2010 same owd edition now on sale !

Next attendence at BDTBL ...........higher or lower than Preston ?

just over 17,000.

Now we know for sure, McCabe is totally and utterly skint.

Depends on the ticket offers and Scunny's support.
If it's a tenner game, might get something similar.
If not, it'll be well under.
McCabe's given up, so have thousands of fans.
No leadership, no direction, no soul, no real point.

How many clubs have made any signings in the championship today? I think there will be more loans for all lower league teams once the premier teams have announced their 25 man squads tomorrow. It isn't perfect, yet it seems to be the way of the world at the moment.

How many clubs in 2nd tier have sacked the manager, brought a new man in and promised fans last Spring that we would not be relying on the loan system?

Yep, must be down to his last few hundred million. He's always preferred selling to spending when it comes the team has our Kev. We need changes & ambition at the top or battling to retain our Championship status is the best we can hope for.

As much as I hate the constant negativity (as a fully fledged clapper) from some on here I have to admit to being a little disappointed tonight. I really don't want us to rely on the loan system again, although looking at Saturdays team we had 3 out of the 4 defenders on loan already.

As a statement of faith in the new manager I'd like to have seen the Club go out, sign the couple of players we need to be really competitive this season and allow Speedo to have put his own mark on the squad. Loans are no good to us in the long-term, we need to start building a squad that's supplemented by loans - not the other way around.

Would it have been too much for McCabe to allow Speed to have done this? If he keeps up talk of promotion, we've got to allow him to at least have a fair crack at it.

How many players have we made offers for? How many have we contacted clubs to see if they were available? How many clubs have we turned down when asked if our players were available? You, like me, can't answer that. Obviously because we haven't signed anyone it must mean we haven't tried.

Do you want us to sign players for the sake of it, just to please the minority of fans who feel that new is better? Yes we have been told that we won't use the loan system like we did last year, but hey it hasn't happened like that. The most influential player from last season was signed on loan and then a full deal was done in Jan - maybe that is the way to go this year. But if that is the case some people wouldn't be able to moan and grumble and complain and whinge etc.

If McCabe came, weighed anchor over your chips and pissed all over them would you then thank him and ask for Gravy? We apparently had money to spend now making your assumption we were trying hard to sign players that possibly says no one wants to come to the sinking ship, we weren't offering enough money (surprise) or we actually sat on our hands with the millions at our disposal and said "naa, we will go up with this squad".

McCabe has scuttled into the shadows again and gotten away with it. I don't believe that its a minority who want us to sign players to be honest with you, I think its most people who see what we have ISNT GOOD ENOUGH.

I:heart: Warrington.

What has McCabe 'gotten away' with ? Exectly what 'isn't good enough'? That we didn't break our wage budget to sign players ?Do the majority of fans just want us to sign players or players that will actually improve the squad ?You are implying that we give players wages that they want ! Surely you can't be serious.

How many of our rivals have spent money today? Cardiff have brought in loans yet many seem to be raving about Bellamy,Keough etc. This has been one of the quietest transfer windows for years.

Some on here and many of the paperboys on BladesMad are almost hysterical with the fact we haven't signed anyone today. Most business will be done in the first 4 weeks of the loan window for most clubs and that was always going to be the case.

im not at all concerned about the lack of a signing today, we arent having a promotion season whether we sign bellamy or bannan or even a bananaman

i am perfectly happy with watching us slowly change the ethos and culture of what is there already and then see if we can ship out one or two in jan and find adequate replacements, then do something similar next summer, slowly but surely change.
changing style, ethos, culture and ideals isnt going to happen on one transfer deadline day, or even over the course of a month or two - its going to take time so I for one wont think twice about todays non-movement.

Bit disappointing for me. Speed identified a need for some pace in the side and stated he wanted one, possibly two players in before the window closed.
Now we have a new officail statement saying he wont be crestfallen if nothing happens.

Lets hope Speed turns out to be a good manager because I cant see us winning many games playing how we did against Boro and Preston.

Its early days in the new system but much improvement is needed, and I suspect a few more personnel.

Hope I'm wrong but Ive got a feeling this season is going to be a long hard slog.

bang on - this season is definitely going to be a tough slog at times, but that was the case even if we signed two crackerjack players, patience is going to be needed in abundance.

the personnel does need more than a tweak, but we have signed on a few on longer term contracts who cannot really fit into a team of ball players, so we have to accept we have limitations in our wage structure for the time being and then accept that it will take more of that pesky time.

Total yes man, just a nodding dog sat on the rear parcel shelf.

Was always reflected in the way he put up with Blackie's hoof ball.

Patience is required though or we will go the way of the piggies. Tough times ahead but we need to take things on the chin, hope the chin is as big as Brucies and Jimmy Hills combined.

Sadly already looks very much that way. Keeping Ellis to save money also fits.
Goals could be like gold dust with our frontline and as it stands, staying up could be an achievement.

