Samir or Lundstram? Or neither?

I feel like this is lundstrams big opportunity now. He’s had a mixed start to his career here - some really good performances and some when he has looked a little out of his depth and wanted too long on the ball.

But there is Every chance he will get at least 10 games to establish himself without having to worry about doing enough to replace coutts. Word from Oxford was that he took time to adjust to league one before impressing in the second half of the season. He will only improve slotting in there regularly with flesh and building a partnership.

Let’s see how he gets on against a string Fulham side

The bottom line is, we as fans can't keep banging on about how our strength lies in that we're a true team before then despairing that one of our players is out.

No-one denies how key a player Coutts is for us but as long as we have others with the right attributes and attitude, they can come in and the team, if we are what we say we are, will still succeed.

I think of all the possibilities in centre mid, I'd go with Basham, however reading Wilder in the Star tonight, I reckon he'll go with Lundstrum.

I think with the opposition of an attacking midfield 3 in brooks, duff and fleck it will leave us so so vulnerable to counter attacking teams who will do what happened in league 1 where teams sat back and counter attacked us with our over lapping centre backs. That’s why I think Lundstram or bash will be perfect as they can act as a screen for the back 3 whilst also having the ability to bomb forward and have that box to box presence.

To be honest - I'd be happy with any of the above 3. When Stearman is back why can't we shove Bash into Midfield??

Well considering Basham has been playing RWB, if Baldock is fit, why wait for Stearman?

I would put in Basham if Baldock is fit. Lundstram if not but with either option, Carruthers should get some extended game time now and a chance to get a shirt back.

Hmmm let me see. Let’s play a centre back in midfield, or a wing back in midfield or juggle the whole freakin’ team around!

We will never know if our other kids like Lundstram or Carruthers are good enough until we actually give them the chance to prove it. We cannot go on like this as what would we do if we get to the prem when we would HAVE to trust in proper replacements.

In Wilder and Knill I trust.

Listening to Tufty’s interview, the guy is a managerial genius. He has subtly challenged Lundy and Samir, and effectively put them in competition for the shirt.

He’s obviously going to give them both game time and is saying prove to me that you’re the better man.

Competing with your teammates is uncomfortable, but far more personally motivating than competing with opponents. F1 drivers always say that your biggest rival is your teammate.

I think that we’re in for some inspired performances from both.

Magic Days

I would play Coutts , he'd still be the best on the pitch even with his pot on ! 1234 !

Before Wilders arrival our squad was littered with a fair number of 'Lily Livered',wage thieving, under achieving twats who would never 'rock up' if there was a battle to be won.It isn't like that now, whoever plays during Coutts absence will give us and the club 100%,all you have to do is give this great bunch of players your full support !!

Either will cover the role. then in Jan and then we go in and get Ryan Leonard, to push for a place as well, balanced and good options all round.

I expect both Samir and Lundstram will be chomping at the bit for this chance, a chance they would not have been normally given with a fit and playing Coutts.

I would be surprised if Lundstram doesn't get the nod. I would also like to see him get a run of games, see what he is actually made of.

Easy the option thag CW goes with which will very obviously be Fleck and Lundstram.

Possibly, so would many midtable sides. Although they probably wouldn’t want to lose their star player either
We do not have any star players. Just players who are Top quality and some hit a rich vein of form.
Over the past few weeks it has been Duffy and Clarke.

I'm sorry. I'm all for getting behind the lad etc etc., but you have to call it as you see it. He's invisible to me. There's too much arriving too late and swinging a leg at someone who has just left the place he's arrived at. It's almost like, "look,I got there, but just missed him. At least I made the effort". Also in the first half I took particular note of him and his marking. He was almost playing zonal as though hedging his bets. Creativity going forward was there none. Quite a bit of pointing a la Harper. I had my doubts. Still do. I don't think he's the answer.

I knew it would have been his fault somehow. You must have watched a different game to me. Watch the build up to our second goal and tell me how he ‘almost got there’.
