Outgoing? SANDER BERGE ON WAY OUT ?

All strength and depth needed. This is bigger picture stuff and everyone has something to offer.
 

But if has to be anyone worth a few bob then I would prefer it to be SB. That said is prefer it if the board paid up the missing instalment, got the embargo removed, and we retained our players til the end of the season where hopefully we are a new PL club again. It will be disappointing if we have to sell now. Not buying players in the January transfer window is one thing, but selling some of your players is another thing completely. Still, if needs must. Please don't sell Ndiaye though United cos of he goes I can see us losing out on promotion.
 
The idea of going ahead with selling Berge is going to complicate, if not throw a spanner in, any takeover.
Who will need to approve it?

The wins with and without him stats going round are ridiculous. He was out injured when the likes of Bogle, Lowe, RND, Clark, Fleck and Mcburnie were all missing.

He's useful to the team in our aim for promotion, so I'm for not selling, but you are also right that 3 of our defeats came in early October during a period when the defence was all over the place, with Kadra, McAtee and 2 teenages having to be picked as wingbacks.
 
Just as an observation and I know it depends on what the new manager thinks there, but James Garner has hardly played for Everton. He hasn't been injured I don't think and he's missed the squad for the last 6 games.

Seems to be far too good a footballer to not be playing.

If we got put in an impossible situation with Berge then here's a player I'd like us to consider on loan. Even a possible loan to perm.

EFL don't process out of working hours. We'd have to sell Monday, hope EFL instantly lift the ban and get an incoming before close of play on Tuesday. Unless we know for 100% we could do that I wouldn't entertain selling unless absolutely nothing else can be done.

The whole thread since the embargo news broke, summed up in a simple sentence. There’s really nowt more to add until either the transfer window “slams shut”, we pay the debt or Berge gets selt.
 
I've always always held out hope for Berge- but truth be known he's been a bit of a flop- some of the latest games on playback must make him cringe how much Norwood is involved and how little impact he has.

THat said if you were in the Boards shoes what would you let him go for- I'm at 12 Million- but I dont think anyone will offer that.

No matter what amount he goes for there will always be folk not happy. As long as it gets us out of this predicament then 10m to 15m for Sander will do me. I'm going on the premise that we will be promoted this year with £200m worth of wonga waiting for us.
 
If the rumours about Newcastle forcing the Prince to sell are anything to go by, they owe us a favour and buying Berge for a “good” price may be a way of paying compensation
 
If Chelsea and Newcastle are interested we should get more than any of us think he's worth. Chelsea are paying 30m for players I've never heard of and Newcastle are supposedly paying 45m for Gordon. 20m has to be the starting point doesn't it?
 
There won't be a replacement. All we will achieve is paying off debts, maybe that's urgent and the new owners don't have the money or willpower to pay it off, but let's not paint this as anything other than bad news.
We should still comfortably make the top 2, but all we'll have done is weakened the squad significantly and increased the number of positions we need to fill to have any chance of surviving next season. Not a good start for the new regime

To be fair, there's no guarantee that the takeover will go through.
So if the Prince has no access to cash (and it seems he doesn't) then we will need to sell to service these debts.

If we do sell Berge, I'd assume the prospective new owners will have been consulted and agreed to the sale on the basis that it mitigates the risk of the embargo carrying through to transfer windows beyond this one.

It's disappointing if we have to sell Berge and I don't think there's going to be time to replace him, but if it needs to be done for the club's sake then so be it. He's not been that good anyway.
Losing Ndiaye would be a disaster.

Completely agree, I just think anyone who's thinking this is good news in terms of squad improvements and that we can go out and replace him adequately is in cloud cuckoo land.

Like you say though, the future of the club might be at stake and that absolutely has to come first

I do wonder what happens if Newcastle come calling for Berge or Ndiaye given who the owners are.
