It's been a bit of a rollercoaster year what with relegation and the way it happened and the subsequent change of managers. Players have come and gone but cast your mind back over the year...

Hero of the year

Got to be Rob Hulse for me. Breaking his leg horribly in March to return in December. Hopefully 2008 will see him regain his form. The first goal is the hardest Rob, just keep trying.

Villain of the year

Neil Warnock? Carlos Tevez?

Just to be a bit different, I'll say Wally Downes... living up to his name in January 2007. Prick.

Match of the year

Saturday 14th April... beating West Ham 3-0. So much misguided hope and optimism followed.

Highlight of the year

The pre-season trip to Ireland was a personal highlight. Sleeping in a tent in gale force winds and rain to watch a team we had high hopes for.

Disaster of the year

Relegation. 'Nuff Said.

Random prediction for 2008

Jonny's amourous feelings towards Rob Hulse will transfer to Lee Hendrie... this prompting the aforementioned to start collecting evil looking gnomes.

Not many to chose from! I thought the Tottenham game at home was a good 1. Put us 10 points clear i believe.

Relegation followed by the dissapoinment of been unable to challenge at the top.

Carrying on a similar but slightly improved track, only for Robson to be sacked in May.

Beating Arsenal 1-0 at home, epic game with lots of entertainment despite the close scoreline.

Relegation.

Hero of the year

I find it hard to say Hulse as he's not really played, otherwise it would have been him. Derek Geary gets my vote, he hasn't played much recently but he was fantastic until he got injured. Matt Kilgallon gets a special mention from me, he's been an absolute revelation this season and is like a new player. I've been really impressed and every game I see an improvement.

Villain of the year

Steven Gerrard, never going to forgive him for cheating on the first day of the season and for one of the penalties at Anfield. I think he's a brilliant player but I despise cheating.

Match of the year

Beating West Ham 3-0, I loved that game so much and I really thought we were in with a massive chance of staying up after that game.

Highlight of the year

Probably signing Beattie, gave us hope that we could seriously go back up this year.

Disaster of the year

Relegation by a goal, can't get much worse really. And the Wigan match was a disaster from start to finish, worst match tension-wise I've ever had to watch.

Random prediction for 2008

After a fall out with Frank Rijkaard, Lionel Messi joins Sheffield United on loan, helping us to a 17 match winning streak and taking us to the top of the league and eventually back to the Premiership.

Hero of the year
Hard to pick one really. Not been the best 12 months. I'll go for Bryan Robson. He's ignored the personal abuse to carefully and patiently craft his own squad which will be complete in just a couple of weeks allowing us to go unbeaten through 2008 (gulp...!)

Villain of the year
The Premier League for allowing W.Ham to get away with cheating and then being totally bottleless when they realised they'd got it wrong.

Match of the year
Watford. Terrible game but thought it had secured our survival and with Leeds getting relegated on the same afternoon I thought that was the perfect day. How wrong I was

Highlight of the year
Tonge's free-kick against the spammers. Belting goal and a worthy recipient.

Disaster of the year
The final day. How could everything conspire against us minute by minute the way it did? Tevez of all people getting the winning goal at Old Trafford...2 injuries in defence for Wigan meaning Unsworth has to come on...who then scores the winning penalty...and Danny Webber's shot - I keep watching it on DVD to see if it gets a kinder bounce and makes it over the line :cry2:

I won't put beating Arsenal 1-0 cos that was late 2006 wasn't it? Beating Spurs was a massive win and the 3-0 over West Ham was perfect

Highlight of the year
Signing Beattie, going to Charlton and winning 3-0 was a great night or Coventry a few days later.

Disaster of the year
Apponting Robson, Lee Hendrie, The final day of the season, getting battered 3-0 at Villa which threw us back into the relagation fight when we thought we were safe.

Random prediction for 2008
Blades to go on a winning run and win the league only to find out a third party in lee hendrie's contract, meaning we have 10 points deducted and Wednesday go up instead.

Derek Geary - just cos he's great. Hulse for the comeback!

West Ham and the FA (Tevez didn't really do anything wrong)
Gerrard and the referee who gave the penalty
David Unsworth - misses a pen for us but scores against us and sends us down.

Highlight of the year
Beating Charlton 3-0....how sad is that for highlight of the year.

I'd actually like to nominate a few villains, everyone associated with West Ham, the Premier League and Bryan Robson.

Beating the cheaters 3-0. I hope we do the same again next time we play them whether it be in the near future or long after I'm dead.

Highlight of the year

The way we came back against Spurs and Jagielka scoring a penalty past "England's (so-called and dodgy) Number 1".

Hiring Bryan Robson.
