Got to go now. Wife says I need a shave before we go out to dinner. Just one more post towards the Ryan and Ron memorial century thread. Be back in about three hours. ;)

OK we’ve got to 100 pages, shall we let this go. It’s obvious that Lenny has been talked into giving it one last go at promotion with Southend, even if it means him probably leaving on a free transfer. Their loss, time to move on.

I'm only teasing mate. He's definitely got talent and at times last season I thought he was amazing. But I also think he was poor in equal measure.

I think Wilder made a lot of him not having had a pre-season with us. Which, tbh, I didn't fully buy into because the bloke had a pre season elsewhere and had been playing regularly.

This season..no such excuses. He's either going to be a big star for us or he's going to continue to be an enigma like last season. And right now I think it's the latter. Hope he will prove me wrong.

yeah - no probs.

Think last season when he arrived Duffy felt under pressure and stepped up his game and made himself un-droppable.

Carruthers seems to have a very fast brain to unlock defences in and around the 18 yard box, where as with Duffy, is the step up going to be too much.

It's a difficult one for CW/AK to assess. Think both will get a shot as I am sure they are interchangeable as we saw last season - who starts v Brentford is one of the main quandaries for me. The team v Brentford picks itself for me except for 3 positions. LWB, in the hole and at the side of Billy. Stevens at LWB really looked to try and create in and around the Malaga box when he came on - would be tough on Lafferty though. Clarke probably did enough back end of last season, which leaves Duffy/Carruthers.

And I hope you enjoyed it. Morecambe are the shrimps by the way, we're the Shrimpers. Moving on from your dinner, do you think Wilder will come back in with another bid?
It depends, if Brown has convinced him to stay a year then no.
If he was asked to take back the transfer request because it devalues him then maybe. Either way, Wilder will know what the situation is and I'm assuming Tuesday or Wednesday we will find out.

Is Sammy still knocking about? Didn't notice him when we were at your place. One of my more regular grounds having lived in Westcliff for a couple of years.

You wouldn't understand. Get a bit of wool on your back, stop your monotonous immature comments and you might learn something.

You won't, of course, take that well-meaning advice. So it'll be 'let's go round again'...
What the fuck are you on about?

Monty was a brilliant servant for us, especially in the prem.
Kozzy and Geary made up a very good full back duo.
Adams clearly is a very talented boy.
Blackwell guided us to 3rd place and a play off final.
Reed's time may still come.

I don't think anyone seriously thought Ironside was the answer but when the other options were Porter and Taylor it was understandable.
Long broke the record for clean sheets in a row - and that wasn't wholly down to Harry Maguire. If it was up to you Maguire probably would have never got a chance, since you're very weird about giving young players a run.

If Leonard doesn't sign a new contract, I think we'll be back in for him in January or next summer regardless of whether we sign an alternative this summer. So this thread could easily double in size. Yay.

We got 30 games out of Ferdinand last season, the most he has played for 3 years which is entirely down to our physio Ben Clarkson. Ben is very good at what he does, but not at what he eats.

But you're right, come the cold wet stuff we will struggle. That's why Lenny has been so valuable to us in the past. He will play every game assuming he doesn't get sent off (does happen). Nevertheless I'm feeling very optimistic at the moment and I refuse to let your truthful logic ruin my day.
Ow much you want for the physio ?

as I like most am overcome with boredom about this thread I've been trying to come up with some ryhmes for a song if he signs. If he doesn't you're welcome to use - best I have yet is f**ktard but haven't got any more lyrics other than his surname and no tune.

Classy start. Keep at it, I'm sure you'll get there eventually.

The previous Sammy and Elvis have 'retired'. The club us currently looking to entice two new idiots to wobble around Roots Hall on match days. Reward is two match day tickets per game each.
