Outgoing? SANDER BERGE ON WAY OUT ?

I agree. I would be surprised if he hasn't already instructed his agent to start looking elsewhere. There is no way he will be dropping down to the Championship is we go down. I think we will at least make out money back on him.

If we somehow survive I still think he will opt to see what else is out there after this nightmare season.
Can't fault the lad. At. All. Absolute quality like that and he's played out of position, unable to showcase his abilities. Wasted. Absolutely fucking wasted at this club.

Great idea let's not copy Norwich and run at the top the table.Instead have a fire sale sell the best and look to the bottom of the Championship

If you think a prospect like Berge will happily drop down a league, you're very much mistaken, and likely to be very dissapointed. Not being a dick, just being honest.

What you want is someone like Man City to see him as a long term replacement for Fernandinho.

Hold firm and get 40-50m for him. Have to remember he's just 21, already played in the Champions League.

If Aké at 25 can command 41m, then Berge at 21 can certainly equal if not better that.

Just have to hold firm.

He’s 22 and turns 23 in February.

Blades way isn’t it.
Anyone really good should be sold.

If we were to get relegated we should do our best to hold on to him until January at least, if we're not in with a shout by that point then we make a decision.

Berge will not be playing championship football.

We’ll possible make our money back on him, but why would anyone pay anymore than we did for him? They don’t have to, we are not going to be in a position to keep him.

We will make a profit on Berge, compare him to the likes of the pudding centre back that Villa spent a fortune on and Man City signing the centre back from Bournemouth.
I am confident that we bought him at a low price which will guarantee making at least £10 m

We said that about Cantwell, Aarons and Buendia at Norwich. Their asking prices weren't met in the summer so they're all still there.

Ake had played about 150 Premier League games. He's left footed and plays a position that's at a high premium. City were also desperate for defenders.

Thomas Partey just went for £45m. A 27 year old established top level player with 150 La Liga games and 30+ CL games (and not just the group stages like Berge). I know Partey had a release clause but £40-50m for Berge is just not going to happen when nobody knows if he's actually good yet, especially in his actual position.

We've made a colossal fuck up of handling him from the start. It's like we are trying to depreciate our own asset

Partey is 27. He has no potential uptick in value. Berge is 5 years away from reaching peak value.

But I do agree that we need to decide if he plays RCM or DCM. Flicking between the two week to week won't help his progress.

There is zero chance Berge ever goes for more than the "40-50m" you said in the first post though. That would be the absolute peak value of his best case scenario career

I'd settle for getting our money back to be fair.
I get the logic but we'd need to buy three central or centre-right midfielders if Berge leaves. We already need to replace Lundstram (leaving) and Norwood (lost his ping).

Thought McCabe had left the club

Brenford held out for exceptional prices for their main assets, Im sure we can do the same
Depends if there is a relegation / release clause in his contract

Regardless of what we need to do with replacements, I'm not convinced on the showings he's given (and our plight) that anyone is going to be racing in to splash out mega dosh for him. Would love to be proved wrong though :)

Arsenal can't afford to buy Berge from us ....

McCabe has gone now so no discount deals or BOGOF and if we sold him we'd be looking for north of £50m as a starting point.

He's not the problem ...... the team not performing as a team is the problem :(

Plus the fact that we couldn't score in a brothel of course

i think he will be sold in january but not a chance of getting 50m for him 25m max and if he wants to go so be it same with any of our other players who dont want to stay ps wonder if swansea might take mcburnie back on loan in january with a view to buy back in the summer i think we would let him go

There is no way we will sell Berge in January unless a silly money bid comes in and the only way Swansea would be able to afford McBurnie is if they got promoted.

The best we can hope for in January is a couple of loan signings and maybe a left field one from Belgium.

i dont think you can say no way we will probably be further adrift come january and if a bid of 20m plus comes in for sander i think we will sell its also possible we havent paid the full amount for mcburnie yet anyway so swansea may come in for him but hes not a premier league striker and he doesnt fit us similar to callum robinson imo

What has he done to increase his transfer value 2.5x since he's been here? How will an already-doomed United hope to hold out for £50m for a player who will surely be out the door the minute we're relegated?

Why would we sell Berge for less than we paid when we won't be able to sign anyone to replace him?

And while we will owe Swansea for McBurnie, again there's no benefit to us in shipping him out. He's on £20k per week - a pittance compared to the £100m+ income we're getting each season.

We won't be a Premier League team next season, so I think we might keep McBurnie for that reason. I agree re Berge though.

yes berge will go but your probably right about mcburnie its obvious championship is his level and if we do go down think sharpy might still be handy off the bench even at 35 we would have a very good squad though imo

Norwegian media outlet VG have suggested that it’s ‘very unlikely’ he will stay in South Yorkshire beyond this season – regardless of Sheffield United’s fate.

He is not leaving in January, unless someone offers silly money and based on his performances knowones going to offer silly money.
