As mike Allen is head of recruitment maybe Jamie is just scouting players picked for him to look at .Thats not my job pal, Hoyland should be doing his job, surely hes got all that info on the back of his fag packets![]()
Campbell's not a no.9 and nor is Cannon.I'd happily move Campbell on

Me too, but Wilder’s already told us it’s not his job to coach and develop players. He’ll be sold so we can bring in another journeyman clogger.I'd really like us to keep hold off and blood Oné this season![]()

Is there supposed to be someone sitting at Allen's left hand side? All I can see is a microphone suspended in mid-air.
I don't know how good Allen is at his job. However, I do recall how much they were offering for analyst roles when they were recruiting (it's a field I work in so know the industry rates) and it was well below those. It wouldn't be a surprise to hear we aren't exactly getting the best of the best...they were basically graduate role rates for what were pretty senior positions.
This is exactly what I mean when I keep banging on about infrastructure, when the topic of a DoF pops up (every other day). Until and unless any SUFC board is serious about investment for the types of roles and facilities that underpin an operating model required for such a venture. Just appointing a figurehead “cos other clubs do it” merely shifts responsibility from one role to another but confers no accountability, since that still stays with the manager/coach. Such a change, in the current set up, is no change at all.I don't know how good Allen is at his job. Its crazy to read this, especially when 10s of millions of pounds rest on what these guys may recommend.I don't know how good Allen is at his job. People are desperate to work in football and clubs are really leaning into that. There was a very senior data/recruitment role advertised at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago that barely paid more than I'm currently earning when it really should've been a 6-figure salary. It's a strange situation to be penny-pinching on these roles then happily sign a footballer on £150k p/w based on some half-hearted due diligence. Its crazy to read this, especially when 10s of millions of pounds rest on what these guys may recommend.
Whilst its not an exact science, an extra 50/100k to attract top talent could have huge ROIs if they can deliver.
Absolutely. I work in finance and they do this with all the accounting roles - I see a lot at Man City and Man United and they pay very low because they know people will be desperate to work for them.People are desperate to work in football and clubs are really leaning into that. These current owners are no different. They’ve admitted they don’t have the commitment to fund the build of a cat 1 academy without gaining premier league football. If that’s the case then you’d have to question what they would do to fund the playing side if we were to gain promotion in the near future.
