We'll be back in January. CW sows seeds with players and the bid now will probably be rejected. CW doesn't seem to mind too much. He should be in prime position later on - even next July as Lenny will probably not sign any contract extension now.

No bad feelings - hope he does well for you, but it won't put his price up now - it will be a free if his agent has anything to do with it.

The £500k figure is pure rumour, but the local newspaper reporter has confirmed that you have bid and it has been rejected. What goes round etc.............you may well get him in July, or we may go up via the autos, who can say. If we do he may want to play in the Championship with us. As for January 18, if we are doing v well then you might as well not bother as Ron's answer will still be no. The only fly in the ointment for these scenarios is if HMRC come calling and mean it. That shouldn't happen but we do have previous. Until then he's all ours and I'm happy as a result.

Just heard that Nile Ranger is getting out of the nick on the 24th July, so if you don't get Lenny now then the news this week keeps getting better. Woo Hoo!

That didn't come out quite the way I meant it. A fit Ranger will be a big boost to the squad. His antics outside of football have earned him prison time which was well deserved. It might just be that he has finally finished with his past troubles and will apply himself as a footballer with Southend...................that's the theory anyway.

Well to me that seems likely to be our maximum bid. I didn't even expect us to go that high.

He wants to play for us, not you, as any footballer with a brain would. This is only going to end one way. The only question is when.

The year is 2017, this is post no.1659 and still the mystery goes on, will we sign this rank average L1 player that cannot lace the boots of Paul Coutts & Super John Fleck or will we find something better to do like trim the hedges and cut the grass.

Never mind mate, you keep getting your predictions wrong so you might as well continue your run with this latest one. I would think the earliest you will see him at Bramall Lane is next season when he turns out for Southend in the Championship fixture against you. That way you could form an opinion on him as a player and wave to Ron in your Directors box, result eh?
 

So without going through almost 100 pages- out of 10 how probable is it that he will sign?
 
Dont think Lenny has signed his latest contract offer from Southend yet, that could well decide it one way or the other.

Hey Mr Rooter! Is that similar to a 40% chance then? I think it may well just be higher than that, more like, 90% chance. What gives you the confidence that a player who hasn't signed a new contract and has only one season left on his present one won't be tempted to take a step up to Championship football with us (or someone else?). I know Ronzer doesn't want to sell him - but if the lad wants to go and we pitch in with a good offer then I'd say that would change things considerably.

If it's going to happen then I think next week will be the week when it happens. We'll be back from our La Liga beating bash in Malaga and Ronzer's phone is going to be engaged a lot over the next few days I suspect.

'Mr Rooter' makes me feels that I should be delivering broadband rather than posting. The contract signed or not is irrelevant to my view. At the moment Sheffield have not made an offer worthy of Ron saying yes, and I now think it will take a bid of between £700k/£750k to get him. Will you pay that much? The only other possibility is that Lenny puts a transfer request in, which he may do. So for now I'm confident that he stays with us.
