Which one is he?

And who are Ron and Martin that people keep talking about?

Reading one of their forums, they have mixed feels about selling him. Take the money now, or nothing later and he walks. Millwall also interested in signing him.

I think their chairman must be the only person who thinks they can mount a play off push, because their erratic form all season says otherwise. Maybe they want to sell to Millwall, but not sure why.

Lost to a team they usually beat to-day. 4 points off relegation and Ron Rug still thinks they are play off contenders. Leonards value starting to fall, Brown under pressure, team too close to relegation for comfort and need recruitment. Only a fool would continue to resist selling him.

Felt for a long time that he's Millwall bound - he has a lot of connections with the club and SE London in general.

Why are we talking about an apparently disinterested player in a team hurtling towards league 2, nice as a visit to Southend always is.
We either have an insight no other club has or all other clubs see nothing in this.
Lets hear the warning bells and run away as fast as we can, there are far too many better fish in the sea and these guys played their last card long ago. Forget and move on, we have too many squad players already, we need those that can make the first 11 instead.

£700k and they’re still fucking abaht....move on Chris.

All this thread seems to be about, is some fella called Ryan Leonard?

If it's true that we have had a bid of £700k rejected this window for the lad then I think it' time we moved our attention to others.

Leonard cannot be the only one who would improve us. I would then try and broker an agreement with the lad which sees him sign for us on 1st July for free as he is out of contract then (if we still want him).

If they are not budging which is their right of course, then time to move on to plan b.

I don't think we should move on. Obviously there's something about the player Wilder really wants us to benefit from. Its not the lads fault if (GLTTL) his chairman is being a dick.
How many wish our chairman would take an similar stance?

Well ...... I completely agree mate BUT ....... we've been told time and time again in the past ...... when a team from a higher Division come in for a player you have no choice but to sell !!:rolleyes::eek:

Our club's policy is to get our best players to sign new contracts. This may be one reason why no one has been sold to a team from a higher division since Calvert-Lewin, who could not get in our team.
Southend seem to be prepared to let their best player go for nowt in the summer.
You seem to be arguing in favour of the latter approach.

Yeh but big Sam has made it clear DCL is no where near good enough with a striker his priority due to lack of fire power in the squad. Shows how low English footy has sunk when they have considered DCL and McGuire is seen as one of the best ch in the country.

Brown: "There’s a renewed bid on the table for Lenny but it’s been turned down. The conversations are open and probably will be for all of January. But I’ll be doing all I can to keep him because he’s a massive asset for us and he’s shown that again today."

That was Brown's latest quote for Leonard, which has probably being posted on here, but if not here it is. I think it was said last week, so it seems from the above that we are still interested and are set to continue talks, unless we're not the clue who is in talks with Southend. Southend have a rivalry with Millwall, so surely they would rather sell to us! I don't see us getting Clayton now Leeds want him and what with him being an ex Leeds player.

But Clayton has already moved once from Leeds to Huddersfield - would you do that if you were a big-time Leeds lover?

Maybe not, but he will have an affinity with Leeds, or a point to prove to them? You might be right, but I fear he'll choose Leeds over us. Wolud rather us get Leonard to be honest, because it seems Clayton is likely to compete with Lundstram to start and I'd rather see Lunny stay in, given his recent form. We need someone who can play in the attacking role too, but better than Carrurthers, who will surely be off to Charlton. That's what I think anyway. Clayton has scored goals from midfield at various points in his career but only has 1 in 131 league starts for Boro.

....If the player is insistent on the move. It seems that Leonard isn’t willing to rock the boat to force the move.

Isntv Whiteman doing better at donny than leonard is at Southend?

Why pay 800k when we can just get our player back?

Because they’re two completely different players? If Wilder was confident Whiteman was ready to slot into the team, he wouldn’t have categorically said he was staying the full season, same as Reed. He’s shown re: Brooks that he isn’t afraid of recalling players if he thinks they’re ready – the fact that his view hasn’t shifted despite what looks like from afar to be a decent loan spell suggests that he isn’t what we need right now.
