He has stepped up from National League to League Two to League One in the last 3 seasons and carried on scoring goals at ease.

Surely he wouldn't know anything concrete as he's not connected to the club at the moment, it's probably just his opinion based on his own knowledge of football finances.

But the new financial rules are being implemented next season.

The ones where you can spend up to 85% of your revenue on player wages, agent fees and transfers etc, so he might have a point because our revenue will be less next season without the parachute payments.

Selling Hamer and Peck (the most likely scenario) could change what our budget is but we won't know until it happens.

A player scoring 13 non penalty goals in league one probably isn't getting more than 6 or 7 in the championship. Wouldn't be cheap, either.

One of the last times they had a striker that prolific was Mcburnie, who went up a level for big money.

The other one was Joel Piroe, who went to recently relegated Leeds for big money.

Come September, he'll either be abroad or in the prem.

Youngish strikers with goal contributions like that don't stay in the championship for very long.

That's true. If he was a 25 goal guy, I'd say worth the risk. But 13 non penalty goals is less than a 38 year old Didsy, Jack Marriott and Ashley Fletcher - and he'd cost us in the millions. I'd much rather go the Norwich route and gamble on cheaper signings from abroad than gamble on League One.

That's true. If he was a 25 goal guy, I'd say worth the risk. But 13 non penalty goals is less than a 38 year old Didsy, Jack Marriott and Ashley Fletcher - and he'd cost us in the millions. I'd much rather go the Norwich route and gamble on cheaper signings from abroad than gamble on League One.

He only signed a 2 year deal at Plymouth so will be going into the last 12 months this summer.

Plymouth won't be able to demand too much in that situation, as we saw with Cooper last year.

I expect us to try and somehow flog one of Cannon or Campbell and use that money to fund Tolaj.
