Is it fuck all his. That's a rug.

How many times do you need to be told that Wilder, unlike Bald Ron, knows football. He won't pay more than he thinks the player is worth. That's it. Unlike you, I don't much care whether we sign your best player as one of our squad so I have no axe to grind here. "Lenny" wants to go. You hold no aces.

You can hold out RugRon as some sort of gladiatorial business warrior all you like. It cuts no ice here. He is, however, bald as a fucking coot and no amount of wishing will change that.

Then, a ludicrous fucking yellow:

The guy's bald. It's a rug. An embarrassing rug. Sorry if that spoils his Herculean image, but rug it is.

Looking at that photo, there's clearly a touch of Rod Stewart admiration and a longing to sing 'Agadoo'.

33 pages and nearly 700 posts in, the Ryan Leonard thread takes an interesting turn.

Is the Southend chairman fucking bald?

This bombshell could carry this thread for another 700.

All part of the service, Steve.

I carry this forum sometimes, but do I get any credit?...

If only RugRon had the dignity to be bald and proud of it like, say Sean Connery or Patrick Stewart. But no, the peerless hard-nosed negotiator has to don a conspicuous and risible rug. You can actually see the fucker running away from his scalp. Perhaps it scares his competitors into submission?...

Call me negative but aren't we taking the mickey a bit here. If we think he can make a difference in the championship he has to be worth more than 250k doesn't he ?

If I was at Southend I'd be furious that my main man is being unsettled by transfer talk whilst being offered peanuts for him !

Aye its interesting that when its someone else's player that we want many on here are saying stuff like just accept our bid rather than lose him for nothing next summer, or faulting their chairman for saying he's not for sale.

However, when its our player we all want to right fee for United, understandably, and would love the hard ball stance that their chairman is taking. £250,000 isn't much in my view, based on his age and last two seasons as player of the season. Maybe Wilder has moved on here and just wanted Leonard as a back up and doesn't want to pay more, but who knows.

I'll tell you what, this never happened in the Morsy or Dan Burn threads either. With a plot twist like this, this thread is much classier, and much closer to a final draft, than both of those threads combined. FACT !

You're right mate .....

Trouble is ..... our Board are like a Barnsley slapper. "You're not 'avin my knickers down on a first date ..... well alright then but I want another arf of lager first" !!

They talk a good game then roll over and give us the famous line ...... "when a higher division Club comes in for one of your players ......." o_Oo_O

Why you have to be so abusive about everything is a bit of a mystery to me. Maybe something is so missing in your life and you get your rocks off slagging off folk you know nothing about on a message board............now you see you've got me joining in the 'wind up' dance with you now when I said ages ago in this thread I wouldn't, my bad.

Time will tell which of us is right, not a lot more I can say really.

Look, I'm thinning a bit myself. It's not a crime. That toupée is though...

You appear to be over-sensitive and protective towards RugRon. Me, I'm just imparting some sensitive advice.

I feel much more confident going to the negotiation table with my limited but real thatch than I would with that thing trying to escape from my head. On the other hand, if he walked in, scalp fighting the wig for supremacy, stifling laughter would be my biggest problem...

Agree to a point

But player valuations aren't linear any more and are no longer based on actual ability.

I'll explain, in league 2 most clubs are totally skint. £100K is a lot of money that many clubs couldnt afford to turn down. In league 1 £250K is a lot of money which many clubs can't afford to turn down

The equivalent in the Championship is £2 or £3 million
And the equivikent in the PL is probably £20 million.

Offer Sunderland £15 million for their goalkeeper and they can afford to turn it down.
£15 million for a club like Sunderland isn't that much money, hence why Everton had to bid £30 million to get him.

When we were in league 1 we had no choice but to accept any bids at the £1 million plus level.
Now we are in the Championship we can now afford to laugh at bids of £1 million.

It's fair point that United can probably afford to increase the bid ( and that's what Southend want)
But it's also a fair point that £300K to £400K is a lot of money for Southend.

The BIG decision is do they risk everything on promotion next season but if they fail then Lenny will be gone on a free transfer and Southend will be seriously out of pocket.

I don't think there's any rush/ panic for the buying clubs (us and Millwall) can wait until January18 or even wait until next season when he's on a free.

However based on the continuous statements from the Southend owner it's would seem he's more keen to start an auction and push through the sale.

Don't see how any of this is relevant in arguing the case for or against the alleged baldness of the Southend chairman.

Sorry about that Mr Steve,

Yes back on topic, wigs are so old fashioned
So I reckon it's a weave or an implant.

Have a good look at Elgoog's photo at #668 though! It's up there (and by Pele it certainly is 'up there') with the late great Wogan's (wonder if it went with him?) and Brucie's.

300k is not a lot of money.

We made over 1.5 million last season in player sales. We are fairly secure. We don't get big gates like yourselves but we are well enough supported.

I don't propose to know the ins and outs at Southend but 300k seems to be Wilders default offer for most players at league 1 level that was the offer for jack O'Connell and Leon Clarke both of which compare favourably to Ryan. Millwall seem to think that that is reasonable too. Let's see how it plays out i wish you well for the coming season!

Right.

Wilder has set his price. That's it.
If Southend, or anybody else thinks that's derisory, then fine. Find another club who will pay more. But what I will also say is, the fact this is dragging on somewhat suggests....
1. that there doesn't appear to be anybody else prepared to pay what they want
OR
2. The player has been up here, and decided he wants to come here. Whether that's in August, January or next season he doesn't care.

So Southend are in a difficult place either way. They either begrudgingly take the money now or risk getting nothing on the hope they could go up and perhaps compete with us.
Their chairman needs to sit down and settle the matter once and for all. Going to the press, and coming over all stubborn and determined may win over a few fans of his club, but ultimately might harm his team. He needs to start some friendly negotiations with us and look at seeing what else could be on offer.

Do we have a youth player that's good enough to fill a squad place?
A promotion clause fee?
Sell on percentage that is higher than usual? There are loads of options, but it needs to be proper negotiations. Not going to the press to stir things up.

As for the other issue....the old Barnet.
For what it's worth, that's not a rug. He's receded back mid head and grown his hair longer. If it was, why would he only have it covering half his head?
It does need cutting short though, and come to terms with it. It's like my mate who has an island and refuses to shave it off....looks daft but he won't be told.

It's all getting a bit silly now, taking the piss out of someone for their wig or hairstyle come on blades I thought we were better than that.
After all he's just trying to do the best for his club.

Just a thought maybe that's why McCabe accepts the 1st offer on our players because he's afraid of being ridiculed on forums by other fans.

Anyway I'm of now for my daily dose of Syrup of Figs.
