This exactly.

Purely down to the money, new manager might not rate him, be sat in the stands while picking up double what we could offer.

Not bothered by this at all. I live in Norwich and the majority of the locals are not fans of his. He's struggled to hold down a spot in their team and they have been desperate for a solid centre back for years.

Think we can (and will) do better.

If he ends up at Wolves I definitely see them letting EEL come our way

Cheers, nice to read!

Totally relaxed about transfers this summer, last year I was worried about losing out on Tafazolli, Ricky Holmes, Revell, & Novak!!

Didn`t work out too bad did it, Wilder has the ability to pick players, and mould them into his way of playing, squeezing every last drop of ability out of them.

A rare gift for a manager that.

Don't think Wolves have let a manager sign a single player since the new chairman came in, all done by agent Jorge Mendes isn't it?

Surprised and disappointed. Irrespective of whether he is decent or not but if it sounds like its must be because they've offered more money. It can't be anything else because we have more advantages than they have, other than more financial clout. They don't have a manager and nor will any Wolves signing actually be signed by the manager because that's their policy. Wonder of this means Ebanks-Landell is likely to move to us?

Just come through that Nuno Santo (???) has been appointed over there, but still, he most certainly isn't pulling the strings over this potential move.

A long shot here but I wouldn't be against us signing Tom Aldred from Blackpool He's a decent player, solid and a leader. Out of contract at Blackpool, now 26 he would be available on a free, although they have offered new terms.

I thought he'd have been OK but him going to Wolves may well mean we end up with EEL, better deal IMO

Without knowing the details of what was offered by Wolves or United I feel it would be harsh to prejudge. I guess there may be a number of factors that are involved when a player moves clubs.

Camaraderie and team spirit were an important part of our success last season and to maintain that we need players who are happy to come to us and with the right attitude because they feel their immediate futures lies with us. I trust CW and AK to carry on doing what they do best.

Wonder who's decided he's the man for them then without a manager?

Would've expected any new manager to make own decisions when he arrives. Seems a bit odd that some back room staff member is pulling the transfer strings

Wolves have just confirmed the appointment of a new manager.

I'm really not sure about the idea of EEL starting in the Championship. Up against a bit of pace he looks distinctly average, and pace is what we're bound to come up against.

He may not start right away anyway, if we do go in for EEL I expect him to be more of a long term prospect, him and O'Connell 24 and 23 respectively and both with huge potential

Would be great if we could turn them into a solid pairing for years to come, especially with all the defensive struggles we'd had before this season

Seems Norwich fans aren't disappointed to see him leave but that doesn't mean he wouldn't have been a decent addition. Not the end of the world to be fair. I'm not sure on EEL but he is young and still time to improve too. Suppose a deal for EEL ultimately depends on how big the fee and wages will be. To me it makes EEL signing a new contract for Wolves seem very naive as now it makes it harder for EEL to move and I can't see him playing for Wolves.

When we signed him I posted something along the lines that a Wolves fan at work told me that he'd be ok in league 1 but not good enough for the championship, and that he struggles against players with pace and is easily pilled out of position by them. While I thank him for his influence last season, I think we've seen enough of him to make my mate's comments look fairly accurate so, like you, I'd prefer us to let this one go.

Doesn't nssecerly mean he chose money over football. Let's not forget we are still a newly promoted championship team while wolves are a solid championship side

If it is purely down to money then could be a good thing. Norwich were paying big wages as well, although that doesn't always mean better players. Might mean even more of a chance of EEL signing permanently?
And why would we want EEL back when he is barely good enough for L1 let alone the Championship?

We are going to struggle bigtime without solid defensive additions.

Play offs have just finished so its still early mate. We all know you're totally right, we need 2 centre backs but I'm relaxed about it. I'm more favourable for us signing EEL but at the same time he will be one of a few that we are looking at, as Wilder has said. Who knows how high up the list EEL is. Players like Targets McCarthy from Southampton, Burgess from Pompey and the lad Cian Bolger from Fleetwood would all be decent option s if we decide to go for up and coming, which Wilder frequently does. Bennett was probably the top of the list, with his experienced Championship experience.

Shame he's off to wolves - thought he might do a decent job for us and on a free would have made sense as a signing.

Wolves are a decent sized club and established in the division so you can see why he might have signed for them.

But weighting up the fact they had no manager, and are run by an agent with no consideration to building a style or squad harmony. Think we would be a better bet than wolves if I'm honest.

Still each to their own. Plenty of fish in the sea

I would take EEL back as a squad player but not at the expense of backing away from signing Bennett.

I would sooner take my chances with a guy that has played at the highest level and is a steady Championship defender. Bennett is a far greater priority.

Sadly not anymore he's not since he's chosen them. We did try. Bennett does fit into the type of signing that hasn't always come off of late. I.E a Championship player in the mid to late 20's, released or not wanted by another club where their fans say he is crap etc. He might have been amazing for us, but on paper I'd prefer to sign someone else's player of the season, even if that's from League One.

Wow!

Wolves new manager has moved early for this one. The ink is still wet on signing his own contract and he's already had time to assess his squad, work out where he needs to strengthen, find out what budget he has to work with, scout the English leagues to see who's available for the right price, sit down with the player and his agent to see if he's interested in coming, then negotiate a salary.

And he's done all of this within his first 37 minutes of taking charge, what a guy!

My Norwich mate's view on Ryan Bennett

He was highly rated when we signed him from Peterborough in about 2012 but he didn’t progress as hoped and has been in and out of the team. Prone to errors and lapses of concentration.
