RND

Spotted him behind the bench in the last week or so. Be good to have him as an option next season but we haven't really missed him at all.
Missed him massively!

We’ve had no choice but to make do with all time Lowe ffs, he couldn’t even be dropped because we had no other options bar stevens or playing someone out of position, by far our weakest area since he’s been out injured is the left side of defence and it urgently needs addressing.

Agree it probably highlights the great job Hecky has done managing that. But i'd say Lowe and RND are equally as hit and miss. Still great to have them both vying for one spot.

RND was immense this season, driving us forward at times and fantastic defensively. I cant believe how good he was for us, especially given how thoroughly mediocre he'd looked before this season.

There's a reason the likes of Leicester had been looking at him.

You’ve got to be kidding me
We got promoted! Lowe was an adequate stand in. I don't think there's much between the two but maybe my memory is foggy on RND

We got promoted but the left side of our defence and midfield were our weaknesses.

Doyle and McAtee went a long way to resolving the latter when they came in and replaced Norwood and Fleck.

Had RND been fit all season I think we'd have been challenging Burnley.

RND was immense before he got injured, he looked like a cross between O'Connell and Ryan Giggs, passing defenders with ease and defending like a champion. He was a shithouse to go with it too, winding players up for fun. I thought he was a revelation at the start of this season.

Off topic, but I also saw the same change in approach from Jebbison in his last couple of games, he all of a sudden seems to have developed the cutting edge and strength you need in the man's game, really looks to have stepped up a level.

It does need addressing, but RND is not the answer for first choice.
Perhaps the player gets better the longer he is out injured !

I don’t recall him being that good. Prone to error and not good at crossing.
A good squad player if we can find a good LWB or just a LB.

Bit OTT that he did improve a lot

Very harsh, I thought he was looking great until his injury. I also really liked his aggression, the opposition looked shit scared of him.

I'm not sure which RND you're talking about here? Ryan Giggs?!! He was poor going forward most of the time. To the degree I'd have him as first choice LCB as he's much better defensively and his pace would be really useful back there.

Imo his all round game in this highlight real is exactly what we need on the left next year

As always fans have different opinions as evidenced in posts on this thread in October.
What we all hope is that he fully recovers and after a pre season is an integral part of the Premier squad

His aggression and application was very good, but that will not get us far next season without being able to defend well and cross accurately on the few occasions he is able to get forward

I do remember really liking RND on the left of the back 3 with Lowe ahead of him. They offered us a lot of energy and fluidity down that side. I think there are certain games where you'd rather have a Clark/Robinson type in there over of him but he's a useful type of player to have and if fit he'll be a big part of next season

There are lots of Blades fans that have completely forgotten both RND's and Norwood's performances pre world cup. Both were brilliant.
100% right same foe Mcburnie don’t know what happened to him back end of season

That doesnt mean anything does it ?
I mean look at you now !
It means that when he was playing earlier in the season there were differing views on his ability. No doubt there still are and it will be difficult for him to come back into the first team with the additional pressures that the PL brings.
If he turns into one of the better LWBs we have had in recent times I will be happy to acknowledge that

And like i said it doesnt mean anything does it ?
There are still plenty on here who think the manager and team are shite and have been predicting a blow up all season and now theyve been proved wrong theyve moved on to next season
My opinion is that any one who couldnt see RND attributes and his value to tge team doesnt understand the game

But thats just my opinion.

Not according to posters on here in October
Read this thread through again. There are 1 or 2 that have minor criticisms of him, but in the main folk are raving about him.

He was a huge miss for us after October, the energy and aggression he brings would have been similar to Furious on the other side, in my opinion with a similar impact.
