If we let him out on loan he could get injured or bomb risking losing the market value he appears to have currently

Good point. If he doesn't do well in league 1 or 2 he definitely wouldn't get a championship loan next season IF we go up.

He’s one of the few who surely should’ve gone out on loan! He’s not going to get any game time unless we have countless injuries.

Only if the loan is right. League one wouldn’t do him any good, but championship might

If he doesn't do well in league 1 or 2 we wouldn't want him to. We don't benefit from sending him to the Championship, if he's too good for league 1 we can recall him in the summer and send him to the Champ like Villa have done with Barry.

Needs first team experience in the lower leagues to toughen him up

I'm OK with this. A loan isn't the right move for everyone - really depends on the player. He can build up minutes in the under 21s.

As a big unit who is quick and looks alright in the air, maybe we've pencilled him in for CB. (That's a joke by the way. Have to make that clear for everyone who thought McBurnie could have done a job for us at the back).

I’m also ok with this.

He has had more exposure so far than he could have dreamed about.

He hasn’t looked completely ready but made a telling contribution at Bristol City and he’s a good insurance to have.

You hope we don’t need him but if we get a spate of injuries we’d look foolish having nowhere to turn.

And more importantly if he doesn't do well in league one the Osula like transfer fee that may currently be in the offing will disappear.

My guess is we are protecting his transfer value by keeping him here in case we don't go up. If we go up we then don't need the fee and can loan him out. If we don't go up we will sell him in the summer for a substantial fee to help fund signings for a promotion push next season.

With Cannon, BBD, Campbell and Moore soon to return, Oné's pathway is blocked for these last few months.

Feels a missed opportunity not to send him down the road for some EFL minutes.
He's a prospect, but he's raw.

I'm a little surprised that he's still here, as Wilder had earmarked him for a move last week (along with Marsh, who did go out).

He's only 18 and a half. There is no rush. Marsh is a year older and he had his Doncaster loan at around 19

Maybe he's just enjoying training with the first team and wants to fight for a place this season. If he's happy and developing then no need for a loan at the moment.

Just seems a bit of a missed opportunity. Training alongside pros is fine but there is no substitute for minutes in professional football. You can’t really dictate where players go but it would have been great to send him to Donny to play with Sharp.

I get the missed chance to loan him out. However he might be able to change a game he's different to the ones we have. Yes I know not proven. Also worth keeping round we know what our injury record is like

Oné has such a high value ceiling, its probably better to retain direct control of him rather than risk injury in a lower league outside of our control.

On the first two outings I would put one in front of cannon ….

Whatever the decision was based on to not loan him out… the players everyone’s assuming are all automatically infront of him in the pecking order have all missed a lot of football barring Cannon.

With our luck it’s not totally out of the question that we could end up with Moore, Campbell and Brewster unavailable again before the end of the season. He then finds himself right back in the fold.

Might also get minutes when we’re leading games comfortably (if that ever happens)

Great assist for the winning goal.

Not really any need to be so judgy, anyway. Give everyone some time. Players and team need time to settle, gel and thrive.

Very surprised One didn't go on loan, but on reflection (a) he actually got a reasonable number of professional minutes with us already, for an 18yr old. (b) Probably get some more minutes from the bench as well.

Naturally he's got the youth matches and train with first team as and when CW sees fit.

One might be higher up the pecking order next season.

The lads only 18 , we don't know his personal circumstances or how he'd react to being shipped off to a different environment. If he's comfortable with things and the club feel he needs to mature abit as a person it's not a bad decision

He's possibly one of the more influential characters, and certainly one of the better and more experienced players, in the u21 set up.

With our two new wingers likely to need lots of development support in the coming months, it can only help them if there's someone prolific around to bury the chances they create on u21 match days.

Bit surprised he didn't go out, he isn't going to be involved unless a huge injury list occurs again. Someone top end league 2 would have interesting see how he got on. He is a fair way of the championship at the minute, although from the little I have seen of them both he looks in front of Marsh currently. Should we get promotion think he will get a year on loan next season, possibly may do if we don't go up.
