RIP Shred

And you know what really impressed me was the mutual respect shown by all, as mourners. I didn't see one fan approach the players for autographs, conversation or photos. This was bigger than that, it was about Shred and everyone seemed to get that they were there as decent human individuals mourning a loss.

Please also note that both Chairman McCabe and Manager Clough were there. The flowers presented by Captain Doyle on behalf of the club were also a nice touch.

Perhaps next time we are thinking of having a go at the lads it may pay to remember what they did today. Thank you Blades, fans, players, owner and manager for such respect.

It was a privalage to be inside for shreds service today ,the woman who spoke said it from the heart .any blade who went today and there was well over a thousand can hold their heads up high ,shred was the leader not just to all the great men that went on his coaches but to all blades . Everyone was there today old fans new fans old bad lads new bad lads all showing the great man the respect he rightly deserved ,shred never passed judgement on anyone and that's why he was held so high in everyone's estimation .
Leader you have gone to a greater place sort the buggers out .r.i.p. Spencer love from Sean les and hope .
Ps away days will never be the same .

I had intended to go down to the Lane today to pay my respect. Unfortunately work got in the way, and I didn't..So pleased to hear so many did...All I wanted to say in the manner of most, if not all, of my conversations with him was "hi Shred".....RIP x

Managed to get to the Lane and up to City Road the tribute at the Lane by the players staff and fans was fantastic and very moving when the applause broke out as Shred left thats when I shed a few tears. We gave Shred a good send off afterwards in The Sheaf The Cricketers, Fannys and then The Foxwood was so nice to see so many Blades paying their respects to such a great man UTB

As my mate said "there's a reet firm out today, we should be up Hillsborough after to run um ragged at Legends :) "

Can only echo what many have said already, great turn out and great send off for Shred yesterday. Seemed appropriate that many of us were freezing our knackers off outside the main service yesterday, just as Shred would have done many times over the years watching United.

RIP Shred, I don't think we'll ever see your like again

At the Lane I was stood at the Bramall Lane end of the south stand and as we waited for the cars to leave the ground I noticed how dignified and mature all of our players were. They stood in silence looking as somber as any Blades fan. Footballers get bad press for their behavior and maybe some players at some clubs would have appersred impatient and listening to their individual music.

Our lads were a credit to the club. As much as we may criticize them for performances on a Saturday afternoon they do appear to be decent human beings.

Shred deserved no less.
