Player Suggestion Ryan Manning

With all due respect the transfer window doesn't even open till tomorrow so always guna be difficult to sign anyone.

We'll be slow because we'll have to negotiate every minor detail of the transfer to save that extra quid here or there.
I remember the meltdown close to his time last year when the bedwetters were getting upset that Cardiff had already signed a load (of dross).

IMHO I think we'll see very few signings for quite a few weeks. Some, including loans, may not even arrive until after the start of the season.

In quite a few cases, clubs and players will wait to see whether they receive better offers.

I'm expecting a huge meltdown when pre-season starts with just the current squad.

Hecky said he's preparing for it to go down to the wire on transfer deadline day for his targets so we should be preparing for that as well.

Unfortunately you are bang on there. The biggest worry is the midfield for Palace at home if no additions added. Berge, Norwood, Couilbaly, Fleck? and Osborn?

It's quite a kind set of fixtures too. You don't get many stabs at winnable games.
Exactly, could easily be looking at 4 points or better if we're properly prepared. But without at least 2 first team upgrades it would be a big ask

Well if that happens with 3 of the first 4 games against sides I'd expect to be bottom half we'd better prepare for a sharpish return from where we just came.

I agree but that's how it is. I doubt Hecky wants to wait until the last day. He's always said he likes to get business done early for obvious reasons but unfortunately that's often how the market is.

I can see this turning into another example of people getting cross when Utd don't sign a player they were never interested in but who has done well for someone on Championship Manager.

Josh Laurent is another from last season that springs to mind.

That would involve being organised and having out shit together - not something I'd associate with the Blades right now!
Well if getting promoted to the Premier league is not e ough for you then it's a good job you don't support a team in the 76 places below us

I'll always find something to complain about - can never be happy me!

In all seriousness - do we reckon Manning is attainable? Or are there going to be clubs with bigger pockets after him?

Favourites will probably be Southampton with his old manager going there
But if we are even in for him I'd imagine us and Luton and maybe Burnley would be in too

modern footballers go to the clubs that offer em the highest salaries and thats why were likely to miss out on a lot of our targets were a premier league club now and need to offer higher salaries

What salaries are we offering ?

I don't know - I think the lure of playing in the prem and advancing your career appeals to a lot of players. Could imagine if the choice is between us and a season in the prem to maybe attract attention (or, better yet, remain in the prem with us) is a better option than a scrap in the champ playing for a team like Southampton or Leeds where there's no guarantee you'll get prem football

I really want this one wrapping up asap

Agreed. But I think we can be 99.9% certain we've spoken to his agent by now. If not Manning himself. 100% we'd like to sign him (not ITK, just couldn't be more logical).

But who knows what wages he wants, who else is in, or how long he's prepared to wait this summer before agreeing to a deal.

Sounds like I dont need to build him up to you but he's only a free agent because he backs his ability to play at a higher level, I think he was even the fans POTY last year as well and thats a Wilder type of target.
There's more exciting players and positions being banned about but our back 3/5 is so close to be a very very good one that this is almost a make or break position to fill for me.

Manning is decent going forward but suspect defensively.
On a free though, and given our budget constraints, I think it's a no brainer to explore the option.

I've also always liked Ryan Giles.
Similar, in that he prefers attack to defence.
RND, if he comes back strongly, would be our defensively solid LWB option (would be like having Baldock / Bogle on the other side).

Absolutely any rumours or ITK chat of any description? This thread just seems to be us all agreeing we SHOULD be in for him.

Saed Kolasinak would be the one. Highly rated at Arsenal now playing in Marseille. Possible may be not, however he's the type we require not poor defensive wing backs in the Premier League. You might as well stick with Max Lowe. Yes I'm joking but you get my point.

You think it’s only modern players who looked for better salaries?
