Has anyone got any idea what he was trying to do? When I first saw it I assumed that it was one of those unlucky ones where a scrum of players goes up and the defender sees it at the last minute and the ball glances of the side of his head. However, on the replay, he seemed to flick it towards his own goal. Was he trying to put it over the bar, or head it back to the keeper. It was a hell of an effort to score from there.
Can any one remember a game where we have struggled so much with a simple throw lobbed into the box. There were two goals, two disallowed goals and at least three other missed chances. I get that the goalkeeper was piss weak but was our set up wrong or did we just have too few decent headers of the ball. I've only seen one case where there was a definite foul (the Verrips save). The rest seemed to be a case of "Allardyce" style jumping into the player instead of trying to head the ball. Obviously I can see that leaving Robinson unmarked a yard out was not a great move, but how can we be so shit at such pub style tactics, so much so that Furlong got MoM for simply throwing the ball into the area.
