Sander Berge

When he's singled out as seeing the club as a stepping stone (which I have no problem with) it seems fairly obvious that if that stone sinks we'll have to let him go. We'll get our money back. We'll be a Championship club which reduces his value but he's shown he can compete in the Premier League.

Yeah, like all those Championship players we missed out on because we couldn't afford

Why was he called up by national team?

He's not even on bench today, clearly not fit.
I'd imagine just to be around another set of players and staff. Same reason Rashford was called up for England.

Still not changed my opinion, I'd try and get rid. Doesn't fit us, or the English game. Weak as piss with the heart of a pea. It's so obvious he doesn't want to be here. I'd even contemplate taking a minor loss on him, just to get him off the wage bill.

I like Berge but tonight has proved your point. Doesn’t want to be here. Lack of effort is now becoming a trait in his game. Get rid and buy English.

I thought 2nd half before he got subbed, he did start to drive forward, and slid a couple of passes through, but needs to do it from the start and more often.. Still holding out hope he'll improve, but realise he may be moved on in this window.

Great to see Sander getting a bit of game time yesterday. Has he been ready to make the bench for a while and Slav not picking him or was he genuinely still recovering from the injury ? I’m hoping Hecky was showing some intent that he’s a big part of the first team squad. I for one am hoping we keep hold of him and not let him go in January as he has some class about him and should flourish in the style of play we adopted on Sunday.

Berge back at the right time to try and stir interest for when the transfer window opens.
Or is this just me being cynical?

The return on Berge depends entirely on him being fit, whether that’s in performances or resale value. One question mark I have over Wilder’s big muneh signings is how two of them - Mousset being t’ other - are such knackers. Was there any indication of this before we signed them?

Mousset yeah he had never and still has never completed 90 minutes in English football his time with us mirrors his tone at Bournemouth in terms of not being able to get on the pitch. Berge no he hadn’t had any long term injuries before joining us.

Berge's time at United can be split in two before and after Man U at home last season. Before then he'd appeared in every game since joining (24 starts, 2 sub apps), after he's made 9 appearances in 45 league games and a third of those appearances have been as a sub. He wasn't a "knacker" when we signed him but he did have a freak injury and his recovery has been patchy.

Mousset, on the other hand, just needs constant care. It shouldn't be the club's responsibility but if he's not capable of looking after himself then we need to employ someone to do it for him.

You obviously didn't see the job description for the Player Liaison role we had the other month. One of the requirements was 'Going and checking Lys Mousset's pantry for food he shouldn't have on a daily basis'. The quicker we get someone appointed the better for Mousset's chances of not contracting diabetes in later life.

Like it or not, Mousset is incapable of maintaining his fitness at the required level. He has demonstrated that for two of his two and a half seasons with us. He needs a chef and possibly a full time PT.

I also doubt Mousset has anything in his cupboards at home which is why he ends up with a massive kebab and 20 chicken McNuggets for his tea.

Berge, being Utd's highest value asset is very important to the club and his sale will other changes to be made to the squad. However, in order for Utd to realise anywhere near what they paid for him, he'll need to (i) remain fit (ii) get in the side and (iii) perform as a player from a top 4/6 Prem / top Euro league should whilst playing in the Champ.

None of those are a given. Given it's nearly Dec and he's not yet achieved any of them, I'd say a departure in Jan is very unlikely with next summer far more likely.

Kids coming back from a properly serious (career threatening) injury. I can’t wait to see him back in the starting 11, but we need to be very careful not to overstretch him. 15 - 20 minutes here & there to get him back up to speed & make sure he’s alright will do me fine.

He’s a very talented footballler & one I hope we’ll see in a United shirt for the rest of this season at least.

For me, Berge will start v Cardiff on Saturday.

there are very few players in this league that are prepared to take the opposition on down the centre of the pitch like he can, and retain the ball, and play someone in on goal.

he'll be a massive asset in this division IF he keeps fit.

There’s something comforting to see that you can earn a living as a professional footballer with the diet I had as a student.

My student diet was pretty much split between Spaghetti Bolognese, Heinz tomato soup and a semi regular beans on toast with the occasional treat of a cheese spread on wholemeal bread sandwich with Walker's Worcester sauce crisps in the middle.

I'm thinking this would still be a step in the right direction as far as Mousse would be concerned!

lol - I have to think back to a lad who I shared digs with at Sheff Poly in the 70's who was from Ilkley

he was an absolutely car rally freak - and he spent virtually all of his student grant on a Mini Cooper S - he survived for 2 full terms on Beef oxo cubes and loaves of white bread - lovely had - fucking bonkers about cars.

Will always be thankful for him introducing me to Timothy Taylor beer, rock climbing and Rallying in the 70's - Mintex rally around Dalby Forest & Oliver's Mount in North Yorkshire was just mental.

Not sure many of our fans grasp how serious Sander's injury was. He isn't some sicknote player like Moose.

berge and brewster at their best can get us in to the play offs like 2 new signings

Moose doesn't have a pantry, he's got kebab shops and chip shops instead 😂

Big plus for me Sunday was hourihane and Norwood looking like decent championship midfielders so it’s a case of berge being tasked with coming in beating one of those two to the starting spot and making us better rather than us relying on him to come in and fix everything.

..or get another employer for him !
