we're in a piss poor league playing piss poor teams and THE KING HAS GOT NO CLOTHES ON, he's a piss poor manager.

"Piss poor managers" do NOT get a 3rd division team to an FA Cup Semi-Final and jump from 23rd to 7th in less than 3 months. The potential is there, but Clough is too stubborn and I worry for his position if the same happens over the best few weeks. "Piss poor" is an overreaction. Clough just seems to have changed overnight with his tactics, no idea why but it needs to change.

It would be interesting to see what fans reactions to Nigel would be if his surname wasn't "Clough".
Exactly, that's what I mean bu THE KING HAS GOT NO CLOTHES ON. Because of his surname he gets away with a lot more. And yes clappers we've only lost so many in the last whatever yyyyaaaawwwwnnnnnnnnn.
Didn't know it was possible to fall asleep at 3.5 degrees

Agree, the higher up the football tree we climb the more appropriate Clough will become but he just can't seem to grasp how to climb onto the trunk at the moment.

completely disagree. The higher up we get the more cautious he becomes. We had nothing to lose last season. He tried to play it tight when he first came and saw we couldn't do it so just went for it. Now he's too scared of losing.

Nothing supports and backs up your opinion more than labelling anyone who might have even a slightly different opinion a "clapper".

Still think people are missing the elephant in the room here. Clough proved his worth last year when Brayford was brought in, Coady suddenly started playing the football we knew he could and the team looked purposeful.

Fast forward a few months, we have a team stuffed full of valueless additions (many of whom don't much play these days) and Clough is left with bits of Weirs team and loanees. Hardly a rock solid building block with which to construct a credible assault on the Div One title. Baxter, Doyle, Murphy, Flynn, are all pre-Clough players and senior ones at that. They are the ones you'd depend upon to get the game moving and create chances from midfield, and we have nothing up front to put anything away if they do their job. Around them and sitting in the reserves are a number of people you can't really say have torn trees up even in the lower leagues, yet recently we are meant to get excited at some dudes coming in from Alfreton or wherever, whilst £2.5m still sits in the fucking bank, courtesy of selling our strongest defender to Hull City.

If you are blaming Clough for this then you might as well blame the Captain of the Titanic for lack of its seaworthiness. Clough can only do what he can with players who are simply not even good enough for this leave, let alone one level above. Just think how we'd do next season if we got promoted with this lot.

Mind you, that doesn't matter does it because if we were to get promoted, then cash would be made available (like it will for the JTW of course) Lets not speak of what promotion bonus we'd get and how that would be utilised.

Get the fucking board out. They don't give a fuck about Sheffield United, its fans, of Nigel Clough. While we are on the subject of those bastards, how is our overseas representative getting on I ask? You know, the one who was arbitrarily given a job last month to bring talent in from over there? Air Miles doing okay, son?

Its a fucking joke. And they are laughing at us. 17000 tonight. Ker-fucking-ching.

Clough brought in most of these players - he signed a centre half and managed to get a monk on with him before the season started! Still, as i've said before, nowt will happen until McCabe fucks off, and unfortunately I can't see that happening for a while.

Get the board out, and what?

Whilst I find the claims of investment laughable, I doubt anybody else is waiting in the wings.

The cries of lack pf investment have gone on for years and we've lost millions. Unless someone suspects fraud, we've gogt what we've got.

And Clough is partly responsible for where we;re at, for better and for worse.

Foxy I hugely respect your loyalty, and I enjoy your balanced views. But don't you ever get annoyed by anything ?

The tactics, the formations, the stubbornness, the ludicruous substitutions, and the sheer lack of doing what needs to be done?

Help me to understand why as the biggest, best supported team in the division, we shouldn't have the right to expect rather more than we're getting?

I'm not having a go - just trying to understand how I can be more patient, without fuming at the looming prospect of yet another season in the third division.

Actually, the Titanic was seaworthy. It was indeed the captain who was at fault - sailed it into an iceberg trying to break a speed record in the fog. And I have to say that Clough has to assume responsibility here. He is the manager. Indeed as many suggest on here he is "his own man". He's in charge. And he isn't cutting it at the moment. I don't want to see a change of manager this season, but he has no excuses.

It's generally accepted that the new Board is just like the old one - a complete and utter joke with zero ambition.

But Clough is equally to blame this season. His tactics and selections are ludicrous. He is shit scared of losing and tries to keep it tight and nick a goal. It worked in a sense last season because we kept loads of clean sheets. But it will never work in the long term. It's crap to watch and for a Blades team to play in such a negative way in League 1 is unacceptable.

Foxy I hugely respect your loyalty, and I enjoy your balanced views. But don't you ever get annoyed by anything ?

I watch Sheffield United home and away, I spend the majority of my time annoyed :)

The point I'm making is that if your opinion is backed up by putting people into mythical groups and mocking them, then you have a flimsy opinion or do nothing to back it up.

Does anyone genuinely think there are people "clapping" at our failure to capitalise and stop dropping points? Or is it just a good way to get into an argument and crow about being right?

Help me to understand why as the biggest, best supported team in the division, we shouldn't have the right to expect rather more than we're getting?

Not sure anyone said that?

It wasn't seaworthy. When you hit an object with a riveted hull and four sections flood uncontrollably, the design should allow for a reserve of buoyancy and lateral stability to prevent cascade flooding from fore to aft throughout (supposedly watertight) sections.

The collision was his fault. The sinking lay at the hands of the marine architects.

Clapper is as you know a generic term for those who let red and white glasses impare their view of what is actually happening (or not) right in front of them. It's not meant literally as we all know but it beggars belief anyone can see much in the positive column at he moment and I appologise for using the term clapper in the first instance.

No. But there are certain people on here who parachute in when we win to fire hot streams of piss into the eyes of critics. These are the same critics (like me) who are happy to proclaim our win is good and the performance befitted the result and congratulate the team.

These 'clappers' are mysteriously absent when we lose to offer explanation for the result. THAT is what pissed most 'knockers' off.

pommpey

I'm glad you get annoyed too - I thought you had the patience of a saint.

The labelling thing happens as a reaction from the more negative-feeling posters to the seeming blind faith shown by some of the more relentlessly positive posters. Everyone can see those that are in each camp; it doesnt bother me that much - though instinctively I'm a slasher, and I'm tired of hearing about jam tomorrow.

looks like the play-offs again to me.

My point isn't on either mythical side, but about the creation of the sides to point score and alienate.

It's nonsensical and pathetic.

None of us see everything rosy or everything wrong... It merely stifles genuine opinion, discussion and degenerates into a points scoring or shit flinging contest.

Tell you what - that sounds like a clapper from what I see at the moment.
Oldham were a decent team and can score goals - that means they are more equipped to pick up wins than we are from this point forwards
County are stubborn and harder to beat than we are - they will not lose as many games as us to sucker punches like tonight and Dingle Day
We are no where near good enough to overhaul Brizzle, Preston, Swindon, or MKD because we just cannot score goals

Even the prospect of getting into the play offs seem to be a very real challenge for us.
Now - if we have failed to beat any of the teams around us in the top 7 as it stands and we continue to be so goal shy then the logic follows that we will see any play off campaign fizzle out like the last one, where we let Yeovil tickle our gnads and fuck off to Wembley, instead

I love the idea that I'm a clapper <shakes head>

I don't get to see much living out here, the Barnsley game live plus internet highlights, but I can safely say, based on that limited sample, that I think the team's bloody rubbish, and the tactics are worse. But I still think we'll make the play-offs, just.
