RIP Barbara. A real life hero. The United supporting lottery winner, who donated millions to charity. In a world where there is so much greed and cynicism, it was lovely to see a couple get so much pleasure by being generous to others.

Hi SP as you know them. Barbara was in the NG hospital for 12 days and Ray, Mark, Shaun and Amanda plus other close family members were with her 24/7 for 9 of them once they knew that the outcome wouldn’t be good, they worked out a rota between them.RIP a genuinely nice lady who i have known since being a small child.. best wishes to Ray, Mark and Sean you're in my thoughts today
thanks man that meant a lot to meHi SP as you know them. Barbara was in the NG hospital for 12 days and Ray, Mark, Shaun and Amanda plus other close family members were with her 24/7 for 9 of them once they knew that the outcome wouldn’t be good, they worked out a rota between them.
When Bar worked for the NHS, there was more than one occasion when she refused to leave a dying patient alone until their family could get there, so she stayed on after her shift to hold their hand and talk to them. Ray and her family promised that they’d do the same for her when her time came.
She died very peacefully mate and somebody was holding her hand.

Just want to start by thanking each and everyone of you for your kind comments and words - Barbara is my Mum. I am incredibly proud of what my Mum and Dad have done since their win. Doing, and giving how they did, they gave a little bit to everyone in Sheffield who would use the hospitals, as well as other acts of kindness, Park hill school trips, Monte Casino veterans trip + many others.
All our family are incredibly loyal Blades. I used to love to ring my Mum after the match to chat about the game, she had listened to the commentary or TV and to listen to her, it was almost like she was there at the game, but was obviously too unwell to go.
I remember my Mum and Dad saying that in the 60's they would set off to the away games (my Mum dressed in red and white obviously) and stop off at random towns and city's on the way home and go to a dance somewhere. They really did have fun!
Losing our Mum has broken all our family's heart, but thinking she will be with all he other Blades up there cheering us on come August, gives us a little comfort. Thanks again Blades for your comments. Wraggy.
Never had the pleasure of meeting your mum mate but if I can aspire to show half the generosity of spirit your parents have shown I will count myself to have lived a good and decent life. You should be rightly proud of her and your dad.Just want to start by thanking each and everyone of you for your kind comments and words - Barbara is my Mum.
