Wonder if this is linked to the rumour of something else going on that will be bigger than the Ched Evans debacle.

I truly hope, for Sammon's sake, that it isn't and it is actually a confirmation that he is just a useless lump of detritus.
Does it mean we can sack him?

UTB

I still think this signing was agreed by Clough and Brannigan long before Adkins came in and was merely rubber stamped when Adkins took over. Adkins may have said no but maybe figured he was a Champ level striker that would add competition.

Exactly what I have thought as well.

He rarely mentions Sammon in interviews regardless of whether he is playing or not.

Perhaps the club have discovered a clause in his loan deal which states he has to play ;)

Here's an interesting stat, to say Sammon is supposed to be a big target man, he has not scored any of his 6 goals for us with his head.

I don't think he is a target man, he plays better when he gets the ball to feet. However the last couple of times I've seen him play he's been a good yard behind play and never competed enough.

Should be send back to Derby. Pointless signing.

He certainly fits the criteria for a Clough striker signing: poor scoring record, slow, gets injured frequently.

It's amusing that the only forward Clough signed who didn't fit this bill - McNulty - was the player he criticised the most.

Sammon is not an aerial target man and I cannot understand why he is played in that role. The best games he has played for us is when he is running the channels. Sadly very rarely. First game against Chezza comes to mind.

Have a read on his Wikipedia site. He's never a had a good run of form, hardly ever been a regular first teamer and yet two clubs paid big fees for him. Strange story, well worth a read.

I'm convinced he has no ball sense. I don't blame him for it but I suggest he has had a thoroughly miserable football career. The money is some compensation of course.

But if we want someone to run the channels then get someone with pace, If we want a target man get a big guy who can win the ball in the air and hold it up.

IMO Sammon is neither unfortunately.
