Yes a lot of blades fans were really p----d off when we sold him . A great finisher strong and powerful great header of a ball . Yet another one with dementia . Really sad R.I.P. mate .Like so many of us on here, I’ll remember him very fondly as one of my early heroes in a Blades shirt.
My first game as a young Blade was the victory over W*******y where he scored the winning goal. Great days.
I don’t know the circumstances why we sold him…but I was devastated. We should have kept him imho.
RIP John Tudor
I think Tudor scored against us during his time at Newcastle. I could be wrong about that.At Newcastle he was the perfect foil for big SuperMac.
Yes in August 1972. I had met John, his wife and his mother in law before the match and we agreed to meet after the match. After the final whistle my dad said "Lets meet John now", I refused but my dad talked me round. When we met again John noticed that I wasnt too happy. My dad told him about my feelings after the final whistle, John patted on my head and said "I am sorry".I think Tudor scored against us during his time at Newcastle. I could be wrong about that.
Still remember the shock that morning when my dad woke me up to show me the reportVery sad, I remember him very fondly & he was terrific for us. Gutted when he was sold but I think it was a p/x deal with John going to Newcastle & John Hope & David Ford coming to us. I admit to not liking Ford because of his connection to the other lot, but I say now that although John Hope was called Hopeless he was as instrumental at getting promotion as anyone before injury badly dented his confidence & mobility.
Thanks for the memories King John, RIP Blade.
Apparently he and John Harris didn't get on.Yes a lot of blades fans were really p----d off when we sold him . A great finisher strong and powerful great header of a ball . Yet another one with dementia . Really sad R.I.P. mate .
John Tudor. Rest in Peace. He was a hero of mine. I used to meet him after the home games during the 1970-71 season and got in touch with him when he left for Newcastle. He was the landlord at Rock Tavern in Dronfield for a few months during the 1992-93 winter before he and his family moved to the USA.
He was a brilliant goal scorer.
So did I remember the day well pre match pint crazy world of Arthur Brown with Fire blasting out of the juke box. Later in 1984 I was working in Newcastle one of my colleagues said you support Sheffield United don't you of course I answered yes he invited me to his house and a drink and a surprise in his local. The surprise was John Tudor spent time remenissing about his time with the Blades had a good night. Rest in peace John thanks for the memories and my deepest condolences to all your family and loved onesSaw his debut at Bury. He scored both goals in a 2-0 win. Followed it up with 2 more the following week at home to Preston. Best header of the ball I have seen for United.

A week later at Birmingham, my second away match in the league
We did need a ball winner and a keeper to boost our promotion chances in 1971Tudor was before my time but I've seen his record for me s and Newcastle and it does make me wonder had we not sold him whether united could have won the league in 1975?
I also can't figure out how that same team then finished bottom of the league the season after?!
Sad news on John Tudors passing ultimately.
As was customary in those days after the sing song and walk down into Pond street bus station, buy the Green Un and relive all over again I believe the opening words were United set off like Brazil in stripesOh that unforgettable day when winning two nowt against pigs. They managed to draw level then JOHN TUDOR had other ideas he sent us mad with ecstasy with the winner. There was many more goals and many more memories of John Tudor a Legend of the Lane forever in our hearts. RIP Legend John Tudor
