So actually seeing someone with my own eyes is a baffling thought process?

Each to their own though as you say

So, you'd sign a player having seen him play just three times in sixteen months?

S'pose it's better than having signed him on Championship Manager or a few highlights on the FLS.

You're wasted on here.

We did sign Coutts and Wallace to be fair who'd probably only played three times between them in 16 months.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't recall anywhere the fee for signing Morsy mentioned. £200k keeps getting bandied about but the only reference I can see to that amount of money is a quote from Chesterfield Director Ashley Carson. When defending the decision to allow Morsy to go he said "“How many of you will have a whip round to pay the clubs wages, approx £200,000 every month?”

I read this as meaning "You lot have no idea how much it costs to run a football club. This is our wage bill and if we have to sell players to do that then we will. Oh, and balls to the lot of you".

Does anyone have a link to where a £200k transfer fee has been spoken about?

Would you want to live in Gillingham?

Stayed in Gillingham one night for work.
When staying in hotels for work I like to do a bit of research on where to eat, local geography etc. because most of the time I arrive too late to be fannying about. I had found an Indian restaurant on the internet that looked good so decided to eat there. My hotel was a short walk from the end of the High Street so decided to walk down there and back up to the restaurant. Holy shit. It was like the frontline of an Eastern European civil war.
On the way to the Indian, I stopped in a boozer a couple of doors down to work up an appetite. When speaking to the guys at the trade event I attended the day after, they said that I had been in probably the roughest boozer in Kent!!!:)

Where did i say that they were the only 3 times i had seen him play?
My inlaws are all Chesterfield fans and i have seen him play quite a few times and any Chezzy fan you speak to will tell you he is their best player.

I was just pointing out that even in the 3 games that he's played against us, which might be the only ones that most Blades fans will have seen, that it was easy to see the quality he possesses.

But you feel free to carry on patronising me and anyone else who knows a quality player when they see one

Are they football scouts too?
You have to admit, there's a helluva lot of 'em around these parts, yes?
The three times you've seen him personally, does that include the 2-3 at The ProAct, when it was Ryan/Doyle who stood out for Chesterfield?
As for the pretty meaningless 1-1 under FLN (that's for you Ricky/Herbert/Carruthers) and the 2-0 Che game, I wasn't too impressed, their no.5 if I recall?

He may be "Chezzy's" best player this season, but what accolade is that? A mid-table, possibly lower at the end of the season L1 club. Inspiring?

Patronised?
That's an honour some folks pay for, now that's patronising.

I haven't seen it quoted anywhere Bb, I'm going off what some Chezzie fans have told me what they're after. That's all I have to go on but they seem to know there stuff.

For the record I am all for us signing Morsy, but he's only their best player now because all the other ones jumped ship in the summer in my opinion

When coming to the Lane the past few years I always thought it was Jimmy Ryan who stood out most and couldn't believe he signed for Fleetwood in the summer, then there was Roberts and Clucas too who impressed me more than Morsy

Undergoing a medical at Wigan ahead of a £200k transfer :-(

Great news. A promotion rival (promotion, lol) strengthens whilst we miss out on a player better than anything we've got. And we were certainly after him. People can believe that or not but he was a player Adkins identified despite what may come out of the club in the aftermath of us missing out on him

Do feel for Adkins at the moment because he will be the fall guy for the utter chaos going on above him

We are pathetic. We will never get out of this division.

Like I said earlier in the thread, I'm not willing to go into details on a message board about what happened with this deal but as certain posters on here will confirm I did say this exact thing would pan out in the way it seems to have.

Really don't know what the answer is to be honest. Unless Adkins can pull of a miracle things are going to get much worse before they get better with what is happening above him. This isnt about money being spent , its about the quite frankly ridiculous descion making going on

Made even worse by the fact the manager wants a player at, quite frankly, a snip of a price and the board can't make it happen. Genuinely pathetic.

Do you know if we had a bid accepted or not? Do you know how much Wigan are paying him compared to what we would be able to pay him?

Sadly I don't doubt this for a minute. We're a fucking shambles at times (OK, most of the time).

As far as I'm aware Adkins wanted him but the board didn't or couldn't make it happen... That's all I can say I know nothing else mate.

By all accounts Wigan are paying at max 250k, but don't know about the wages etc. could be big.

Just need him to boss the game against us now to put the final nail in our cheap, tacky little coffin, as Hammond plods around giving the ball away.

I don't think the board even want us to be promoted. If they do it's certainly nothing resembling an urgent priority. The very, very, very least they're guilty of is being unable to distinguish any differences in players and transfer deals - basically not recognising a good opportunity when it smacks them in the face. Not a football brain between them. Fuck me, if they even had decent business brains they'd do all they could to get Morsy for that sort of money.

We'd rather fuck about with short termism like signing Hammond until the end of the year instead of signing one of the divisions better players and building a team.

I sincerely hope I'm made to eat a massive slice of humble pie but this transfer window looks like being exactly like we all expected it to. Shit. Two or three good signings and we could've made a decent fist of the run in.

Two or three proper signings and we could have got up this season - it's unbelievable isn't it? As shit as we are, we could have still got promoted.

But let's not.

Roy , that is the problem . The ridiculous decision making going on , is no decisions are being made . You can have as many Directors as you want or individuals dealing with players contracts , signings etc . If the man at the top is not giving approval , signing cheques , dealing with the funders for finance etc , everything comes to a standstill. Whether this situation is intentional or incompetence or both , who knows . Adkins , club , fans all suffer when a couple more quality players can make the difference between success and failure this season ( play offs and winning them )

A few on the forum are on about Adkins and he should go . The bloke could get pissed off and the only way for damage limitation to his reputation and standing in the game is to resign . We do seem to be in a mess and disjointed both on and off the field . Answer - I haven't got one, and don't think the club has.

If we'd signed Morsy and either Gilbey from Colchester or Saville from Wolves (was at Millwall) we would have had a very strong, mobile, fit, young and exciting central midfield, well suited to Adkins' 4-4-2 formation, and with great ability to improve. I agree we seem to be looking for experienced players from higher divisions too often.

Not only Sam Morsy, but Ryan Colclough too.

Mighty Wigan showing the Blades how it should be done.

What is this "utter chaos" going on above his head? Genuine question btw Roy. I've read the rumours thread about the Prince & McCabe but that's all.

I really don't want to say anything online because its unfair on the person who told me. I've already got him into trouble before for mouthing off on bladesmad. I know this makes me sound like once of these cryptic "in the know" wankers but there we go. All I can really say is that there are things going on at United that I personally find to be unprofessional , certainly for a club of our size. Most of what I've been told isn't all that shocking and most of it has been alluded to on other threads.

I'm open to a PM if you're willing to say over that, no worries if not.

Something at this club isn't right and it hasn't been for a while now. Sad thing is, I get the feeling nothing will change either other than carry on with the manager merry go round.

Perhaps there are other clubs who also want to sign the player at a snip of a price?

If there are 5 clubs in for him, are the 4 that fail all "truly pathetic"?
