Sander Berge

I'm so pleased for Berge. Showing now why we played £20m for him but also, next time, can we be more patient with new signings. We've had countless examples of how players have taken longer to show what they can do. Not every player starts like Vas Borbokis did for us! Berge has moved country, moved leagues, and under lockdown for most of his time with us, which can't have been easy without any family with him, there's only so many Zoom meetings anyone can take!

Well done Berge, looking classier with every match, and so pleased for the lad.

Dear me.

‘How to make about 50 internet people look stupid in 150 minutes’ - by Sander Berge.

I said next season. Turns out he’s even exceeded my expectations and decided he wants to get to grips with the League a bit earlier.
Thanks for getting injured Lunny.

👏🏻
Thought he was dreadfully out of position thus couldn’t show his quality? He was fantastic and didn’t look out of sorts at all. I reckon him and Norwood could prove to be in the same team. Well happy.

He has been out of position by even Chris’ own admission post Arsenal. He’s a holding midfielder by trade.
So yep, he’s surprised even me by what he’s done in these past game and half playing in that role that I thought didn’t suit him. He’s found an extra 10% from within himself which is fucking exciting.

I criticised him after Newcastle away as being awful that game.. and I was right that game.

I also said I was serious worried he was not up the Premier League... I am delighted to be proved wrong. 👍

I thought he played well again tonight. You can see his confidence is growing game-by-game.
He looked quality the spell near the end where they couldn't get the ball off him was viera esque and he's the only one who I think might actually do something when we overload that right hand side

I keep a real close eye on him (nailed my colours to the mast when multiple posters on here were trying to say he was dreadful and I saw the opposite...ahem).

He wasn't bad by any means in the 1st half but had little influence. 2nd half he was very good - so composed, excellent control, never in a rush, rarely gives the ball away and plays lots of brilliant disguised passes which catch opposition players off guard. The interplay between him, Baldock and Basham looks very promising to me.

He's my sort of player. Even when not obviously influencing play or driving forward, he takes care of the ball, buys time for his team and can hold off multiple opposition players at once. I love him already!

Another good game! He’s such a fucking unit it’s pretty mad he’s being asked to play the role he is doing. But he’s getting better. He’s very good in possession, protects the ball and always wants to move forward. Will replace Norwood in the not too distant future I think

Think we need one of those enamel badges with Wilder's priceless description - "The Big Norwegian Geezer".

Quality player, and he's a Blade! What I love about him is his willingness to follow instructions, he applies himself, and in such a short space of time we're already seeing a top class player. Worth every penny and then some, at this rate his value will easily treble!

He’s getting better game by game. the occasional sloppy ball aside I thought it was another good performance.

He’s starting to look more comfortable with where the other players (some of whom have had 3/4 years to learn the system) are going to be to give and go. And As others have said give him another 2/3 months of regular football with a settled side and we will begin to see the very best of him.

He's so strong on the ball, it just sticks to him and his first touch is really good. He's going to be brilliant.

He was excellent again. He seems to glide around the pitch. I’ve noticed that he now rarely loses the ball when it’s at his feet either, using that size and strength effectively.

He was good. I thought he moved less through the opposition with the ball than he did in the last two. Not bad by any means and he was doing it more later on.
Our options in him and some of the forced changes are incredible.

Winning more headers and appears to be stronger on the ball and really starting to make that position in the team his own now. Chuffed for the lad

He’ll make a great captain one day and I hear Wilder loves his attitude.

The guy becomes a club legend in my Football Manager save - I think I ended up selling him to Real Madrid for £70m aged 29!

I love some of the clips here (as well as the 'Welcome to Liverpool' bit!):