Early days yet and we will have to see if the new changes in style of play will bear fruit in time. Looks like we havent got much choice as I cant see any radical change in personnel.

Not sure its just down to the forwards though, there has to be better, sharper movement of the ball from front to back.

What isn't good enough? Mmmm, old £3m up front isn't good enough. Most of our first team aren't good enough (proven over the past 12 months or so). We have a team that is either always injured (Henderson £2m) or just not performing. Now if Speed can get them working and playing football then thats fantastic and we are all saved. However, this does raise the question why we said money was available and then why Speed said he was looking for players.

I think its fair to say most on here, even the happier element would agree we are both wafer thin in terms of first team players and even more wafer thin in actual quality. We are a couple of defenders light, a left wing devoid of a left winger and a goalscorer away from challenging for anything as I see it.

Being practical is not implying that we give anyone the wages they want. But there is in my opinion a gap between what we are offering players and what they want. Lets forget Cardiff becuase they are a set of Welsh cheats who shouldn't actually be allowed to do what they are doing. But look around, other clubs have recruited. Donny Rovers bought Billy for around £1m. Where the hell did that come from? The pigs got Clinton Morrison, a goalscorer. Its not about how much money you spend, its the fact that our squad is creaking with years of neglect on quality.

My last question would be a simple one. Where the hell has all the money gone? I got stuck around the £13m mark a while back on players we had sold. Chuck in the £25m (in installments) from West Ham and I think its a bloody fair question to ask where the money has gone. Lets chuck in the 2 years parachute payments as well if we may. Thats what McCabe is getting away with and its what the fans are obviously resigned to. He is the master of calling Radio Sheffield from his place in Brussels and telling us how much its all hurting him etc etc. He dodges bullet after bullet at the fans forum because he is a clever man. Fact remains we have shipped out every quality player we ever owned and they are currently a team of chuggers and triers. My frustration is that we missed a golden opportunity to be far, far better than we are.

Yep, McCabe constantly harps on about how much he has spent on players - conveniently ignoring the fact that: 1. no club has sold as many of it's best players in recent years as we have and 2. player sales + Tevez money + promotion money + parachute payments etc far outweigh the amount spent on players.

A decent signing would've helped, but I fear that Speed isn't going to start attracting fans back for a while unless we start becoming convincing. :(

So you are saying that McCabe is to blame for the players the managers have bought? So you are complaining he has provided the money but then complain when he doesn't. He cant win .How is it McCabe's fault if players are injured ?

A couple of defenders light ? Calve,Jordan,Bartley,Nos,Morgan,Lowton,Ertl...with Kizluck,Taylor as back up .is that not good enough at this level ? I agree we are a left winger and pacy striker short....doesn't make us a 'thin' squad though does it.

John Ryan bought Billy,Donny haven't actually improved there squad from last season. Cardiff have in effect been subsidised by the premiership cluns re their loan signings. They have a paper thin squad and will struggle if they get injuries.

Clinton Morrison ? A goalscorer? That's why loads of championship clubs were queing up for him. His stats would suggest he is not that prolific at our level. Our wage budget is highler than the Pigs so if Blackwell wanted Morrison,I am sure we would have got him...instead we got Boggy who will be on a higher wage

Where has the money gone ?...what about wages, signing on fees and agent fees during Robson's folly(yes,McCabe and Terry to blame on that one)...think of the wages, signing on fees spent on Beattie,Naysmith,Ehiogu,Hendrie,Carney and Sharp...i reckon there must be at least £5.2million in wages just in that lot for a year. Add that to the £7million in transfer fees and god knows how much signing on fees...about £14million gone already. Then there are the other high earners of the period such as Killa,Morgs,Kenny,Henderson,Evans Etc

19000 season ticket holders will bring in £5.7mill at an average of £300 each(however we had a few thousand kids are fee tickets)......by my reckoning that would leave us at least £12million short in a year at that time....simple maths but I hope shows where the money goes

Not good enough is the squad, not the chairman himself although you may argue that to be the case! I'll explain why.

Calve - unproven.
Jordan - unproven
Bartley - seems decent so you can have that one
Morgan - Top class
Lowton - Sent off first game and unproven
Ertl - Defender, midfielder? Don't know for sure and neither do the management by all accounts. Lets say defender and you can have him.
Nosworthy - Hardly Mr reliability but I'll give you him.

Based on that you want two players fighting for each position I would say we are at least a couple of defenders light. The fact that you mention Kozluk and Taylor as backup says wafer thin to me, neither are good enough at this level.

No left winger and no striker really does make wafer thin. For instance. What are we going to do if Morgan gets suspended, Evans gets injured and Ward gets injured. All three could happen quite easily and I don't see any quality replacement. Thats wafer thin.

Another scenario, Monty suspended and Britton gets injured. Perhaps move Ertl out of defence but then you are light there. Perhaps stick Quinn in the middle but then you are light elsewhere.

Whichever way you look at it we are a couple of suspensions and/or injuries away from a problem.
