No, we haven't.
In spite of us being a bigger club
A higher placed club
And a club that would increase his salary

I thought clubs had to let players go when this happened

I also thought that Leonard would behave like a spoilt brat and throw his toys out of the pram by now, but no, he's playing ok and even scored a couple of goals

I think he'll move on in January for a fee that we are willing to pay,

The problem is the fee will be one that many clubs are willing to pay, and obviously his agent will be a cunt because he steered him in the direction of the best wages
From the latter transfer offers which were accepted it seems that we perhaps reached our limit for the likes of Leonard.

If we thought we could get him for under say 500k, but eventually his club wanted more than that, Wilder probably then thought it was a bigger risk and to look for better experience elsewhere.

Perhaps we should've stuck with Leonard in the end... who knows...

In a blatant effort to breathe life into a putrefying cadaver I note Sarfend are interested in Josh Wright - released by Gillingham

Surely indication that Lenny is on his way ?!?!?

Would you pay agents and players whatever they demand, JJNB?

I just want to check on something. Did people really want us to spend close to 1m for a third division player who would not be a starter for our team?

If so, you're a fool.

Edit - oh and had never played higher

Two examples of what goes wrong if you spend too much money on a player who can either not do a job or does not fit in with the wage structure or ability of his team mates:-----
John Brayford and Jordan Rhodes.

Another who springs to mind for the older .Blades is alex sabella, wonderful footballer but wasted in a team where he team mates were not good enough to anticipate what he was going to do.

Wilder is building a team and a squad of players!
We are better now than we were 12 months ago and I am confident that we will be better again in another twelve months. Trust wilder to,spend our money wisely, he knows where he needs to strengthen and if he spends his money on inflated prices for players nit essential to the teams core we will not have any left for essentials.

There is a very real chance that Leonard has missed the boat here at united. Wether that's down to player agent or club. The way Whiteman is ripping it up at donny and if we can get Lundstram up to speed we have decent depth in the middle without having to spend. Wilder will be able to do a like for like comparison

It could work out better in the end as whiteman is a real prospect and if he does not get into the squad after the new year we may miss out as he may want to move on.
Anyone any ideas on his contract?

Rootshallbloke, how are you ? Not a dig at you but how is Lenny feeling ? Has Ron been tearing his hair out so he now needs a carpet ? Is Lenny thinking about possibly being in League two rather than maybe in the Premiership ? Any news ?

Perhaps comparing Southend's struggle, especially against the Chairman's promises of a promotion push, will fix Len's thoughts. As has been said, maybe this particular horse has bolted as far as the Blades are concerned, and Len will remain a lengthy thread that amounted to next to nothing. Perhaps Len ought to get his agent to give our manager a bell, you never know, it might be possible to revive any interest at this end, but like a good book, pages turn and the plot changes. So get your finger out Len, the career of a footballer is short, and you may never get the chance again to play for a club like the Blades.

We've gone beyond what Leonard can offer us.

ok, before the season started when we needed some other options at centre mid in case things went tits up.

Fleck/Coutts/Duffy have settled better than any of us (and Wilder) could have thought.

We should now look for better.

UTB

It's actually Shit Tuesday but here you go

Phil Brown not been sacked yet?

Chairman would have been better of spunking money on his rug :)
Not looking good Rootshallbloke. Maybe Ronny da Rugrat should have sold him?

Just a thought, we never asked you to come poking your noses in and bidding for him, especially as you're no longer the third division side you were last season and the season before that.

And to these comments in general.......this. I'm obviously on the far right.

Bit sensitive old boy. I hope you're not inferring that we supporters look down on you or that you should feel inferior and "know your place". Where's the happy go lucky full of hope and big plans Rooty gone?

Mind you, you must feel a tad crestfallen given you current form. No wonder you're so crabby!

Never mind, if it took us 6 seasons to make such a spectacular leap, you've got plenty of time to fulfill Ron's ambitions AND still do whatever it is you do down there amongst the tourists.

A bit grumpy on the back of the 1-2 defeat at Charlton. A lovely ground, but they only managed 12k including 1500 of us lot, and they're in second place. Then onwards to a wonderful 90 minutes at Shrewsbury last night, losing 0-1 to the top team raised the Roots stakes to very grumpy. After those two games we now have seven 1st teamers on the physio table and the 'Brown out' brigade have started banging on. So, I thought I'd cheer myself up by popping over to the Blades board, they're always sympathetic to alien supporters..........................never mind, we still have Lenny and he's playing well. Notorious slow starters, Southend.
