and bolton over easter have local derbies v bury and oldham both in better form

we play millwall and bradford at home how is that harder than going to southend and scunthorpe
Because Bradford are a better side on form than both perhaps?

If people are worried we won't finish top 2, stick a ton on itView attachment 24649

I put a tenner on. Didn't want to be greedy.

Think BTL is too confident. It's too close to call even now. I still have us equal with Fleetwood and Bolton a point behind, but any team can implode like Scunthorpe have just done.

You 2 are going to do a kiss aren't you!!?!!

[QUOTE="blade too long, post: 1265707, member: 4come off it they struggled on saturday and got a lucky last minute decision in their favour
they have by far the hardest run in[/QUOTE]
If you discount scumthorpe & millwall (hard set of fixtures for both) I dont see anyone as having an easy or easier run in. Just got to keep doing what we have done all season 2 points a game on average and fight the pressure, and all will be ok

Of course, teams always win the 'easy' matches, don't they?

Don't they?

They don't?

Oh.

It really puzzles me how some on here don't get why others haven't uncorked the champagne and are publicly claiming we are home and hosed.
The arguement that what is posted on here won't affect whether we get promoted or not isn't the issue.
The issue is most folk remember only too well how we have almost got the patent on snatching defeat from the jaws of defeat year in year out and to trot out the "that was then this is now" and "Wilder is this or Wilder is that" is really irrelevant.
A lot of Blades refuse to assume anything until the maths make us uncatchable. That's what Wilder will be doing so it's no bad way to go is it?
No-one would have believed we could fuck up Prem safety after we hammered Wham 3-0 and that was way harder to do than failing now.
I believe we will win the league and want it every bit as much as anyone else. Just happy to wait until it happens rather than blather on about how awesome we are and its a done deal. Happy to throw out a thousand plaudits when we've actually achieved something not when we're rounding the last bend with a few behind who haven't conceded and there's a few hurdles and a water jump left.

I agree with the prem year point .but can you see Wilder going into these last 8 games in the way warnock went in those .just looking to defend. The way we approached the game at Villa still annoys the shit out of me . Il keep saying it , this team wont copy previous errore of judgement. This team will not look for just getting a point.it goes out to win home and away

I don't think Wilder will approach the last 8 games the way Warnock did either. All the portents suggest we will continue with our levels of performance and points return average per game.
HOWEVER nothing is decided by portents so if it's ok with your good self I will run bollock naked with a Blades scarf as a butt plug down Shoreham Street WHEN the job is successfully completed and not a second before.

Its like a scene from Julius Caesar beware the ides of March.
Yes I too have seen all of our previous failures but also seen us go up.and this is one of those

exactly. why not just enjoy the football, not get ahead of ourselves, not assume we know what the results are going to be and then hopefully enjoy promotion if it comes . It's not about it being United either, football is a funny old game and it's tripped up plenty of other sides over the years.

3 points at Oldham on /Saturday iis all I care about

Win our next 8 and we'd be unlucky not to finish in the top 2.
No no Bruce, if we win our next eight games, we'll be champions, I can promise you that. I've studied the tables, I've studied all remaining fixtures, I've studied historic promotions for the last 10000 years and I've found nothing to suggest otherwise.

:)

You forgot the 10 point deduction for being the Blades. We will never be forgiven for challenging "football royalty".

We need to focus on the real story here..

How can we be deducted points, or will some bizarre event conspire against us, is it too long a shot for mcabe to be implicated in the Russia CIA election rigging that saw trump elected and possibly could lead to a ten point deduction for the blades!!!!

Will lavery be outed as a Martian and therefore ineligable to play meaning we lose the points he's helped us gain, maybe basham will be unmasked by scooby and shaggy, clamped in poorly fitting handcuffs and marched away to the premier inn....

with our history, we should plan for the second coming just before knocking the winning goal in against Chesterfield... it's us, isn't it..

if we win the next 3 , and fleetwood draw at bury , scunny beat bradford this saturday and Fleetwood lose one of next 2 we would be promoted v coventry on gd as theyd be 15 points adrift with 5 to play those that can get that many points
bradford already got 1 game less

Team P GD Pts
1 Sheff Utd 38 30 78 max 102
2 Bolton 38 26 72 max 96
3 Fleetwood 38 19 68 max 92
4 Bradford 39 16 66 max 87
5 Scunthorpe 39 20 64 max 85
6 Southend 38 11 60 max 84
7 Millwall 37 9 60 max 87
8 Bristol Rovers 39 0 57 max 78
win 3 and we discount 4th down anyway as we hit 87 with a much better gd

I think you'll find that Lavery was always properly registered..........................

7 left
Gap down to 4
Still, we've pissed it aint we BTL?

Fortunately, the mighty Scunny could only draw as well

As i keep repeating, one game at a time. It aint over till the fat lady starts warbling her tune

So what? Does that necessarily mean that we are guaranteed more points or something?
you often expect a win at home and a draw away , through a season to go up
boltons next 3 awy will see if they are up t the chase
top clubs win more away , but cant win every one

just think how good this side is going to be once promotion is sealed and we can concentrate on winning the title

So a couple more games and we can start to enjoy the end of the season

If we win on Tuesday and Fleetwood lose on Saturday. We will be 13 points clear with 6 games to go. It could be over any game then!
