It’s beyond me why people feel the need to write players off, or labelling them a disappointment after a mere handful of games.

Very happy for him tonight. That £25m will look a snip in years to come.

Absolutely spot on mate! I know it’s all about opinions but the haste that some fans have to write our players off is mind boggling. I wonder how they‘d feel if they were only given 2 or 3 weeks in a new job like Berge had before being assessed and then derided? It seems to me that some can’t wait to jump in with both feet maybe because of the price tags, but surely they must also have seen players with far bigger price tags at other clubs taking far longer to find their feet?

The assist reminded me of a proper sporting cliche about the best players - showing the skill, composure and awareness that makes time appear to run slower.

He took that extra step to send the defender and deliver the cross, but never lost balance composure or accuracy.

Not going to lie, will hold my hands up after his first few appearances I was concerned. But when you take a step back and realise this is a young lad who’s moved to a country he ain’t familiar with, playing in a position he’s never played in before the last 4/5 games (till in a couple of years he eventually slots into the Norwood role) he has been absolute exceptional. He made every midfielder in that spurs midfield look bang average tonight, the past 2 games he has been by far the best player on the pitch (besides mcburnie tonight who I think was motm) he has been different class the past 2 games, particularly tonight but the thing that gets me the most is he’s already bought into what it means to play for this club. His last 2 post match interviews discussing “the Sheffield United way” Chris has drilled this into him and you can’t help but see past a dedicated young lad who is desperate to do his best for this football club.

He has stepped up at absolutely the right time, after some criticism. It felt like he was being shoehorned into the midfield previously, but now half of our midfield is injured, so he gets the shirt without any question. That brings its own pressure, but he looked almost liberated today. Nobody could get near him on the ball.

After a so-so start, this run-in could be his making with us.

What these people fail to.understand is that although twenty million buys you a lot of homing pigeons and whippets ,in premier league football it buys you players with potential who you can develop and mcburnie and berge are in that category ,the finished article players they expect to see cost a hundred million and a million a month in wages and are out of our reach

Being offended is what happens when somebody throws the Xmas present you gave them in the bin or the people you are cooking Sunday dinner for stop off at McDonald’s on the way over.

I’ve no issue with people pointing out he looked lost in the first few games, it was fairly obvious. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and the game would be boring if they weren’t.

What irritates me is supporters not supporting and instead simply making demands and giving extreme opinions after defeat. Saw one person on twitter describe him as “utter shite” until last night. Utter shite is Nyron Nosworthy or Michael Higdon.

If he’d been on fire from the start we might be still in with a realistic shout of the Champions league. But he wasn’t and I can live with that, £25m buys you potential not a ready made world beater. There was an argument for playing Lundstram instead if we wanted to be at our most competitive in the short term but Wilder has gone with the medium to long term view and supporters should at least understand why.

It would be a different story if we were fighting for our lives and Wilder was giving a lad game time who clearly wasn’t ready.

I've got to pick you up on that. Mousset is a far better finisher than McBurnie on current evidence but in terms of overall play for the team McBurnie is miles ahead. Mousset is a goalscorer and not much more; McBurnie's closing down from the front is why he's ahead of Mousset in Wilder's pecking order. That, and the fact that Mousset seems to be able to last 45 minutes tops.

Well I will hold my hand up admitting I had doubts about him along with a lot more fans.Can not remember slagging him off but I was not at all impressed with him until now.I am over the moon that at last he showed us what he can do and more than happy he as proved my thoughts to be wrong.Some of the fans reactions to him have been vile rather than critical and they should be ashamed making it personal .He is a Blade and should be shown respect and supported not slagged off but constructive debate is fair game.So pleased for the lad ,he must feel a lot happier today as we all do that at last he is beginning to shine and fit in.
