Something in this or not do we reckon?

He is with the squad today though.

If the interest in Pepple is legit it would suggest One is moving on in some capacity as I can’t see us carrying two target men type strikers in the squad alongside Bamford, Cannon and Campbell

If and its a big if Campbell can rediscover his form from 2 seasons ago and show some consistency it would be like a new signing.

Id like to see Wilder try Bamford and Campbell up front with Gus in behind in the Duffy role. At least thst should create some changes.

Me too, but Wilder’s already told us it’s not his job to coach and develop players. He’ll be sold so we can bring in another journeyman clogger.

With parachute payments gone now and a relatively aging/weak squad we’re no longer a top team in the league, unfortunately.

If we want to progress, we need to stop pretending we are in any kind of position to make a sustained push for promotion (when in reality we’d be relying on luck, a one-off season, or a group that clicks in the Championship but capitulates in the Prem), and instead use this period as an opportunity to reset.

It’s a chance to modernise the club, back room and tactics as well as blood young talent like One and Seriki... I hope we don’t sell either of those two after already selling Brooks, especially to just replace them with loans or aging players..

First time seen this. No wonder we’re in a mess.
I don't know how good Allen is at his job. However, I do recall how much they were offering for analyst roles when they were recruiting (it's a field I work in so know the industry rates) and it was well below those. It wouldn't be a surprise to hear we aren't exactly getting the best of the best...they were basically graduate role rates for what were pretty senior positions.

This is exactly what I mean when I keep banging on about infrastructure, when the topic of a DoF pops up (every other day). Until and unless any SUFC board is serious about investment for the types of roles and facilities that underpin an operating model required for such a venture. Just appointing a figurehead “cos other clubs do it” merely shifts responsibility from one role to another but confers no accountability, since that still stays with the manager/coach. Such a change, in the current set up, is no change at all.

We’re a provincial, northern, traditional, semi (semi) successful club. A club that represents the demographic of its roots. We’ve never had owners wealthy enough who can plough a huge amount of money into the non footballing elements required to run a top end, modern football business. There’s probably a very limited chance of a return on investment for doing so, in our case, anyway.

These current owners are no different. They’ve admitted they don’t have the commitment to fund the build of a cat 1 academy without gaining premier league football. If that’s the case then you’d have to question what they would do to fund the playing side if we were to gain promotion in the near future.
