Not when the window closed. When this window closes we have another option hopefully. If we play him he can't move.
So, it's fine to drop points because we don't want to harm his development by playing for a team in Scotland?

We could have used him for several games in January while we had no RB alternative. Could have protected Gilchrist. Could have not rushed Seriki back, which seems to have screwed him. Could have no pushed Peck to play RB or Brewster sodding CM.

But this is all irrelevant because we might sign a RB?

Clearly the management, coaching and recruitment team don't believe he's currently the answer. You seem to be the only person who believes he should be getting first team minutes. Sometimes it's ok not to have the last word.

What's the point in playing him for a few minutes, when we have a RB coming in, to not develop him for 6 months? Crazy

I'm all for kids playing, see Blacker last night, but not to spite their development entirely when they're offered the chance to play SPL football for 6 months. Would've been a mental decision

But, hey, a 16 year old got game minutes, so he's the answer?

He's not good enough for league one. I think you are overthinking it here.

He got minutes because it was a) a dead rubber, b) those game minutes don't stop him from making a loan move to develop for the next 6 months, c) he's not ready for a loan move anyway.

It's a strange hill to die on, this.

Played full 90 in the 1-0 win over Celtic today. Despite their impending relegation, St Johnstone seem to have improved for him being there and he has a Scottish Cup semi-final around the corner.

All in all, much better experience than the Peterborough loan.
I just watched that game and didn't even know he was playing till you told me 🤣

Recently attended Hearts (2) v St Johnstone (1)
Curtis played, well more accurately was on the field (for 45 minutes afore being ‘hooked’ @ h/t)
Hardly contributed, playing on right hand side (wing back?) in front of 3 centre halves.
He wasn’t alone in being poor (in a relegated team agin a not much better ‘Jambos’) but appeared disinterested & / or unclear about his role / responsibilities:- didn’t get forward nor back to defend & made little effort to track back as a cross from his side culminated in the opening goal.
On this performance he is a million miles away from contributing for us (even in the Championship)
As an aside Jason Holt (remember him?!?) did an hour (as ‘skipper) - similar ‘story’ to Curtis re contribution / participation although that was very much his ‘M.O.’ for us (& indeed Hearts afore that) albeit he did net 5 in 16 (without doing much else)

As I've said before (probably in this thread) - Curtis is 19. Seriki is 22 and finally looking capable after some rancid loan spells. Plenty of time for Curtis to develop in that position

Aye
Absolutely
Not a dig @ the lad in any way, shape or form especially given the insane & wholly unrealistic views of some on here when he 1st signed ( somewhat akin to views on (selecting) Oné.
Not that I’m placing great store but the Perth press opined:-

“Sam Curtis – 5

The curse of the St Johnstone full-back strikes again.
After performing steadily during Saints’ run of 10 games with six clean-sheets, the on-loan Sheffield United youngster had a good excuse for struggling in the Scottish Cup semi-final against the likes of Jota and Daizen Maeda.
But he had less of an excuse for struggling against Tony Watt.
It was no surprise that Curtis was taken out of the team for the home defeat to Kilmarnock.
He was better in the win over Ross County after a quick recall but hooked at half-time against Hearts.
Curtis is only 19 so has time on his side but it would be a shock if he becomes a Bramall Lane first-teamer.”

13 of their squad (of 35) got poorer marks & 5 equalled his score of 5 - so, as I said “not alone in being poor” for Saints
