We could just enjoy him whilst he’s here?Quite clearly some player in there and scouts have the ability to see that amongst the footballing elite £15m+ is nothing now.

He shouldn’t be in the Championship for 2 seasons running but I’m glad he is.

As for the national team manager saying he should move well maybe if you have the worlds best striker and some very very good players behind him then you should be at the World Cup?

I wish Hecky had made that point in the interview that followed! Solbakken managing the most talented Norwegian team of all time is as bad as Adrian Heath managing Kaka a few years back.

I love Sander, I love to watch him he is beginning to show the quality we paid for But I suspect like Illman and Anel he will be with us for a much shorter spell than players in the past. Modern footballers move much more readily and if they are very good, someone will take them at a higher level than United will be at the time, even if we're in the Prem. More and more footballers will gamble on not signing contracts knowing that they can command massive signing on fees and have their pick of clubs and countries. This is not a criticism of the players, it's not disrespectful to the club, it is the way that football is going. United will sell players in the future for less than their actual potential value, not because its bad business, but because it is the only option available at the time. Players will be judged on their attitudes at these times. I suspect Sander for example, is a far more honest individual than some we've had recently who let their contracts run out. As to greatest ever arguments I get both sides of the argument. I will just say that of every player I've seen in the last 50+ years of watching United, Keith Edwards was the greatest finisher. Both Billy And Deano were far better players, both played at a much higher level, but Edwards was the greatest finisher.

Kisses the badge but if Club Brugge come back in for him with the right bid in January he’s off 😂

But that won't be his fault.
There is a price United will accept, and if anybody comes in with that price, he's gone.

He could have forced a move through if he was so desperate to get away, but unlike so many others he didn't.

So he can kiss our badge for as long as he likes, he's more genuine in doing it than most others.

He’s only gone if he wants to be gone in that situation. He’ll do what he considers best for his career, as he should.

Yes, assuming it's a club he wants to go to

But I think he'll give it this season to try and get to the Premier League with us

If we go up, he'll sign a new contract, if we don't he'll leave.

Even by signing a new contract with us if we go up, I wouldn't expect him to run that contract to its end, he will want to try his luck elsewhere, if he has a half decent season.

As I said in another reply, my post was in jest. I appreciate Sheffield United isn’t where every player thats highly ambitious will see out their careers 😂

Question for you, answer honestly please.

Peterborough yo yo between the leagues, played in the Championship on occasions. So Ivan Toney will not be on any fans list as one of the greatest strikers they have seen in a Peterborough shirt because he was only in League 1 with them. All their greatest players will have played in the Championship for them.

That is your criteria, if you answer honestly you will realise your criteria is nonsense.
Not a serious intervention, and you need to be pretty old to remember, but Posh’s best ever goal scorer was Terry Bly, who scored an incredible 54 goals in their first season in the league in 1960 and 33 the following season in Div 3.

18 months left on his contract, had a few bad injuries and plays well every couple of games. Do we cash in Janaury IF we get a good deal? Yes for me.

No chance. Bet the house on promotion.
Sell in the Summer if we don't make it.
His value won't drop much between Jan and June and more people shop in the Summer.

Not unless we've got a quality replacement lined up. We're already light in that area and we've just been playing Ozzy there in Sander's absence so it's a huge NO from me.

Never been bothered who we sell, as long as we reinvest and improve the squad.
The success of the team is more important that keeping certain players.

The problem with Berge is that I can't see us being offered anything substantial.
Think any offer will be around the 12 million to 15 million tops.
If we did receive an offer in this range then we may as well keep him for this seasons promotion push.

If we receive a bid for 20 million, then that would be tempting.
We would need to have a good standard replacement midfielder lined up.

No, crackers in January when we are pushing for promotion, certainly in the summer if we don't go up. His fitness issues will reduce the asking price in January anyway. If we get a ridiculous offer and more importantly we have a potential replacement lined up maybe. I wonder if our early season form, even in games where he was less effective, was helped by teams setting up to combat his perceived threat and giving other players more space. I will be happy if he's fit enough to play in January.

Sell. His value will plumet come summer and his ability to stay fit is very questionable. He also doesn't have enough influences on games to suggest it's worth the gamble. If we can get a basic of high single millions I'd take it and invest in bringing someone who is a box to box midfielder.

I don't see the point in keeping a midfielder who will most likely get injured.

Also worth considering that the team is in dire need of fresh blood. Quite a few are reaching the ends of their contracts. Others with just a year left. We need to bring more permanent signings in and our only real income source is selling players. We have two saleable assets at the moment. The other is Ndiaye.

As ever, his injury situation will preclude any JTW bids of value as teams buying need something now.

Given he won't be doing that, everyone will sit on their hands and take their chances in Summer.

No no no, I'd hate to see him sold. People talk about him like he's injury prone - he's only had two that I can think of. One was the muscle detaching from his bone (which was described as a freak, rare and damn unlucky injury) and the latest one which was caused by an opposition player fouling him causing him to land awkwardly. Two unlucky injuries doesn't make him probe.

Injuries aside, I love watching him play, he's an outstanding footballer, and we needs players of his calibre if we actually want to progress.

Assuming the club has replacements lined up should he indeed go (as they did over summer), I'd expect Brugge to return with an improved offer given they've qualified for the next stage of the Champs League and will earn at least an additional £9m from it. Berge would also be able to play if signed.

Whether or not they'll offer an amount that's acceptable to Utd remains to be seen. I would guess Utd would deal if so.

Way your post comes across as If he's only had the 2 injuries in his SUFC career? Second season in the PL and last season he definitely had a bad injury in both, can't remember what they were though.

Berge had the bad injury in the relegation season that kept him out for ages and then did his hamstring last autumn when Slav was boss. I think the current one is his third lengthy spell out in his time with us.
