i have an irrational dislike for Southends chairman. I hope we win this one

Phil Brown can do one. Lad wants to go. Best option is to take the money while you still have time to replace him.

Mug.

I think it's best for all involved that this is sorted sooner rather than later. Regardless of whether he signs for us, Millwall or Southend the sooner we know the better so that we can plan for next season. UTB

Statement from Phil Brown just now. With the appearance of the transfer request it looks as if Ron is now drumming up a bidding battle.......Deja vu or what? Needs Millwall for that to work though. I'm getting tired of all this now.

I feel your pain. Personally I got tired of this about 50 pages ago.

Breaking: Ryan Leonard has rejected Blues' contract offer and has put in a transfer request. More to follow.

Basically Lenny has knocked back a contract offer and has handed In a transfer request. This dissapointed me.

Whether he wants to go is irrelevant. He is contracted and will be expected to see it out.

He was there today but got told to go home as his head wasn't right.

Our chairman has again reiterated that Lenny is not for sale and he will be rejecting his transfer request. He will not be sold unless our evaluation has been met.

I make the chairman right.

Is say the chairman is pretty stupid, if he doesn't sign a new contract and stays his value can only go one way, either he'll be half the price in Jan or free in summer, the most there gonna get is this summer and now he wants to leave Southend and really aren't in the driving seat. Sell him sooner and you have time to get a decent replacement in.

So your gonna hold on to him, reject bids and have an unhappy player in your dressing room and around the squad rather than some money to replace him? Nahhhhhh..... Players have all the power nowadays. It's over.

He's gonna sign for millwall

Personally I'd rather put him with the kids if he is going to sulk. If players who get injured for a season are happy to be paid then they have to accept situations like this.

Heard a rumour today that we are looking for 750k and not a penny less.

Our chairman is a very stubborn man.

The trouble you have...and the trouble we've had in the past...is that his head might not be right until January. Beattie flu, Maguire sunburn and Leonard lurgy are very debilitating, until a new club is found.

Chairman didn't reject the transfer request. He rejected the bid.

Just a matter of time now. You know we have the Walker money, we might give you an extra few quid to cover his train journey up but that's it.

Trouble is do you want a Player that dosen't want to be there.
He's just been sent home because his head isn't right for a friendly.
I have no idea if he's any good or not, can't even remember him when he played at the lane, equally I don't know if its us that's turned his head, but I will lay a pound to a penny that he won't be a Southend player by the start of the season, and I bet your chairman knows this as well.

Come on Shrimperama, I can understand you don’t want to let go, but it’s over now as far as Southend are concerned. Many a time have us Blades been in the same situation as you are now. Afraid it can only go one way. Even if he doesn’t come to Sheffield, he has played his last game for the Shrimpers.

The only reason your chairman is so stubborn is because he knows we got 1.7mill from Leicester for Maguire, and 4.5mill from Man City for Walker, and also around 500k fromn Brighton for Jamie Murphy.

He's using a tactic to try to get us to pay more. It will not happen and he will end up joining for an undisclosed fee anyway because your Chairman won't like to feel defeated by revealing a 550k transfer.

This is the end for Leonard and Southend, whether he comes to us or goes elsewhere.

I hope he doesn't get signed for 750 k. Not worth it. Rather have us, him and his arsole chairman disappointed than getting legged over again.

Well it's taken a whole lot of shite to get to this point.

We have made several bids which have been knocked back over the past month or so.
Their chairman has said all the right things, come across all tough, and insistent regards a fee.
Player has been offered a new deal which is knocked back, but then also hands in a transfer request thus giving up some of the fee.

So in short, and this is me reading between the lines a little, Leonard has seen what would be on offer with us, and it's significantly more than what Southend can offer and also has the lure of the club size and current league status on top. He's made his mind up.
He won't play for them again.

Now if their chairman continues to be stubborn, he might insist he sees out his contract. But as I said ages ago that wouldn't be good for business. He may of course tell him he can leave as long as it's anyone but us, seeing as he might feel we are the reason this has all happened.
Now I suspect, he will hope that another club shows an interest and drives up the price, but that looks unlikely as I really suspect he's decided he wants to come to United and now has his head and heart set on that move.

Now, what might happen is that we may ask them to meet half way seeing as Leonard has handed in a transfer request and I'm sure therefore surrended any percentage of the fee. And it is this point Ronny lad needs to start thinking like a businessman again. He might get 475k, plus a few add ons....perhaps we might have a player they would be interested in who we have deemed surplus?

But I see this being sorted by the end of this month at the latest.

So we need to make it clear that money has already been spent...Stearman? And we have others similar lined up.

You Southend lot must be crazy. Someone on here has been absolutely consistent as to what would happen, including Lenny having a decisive say. The end game nears.

I make the chairman bald (and you desperate).

It will be a compromise fee. Certainly not Southend's 'valuation'. If that were going to happen it would have been done weeks ago and Lenny wouldn't have asked for a transfer.

Don't swallow the Southend shite about Stonewall RugRon. Power is with the player these days, witness Maguire sunstroke.

It's a matter of time now. As so often, one of us got this right all along....

I make you right that he has played his last game for us. Whether you buy him or Millwall is still up for grabs, personally I'd rather he came to you, in spite of Pinchy, than go to Millwall, but whoever gets nearest Ron's price will get him. This has still got a way to go before he signs elsewhere, but not too long.

Seems to me that a lot earlier in this thread you were adamant that £300k was all he was worth and Wilder wouldn't go higher, and we should get over it and let Lenny come to you. I know that you were born without a humility gene, amongst other things, but being an obnoxious git for the sake of it does you absolutely no favours. I expect you to ignore any or all of this, but I feel much better now.
