV-Wright-JOC
Basham in midfield for me, however if last night has got to CCV then Stearman instead.
