Do we really need more keepers?! We have let long go out on loan so fail to see why we would need another?

Competition never hurts, Clough said he wants long to get first team experience at Oxford and Howard is number 1. Willis lacks experience so it's understandable Clough wants a competitive back up for Howard. Perhaps it might mean that Willis gets out on loan?

Agreed. However why spend what money we have on a back up player?
As long as they are dependable when called up then it's worth the small outlay.

Coventry mad says 6months, bit odd
Nigel Clough has added to his squad with the signings of defender Jay McEveley and goalkeeper Iain Turner.
Scottish international McEveley can operate as a left-back or a central defender and signs a one-year deal with a an option for a second year, whilst Turner spent eight years with Everton in the Premiership, he signs initially until Christmas. Both are available for Saturday's Sky Bet League encounter away v Coventry City.
"Jay is an experienced performer who we worked with for a couple of years at Derby," said boss Clough. "As we saw on Saturday when Bob (Harris) took a whack to the nose, we are short of cover in that area. Jay provides that and can also play down the middle.
The 29-year-old began his career with Blackburn Rovers and after a number of loan spells, switched permanently to Derby County in 2007 and made over 100 appearances. He has since played for Barnsley and in the last two seasons he has helped Swindon Town to finish in the top eight of League One.
Turner, 30, started his career in his native Scotland with Stirling Albion before moving to Everton in 2003 for £50,000. The Scottish stopper had several loan spells away from Goodison Park before joining Preston North End permanently in July 2011. Last season Turner spent the second half of the campaign in South Yorkshire with Barnsley.
On the move, Clough added: "Iain is an experienced goalkeeper and will provide good cover for Mark (Howard) until we are in a better position to assess what is happening with George Long.
"We have had a good look at Iain, we feel it is beneficial for all parties to bring him into the Club because it will certainly benefit George (Willis) to go out on-loan and play some games at a later date."
McEveley will wear the number 19 shirt, whilst Turner has been allocated number 24.
