Roger Nilsen

He always had a hard shot on him, mind. I used to quite like him when I were a lad. That said, I have a history of liking average defenders - Tom Cowan was my favourite player for ages and I've honestly no idea why :D

Nilsen was a decent player, I loved his overhead kick clearances. But his communication with Kelly was abysmal and cost us a fair few goals down the years!

I saw his only "goal" for the blades too, when I was 10. I had cut my shin open when I was knocked off my chair when Holdsworth equalised, and bled throughout Extra Time and Penalties. Possibly my finest night as a blade :D

Just watched those highlights, excellent goals. It amuses me that the team scores ten times, even the left back notches twice and yet Jostein Flo STILL can't get on the scoresheet. Awful :D

Flo was actually a pretty good player for the National side though wasn't he? They even named a pass after him...

Really not sure. He was awful for us though.

Having just read about "the Flo pass" which I'd never heard of, that totally explains why we had both Nilsen and Flo at the club, at that time!

The Bo Diddley Beat
The Revie Plan
and now, The Flo Pass :D

Flo was as quick as continental drift, other than that I thought he was ok. I was only a wee lad at the time though.

I can remember "being" him in the playground on my rare outfield forays, which is embarrassing looking back. I used to play in nets mostly though, so at least I could "be" Tracey or Kelly, far better role models :D

Flo was legendary. For Norway, his everlasting memory will be his appearance at the World Cup that turned the game vs Brazil - great performance.

As for Roger, his shooting was regularly erratic. About as likely to score as Kozzie. Who at least did score...

I was there when Kozzy scored!

Probably bordering on blasphemy to say this but I don't think it was his goal, another Blades player got a tiny flick on it on the way in.

Nilsen certainly came to the club with the reputation for being a free-kick specialist, I just don't think it ever materialised. I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have Linz, MG and RachyBlade mumping around the place if we had a few Roger Nilsen's at the Lane these days ;).

Just how many would have been on the pitch had the referee continued with his threat of booking him for taking his shirt off? :D

Deflection? pffft, I saw nothing ... Don't spoil the lads moment :D

Nilson was one of my favourite players! Always liked the guy.

I think that's the only time I've ever seen United players crowd the referee a la Chelsea.

"Please don't book him ref... he's never scored before"

:D

I missed Kozzie's goal against Bradford (I think Kabba attempted a little flick) but I did see his goal against Stoke. He defended in the first half like Frank Specncer and we went two down but in the second half played like Cafu and could have had several more! Lester equalised with a last minute penalty and the stoke fans rioted...

I also saw Kozluk play up fornt and score five in Whitehouse's testimonial game!

Did he even play that game? I think he used to wear number 6 for Norway?
