Player Suggestion Romaine Sawyers

It's great value and tempting. Would be a good one to go back down with, at least. But I think a move to WBA or Leeds would be more suitable for him.

Even though he's played in a deeper role of late, the Duffy issue explains the supposed interest in Sawyers.

If Duffy's possible departure is not because he's surplus, then moving for Sawyers would make more sense. But I still don't think there's space for him. Even more so given the additional £3m expense.

Only if we get a deal done quick. Cant do with that Brentford lot coming on here again saying NO BIDS!!

I'm very much for this signing, think he's a fabulous player & seen him do some outrageous things. I watched a Brentford game last season where he completely ran the show (possibly Leeds) and played a less disciplined version of Norwood's role more than Duffy's.

At £3-4m Sawyers comes in, competes with Norwood & improves the squad. There is no guarantee that Norwood will be up to the required standard & our back up isn't strong. Lundstram is young and has potential but he needs to go out on loan and get regular games in the Championship to improve.

Still think we need a ball winner in there too for trickier ties. Leroy Fer would be that man if we can do it. Sadly, I think we've left that one too late.

He played a full game for Brentford on Saturday. And played well.

Brentford have today turned down 14m for Mepham (another player who put in 90 minutes on Saturday).

Do you really.... honestly... think we have any chance of bidding enough for him? Really?
I reckon we are yes

Wouldn't come to be on the bench ..at best ..it's a non starter

By the same logic but multiply the cost, just hypothetically, if we were to sign McBurnie, does anyone imagine our two most costly acquisitions, Moose and Oli, would have come to sit on the bench? The question is of course rhetorical and the answer obvious.

Where would that leave the skipper? It wouldn’t bother me in the slightest, but what about the Bladey hordes who put their favourite player ahead of the club they claim to support?

Why do you find it hard to comprehend that some people feel Sharp should be a key player next season based on ability alone and regardless of who he supports?

I share that view. A key role but not a regular starter. I’ve said that several times now. What do you think of the hypothesis? There’d be knees-a-jerkin don’t you think?

You're fantasising again.
Idioty idiotness.

I’m a massive fan of Sawyers and would have loved to get him. I understand the opinion that we need a different type right now and peoples preference for Fer, but deary me, £3m is an absolute steal. That could well be West Broms “Norwood signing”.

Excellent piece of business by the Baggies there.

WEST BROM AGREE SAWYERS FEE
West Brom
have agreed a fee with Brentford to sign Romaine Sawyers, according to Sky sources.
Sky Sports News understands the deal to be in the region of £3m, and the midfielder is set to undergo a medical with the Baggies on Friday.
Celtic had been one of a number of other clubs interested in signing the 27-year-old, who has just one year left on his contract at Griffin Park.

With fer also going somewhere else. It seems se have been too slow to address midfield
