Bryan Robson has severed all ties with Sheffield United.

Kevin Blackwell is in charge until the end of the season.

Off down London Road anyone, celebratee:D

I hope people get behind Blackwell now. He's been put in charge until the end of the season, he is our manager until then. Lets hope we can get into a respectable position and maybe continue our cup run.*

* If i remember rightly, Steve Thompson took over around about this time(start of March) and we got to the Semi's

How will Blades fans react when the bomb shell that the ex Leeds manager is their new manager?

Erm, he was our assistant before Leeds manager ffs.

I hate SkySports.

Rather we had got someone else to be honest.

SSN: Terry Robinson will step down as FC chairman in the summer but will remain as a Director.

People want changes though...

Nice to see Blackwell's returned, I reckon he'll do well.

Welcome back Blackwell, all is forgiven for leaving us all those years ago. :)

Great news relegation robbo has gone

I dont care if its blackwell- we have removed the joker

Blackwell  Well, who ever got the job would have my full backing and i think Kevin will do well for us. I bet its different to managing bankrupt luton :D

SUFC said:
Sheffield United tonight (Thursday) announced that team manager Bryan Robson has left Bramall Lane.

Chairman Kevin McCabe had held lengthy discussions with Robson regarding a new role as part of a root and branch review of all football matters at the championship club.

However, Robson opted to leave, along with number two Brian Kidd.

The Club recognises the need to improve its football infrastructure, ensuring that there is a clear link between the ambitions of success at first team level, and the youth development system and its overseas affiliations in China, Brazil, Hungary, Belgium and elsewhere.

Chairman Kevin McCabe said: "I was keen to see Bryan Robson take up this head of football role but, regrettably, this was not to be and so he departs - along with Brian Kidd - with the best wishes of all at Sheffield United.

"Supporters should not underestimate the sterling and dedicated expertise and time put in by Robson and Kidd in overhauling the whole of the Blades football divisions."

Replacing the pair until the end of the season will be former Blades number two, Kevin Blackwell, assisted by Sam Ellis.

Terry Robinson will be stepping down as chairman of the football club board at the end of the season but will stay on as a director.

Mr McCabe said: "Bryan goes with our best wishes. Over the last two days I have spent a lot of time reviewing the club's football matters.

"I had hoped Bryan would take up a new role at the club but in the end that was not to be. Kevin and Sam are in until the end of the season when we will take stock.

"They both know the situation and, most of important of all, know how we are determined to take this club forward. That will include the pursuit of a football supremo to oversee a new football structure at the club."

not to pleased tbh, il give him a chance though as always :D
kidd gone aswell :O

Nobodys satisified

In my opinion there were better managers out there although I guess McCabe wanted someone in quick.

I will give Blackwell my support even if I dont like him or rate him much.

We were already in quarters, and he nearly lost us our play off position.

Thank god Robbo turned down the Director of Football role.

Why? He has good contacts.

As for Blackwell, well the only good thing about this appointment is that it is only till the end of the season.

I don't wanna sound pessimistic and getting on his back already, but there is so many decent managers available currently, I just feel we have appointed someone on a wim, because he was previously associated with Warnock and a succesful team with us.

But there's nothing to say that any other managers weren't approached and weren't interested in taking over the club at this time. Better someone than no one at all.

cool :D what did u say?

Hi there, i just want to say that i think every Blade fan is wrong in saying Blackwell can't do a job at us, he's a former assistant of ours and he will be much better than Robson, Relegation Robson shouldn't have ever been put in charge, but my call to ALL blades fans is GET BEHIND BLACKWELL AND THE BOYS, QUIT THE BOOS & lets make it a good end to the season.

UP THE BLADES!, Jason in Sheffield. :)

Thats what I am thinking aswell.

As for Robbo's contacts couldnt we of just knicked his little black book of contacts. :)

I'd rather have Blackwell and have time to think with a clear head, than appoint some other no mark for 3 years and regret it.

The bloke's not done bad when he's had a fair run at Leeds and Luton - I just hope he doesn't bring the curse of administration with him!

We can at least plan for next year in the closed season - if Blackwell's done OK then fine. If he's crap then we've got time to find someone who is capable of doing the job and get them in in enough time to put a team together that can go up.

How can Luton and Leeds fans say hes a shit manager, its the shit clubs he was at.

Not much of a chance of that happening, Leeds and Luton weren't exactly financially healthy clubs to begin with when he took over at them. :)
